Hi Everyone,

My cat Beanie has a rare hereditary condition that has caused her to slowly become blind. She is now only four years old and completely blind, and needs cataract surgery to restore her sight so she can enjoy the things she once did. I was devastated when I found out about her condition, but ever since I found out about Care2 and all of the kind, caring people out there my hope was restored. So far we've been doing well with Beanie's Donation Fund!We have received $405.12 toward our $3000 goal thanks to our wonderful sponsors. Unfortunately, donations have begun to slow down, so we are reaching out to the Care2 community. I hope if you haven't done so yet you will come visit Beanie’s site to read about Beanie and her condition. Donations can be made right on her site. Copyright - Get Rid of the 3-year Statute of Limitations

Our 'Protected Rights' are supposed to be for 70 years after our death, they have drastically reduced this to a mere 3 years, and that's only if we catch someone stealing our writings, art, etc..., in time to file a Lawsuit.

The STATUTE of LIMITATIONS has no place in our society as it promotes Infringement, and proves that our Laws don't work for US.

Please help to restore our Copyright Protections to,

I appreciate all of the support I'm getting, but we still need signatures. This is really Important, it needs to be taken seriously. It was brought to my attention by a very astute poster to one of my threads that we need only to remember the Artists of the 60'and 70's that got ripped off.
They  ran out of the time it takes to collect evidence, and becauit's an old 'over the trash can' type.
People should look at all of the possible ways that these Infringers use to protect their stolen wares, maybe then they'll understand the importance of this ISSUE.
What I keep hearing is that writers,artists,musicians, etc... don't believe that it happens at all. All they need to do is look around them on the net.se they weren't listening to rock and roll, they didn't even know that they were being ripped off. 
 
Three years simply gives the perpetrator too much time to destroy evidence though. My paper shredder works fast and

Whole works of art, writings, etc.. can be plagiarized and hidden easily.   All the Infringer has to do is disguise the work as their own, and sell locally.

There are Lawsuits going on with big Company interests at stake, nothing for the aspiring artists who've been ripped off. Who knows maybe they don't think that their work is good enough to get stolen, or they think they'd feel flattered if it did.
It's not that way in the real world. It can be real damaging to your soul, especially when you can't get Attorneys to listen. They're supposed to help. Right?
I appreciate all the support that you've been giving me. I only wish that people realized that it only takes a few seconds to help change this Law to our favor, and it hurts nothing and nobody to sign it.
I've tried to stress to everybody that Infringers get fined. I've never heard of anyone doing jail time, that was one of the concerns that I had heard of.
No one seems to believe that it can happen to them, I didn't believe it either. We live and we learn!
Please help to restore our Copyright Protections.

Ohio Senate Bill 17 gives victims of sexual assault effective civil recourse now and in the future.


Ohio Senate Bill 17 is a piece of pending legislation in the Ohio House of Representatives. This legislation would:

  • extend the amont of time a person has to file a civil lawsuit after a sexual crime is committed against them to 20 years past the age of majority
  • provide a one year window of the statute of limitations for past victims who have been sexually victimized within the past 35 years to bring first-time civil claims against their perpetrators
  • add religious clergy of all faith to the list on mandated child abuse reporters under Ohio law, except in the case of cleric-penitent communication
  • strengthen the Gross Sexual Imposition language of the criminal code
Please, I do ask you to take the time and put your signature on this petition. Changing one law in one state can result in changing laws in other states.  I am asking for your participation and help in an upcoming book that is going to be written by Corinne Hickey and myself (TiffanySmith). What I would like for you to do is write your stories about depression, anxiety, bipolar, OCD, any mental illness that you may have, and any personal stories you may have about suicide. I ask that these stories be legit!

I ask that you include as much detail as possible although there is no certain limit length to these stories/essays. To give you a little help as to where to start and what to write about here is what I am looking for... when did your symptoms begin, how you felt mentally and physically, what you did to help yourself, who was your support system/network, are you still battling with this illness(es), what has worked best for you, if you have been stabilized was that helped you get to this point? I would like for you to include things of that nature and if you can think of anything else be my guest and keep writing.

If you are writing about suicide, I would like for you to explain t me what led up to that decision and how youfelt on the inside and out. Also, I would like for you to tell me how you felt afterwards when you realized you were still alive and if you still have thoughts of suicide to this day. What are your triggers? Why do you get to the point of wanting to take your own life?

I would love to personally interview everyone but that is not possible. All information is and will be confidential. None of it will be used in the book unless I personally contact you. So, with that said at the end of your stories if you will allow me to contact you for further questioning (if applicable) or permission to use any information in our book please leave your contact information  even if it is just an email address.

The reason I am doing this is so we can do more research for our book and see what all topics need to be discussed, reviewed, and analyzed. I repeat myself when I write that all information is confidentional and will not be used without proper and legal permission.
