Petition: Equal Pay for Equal Work!
Target: U.S. Senate
Sponsored by: AAUW (American Association of University Women)
...........
On average, women in the U.S. continue to earn only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. Just one year out of college, women working full time already earn less than their male colleagues do, even when they work in the same job. Decades of earning lower wages result in significantly lower Social Security benefits, retirement incomes, and pensions, leaving women with less money to retire on.
.........
The Paycheck Fairness Act, a much-needed update to the 46-year-old Equal Pay Act, would create stronger incentives for employers to follow the law, empower women to negotiate for equal pay, and strengthen federal enforcement efforts. Without the Paycheck Fairness Act, women will continue to be silenced in the workplace - prohibited from asking about their employer’s wage practices or talking about their own wages with coworkers without the fear of being fired, which prevents many women from discovering they’re being discriminated against in the first place!
..........
This recession makes pay equity even more important.
With women now making up half of the workforce and more and more families relying on a woman’s paycheck to make ends meet, ensuring that women are paid fairly is even more critical.
Urge your Senator to support the Paycheck Fairness Act today!

This online petition is being submitted
to you in support of mercy and
requesting immediate Parole for
Robert Wideman
,
AP 3468, SCI Pittsburgh
.
-- Mr. Wideman has killed NO ONE,
yet is still in prison, after 33 years.

-- Judge James McGregor apologized
to Mr. Wideman in open court
for his
being in prison so long because
   of a Wrongful Conviction
.
-- The State's Chief Medical Examiner, Cyril Wrecht, also testified (in 1998-Evidentary Hearing) that if the true facts of this case had been known at the time of Robert Wideman's sentencing, he would have testified very differently, alerting the jury that Mr. Wideman's actions WERE NOT the cause of death of Nicky Morena on that cold November night in 1975
.

Exerpt from ROBERT WIDEMAN'S BLOG

"In a State with over 50,000 incarcerated men, less than 150 of them have served more consecutive days in prison than I have suffered. As of July 11, 2009, those days will add up to 12,195 days. That consists of 12,195 mornings, 12,195 afternoons, 12,195 evenings and 12,195 long, lonely nights full of longing and anguish. And please believe me, no matter how hard you may try to understand how that feels, it is impossible for you to know and impossible for me to explain. 33 years and 5 months! Wow! And I am not accused of killing anyone. I have never intentionally or unintentionally physically harmed anyone in my life. No shootings, no stabbings, no beatings, no head - bashing: no harm ever, never. And no one anywhere can claim that I have...."
