Poetry book

This section is devoted to the Poetry and Writings of those with cystic fibrosis, their family, or friends. If you want to submit a poem or something you wrote... please send me an email and I would be happy to include it here.  In this section below you will find my personal work.

If I had to give this poem a title it would be " Another reminder of CF "

Each day I awake and wait to hear loud reminders of my imperfections, call them weaknesses, background noise of the soul.
What failure will I tune in on today? No station breaks to sooth the monotony of this search for self worth.
Madness often wins out when strengths of my past seem out of reach no matter how feverish the attempt to grasp just one of many talents others remind me of. I can only see them as expired dreams.
Where has my confidence gone? Lost for so long in a spiral of self decline. Now I have landed somewhere below. As I look up I see smooth dimly lit walls of a round room where for now; the walls are too tall to peer over.

"Defeat & Doubt, Help & Hope"

 Defeat & Doubt

Sometimes I sit here.... I sit here and stare,
blankly into the muted view in front of me.
My mind turning numb as confusion is amplified
like background noise that I can't tune out of my head.

I wonder, I wallow, I wish... my mind keeps spinning the same melody.
If my life's not a failure... when do I start winning?

The struggle of this taunting... clouds my thoughts and bruises my will.
It's hard to be content and to sit still in a place of despair and defeat.

The Liar is cunning and thrives on self doubt.
He is the master at driving confidence out from the soul.
He is the stealer of hope, and the weight of a heavy load.
He is the author of confusion and the master of deception.

I will never invite him in... to do so is to forfeit the game
and face eternity with no end to the pain for this mortal core.

Help & Hope

I seek His council, I seek His embrace,
I seek the 'light' of my Savior's face.
His radiance fills my tired eyes with the light of hope.
His arms give my body rest as He carries me.
At His table I have a new place to sit.
He is my everlasting provider, in Him I will abide.
The peace and purity of who He is quiets my heart and mind.

The road of life before me is still uncertain
and distant if I go it alone.
I dare not take a chance if I long to go safely home.
I'll embrace the Holy Spirit that he may light my way.
Preparing me to endure the obstacles along the way
or helping me lift the burdens from my path that I will not stray.

I'll just keep stepping, one step after another,
and another... keep stepping.
I must resign to the promises of worldly rewards
and the promises of man, since both man and this world will fail me
but my Heavenly Father has prepared a place for me just as He promised.

By the blood shed on Calvary, my heart is washed and ready to one day hear, "Come home My child, your eternity is ready."

"Truth"

Nothing that is, or has ever been, can match or surpass the glory of who He is.  There is nothing beautiful that He has not already inspired.  Every perfect and excellent thing is from God.  Salvation is not an  achievement, a sensation, or planned event.  It is a gift of truth, a perfect plan for our lives. So often we try to sum up our lives by boasting of the things we've gathered along the journey.  If all I have left to show is a testament of truth, then I am living in Gods will.

The most incredible thing I ever heard, was something I had prior knowledge of.  It was common place in my life, I heard these words many times before.  But it never really clicked on in my mind until I simplified the message.  No matter how messed up I thought my life could be....  God has been there.  Every vile and sinful act that ever occurred or ever will...  Jesus has paid for.

Many of us gaze straight into the light, but still live in darkness.  When will your eyes see?  When will you be free?  He will forgive you and help you to walk in truth.

" If they only knew... " those were the words that changed me.  Spoken by my Savior, who knew what would be.  How many times have you heard people say " If I only knew ... "
It's not too late.

In loving memory for Grandma

"Your Son Your Angel"
I must be gone,
since your not here anymore
You must be gone,
I can't feel your hand anymore
I'm not afraid.
Light is bright where I am going.
Don't be afraid,
hold your head up from the gloaming.

Joy melts the sorrow,
I see heavens glow,
Rejoice in my life,
Share with others what you know,
I'm breathing freely now,
the pain is no more.
Live on for me now,
I am safe on heavens shore.

Everything in heaven all has its place.
Your angel of mercy, now has my face.
As I look down I see tears falling.
But I am home now,
so dry your eyes.

Look up to the heavens and watch the angels fly.
You are always with me in this heavenly home.
You're the best Mom
a Son could ever have known
I'll wait for you now in God's loving care.
And long for the day that He brings you here.
I miss you.

" Peace in knowing - how Great Thou Art! "
My breath escaped me, still I struggled all the while.
The time has come to begin the next mile.
Prepared for a new chapter with hope in my heart.
I look to the heavens and proclaim How great thou art!
As I slip into twilight I surrender to your care.
I long for a time without burden to breath air.
These old lungs were tired, scarred, and weak.
My new lungs are strong, healthy, and pink.
My body had grown tired, but my soul is overflowing.
I embrace my fears and trust that God is all knowing.
I am in His hands as I go down this path.
Now I find comfort as your prayers blanket me.
I long for the moment these lungs breath with ease.
I stand on the promise of my God who calms the seas.
Each moment, each hour that passes by
I cling to my faith as God watches over me.
My God is strong, my God can heal.
So I'll quietly rest as He restores me.
Oh the JOY! that will fill my heart, the next time I sing
" My God, my God, how great thou art ".
