Target: Leaders of the United States.

The only way our nation will ever humanly control its unwanted pet population is if we stop all puppy mills & backyard breeders who breed for profit & not the love of the animal. They produce more then we could ever find homes for leaving them roaming the street or in a shelter to be killed or living in miserable circumstances sick & hurting.
We need to tell our President to Ban all selling of Dogs & Cats for a set amt of time until we have humanly controlled the unwanted population without using the cruel methods we do now.
Take away the profit from the backyard breeders & puppy mills make it illegal to sell dogs & cats. Make adoption from shelters or other humane orgs the only way to obtain a pet. The animals would be a set fee for which you get a healthy animal vaccinated & spayed or neutered. The shelter numbers would drop drastically because people couldn't run out to the pet store or online to buy a puppy. There are many in shelters & on streets who need homes so many we don't need idiots breeding & more.
If backyard breeders & puppy mills couldn't profit from it anymore than they would have no desire to continue to breed these sick animals.
This is a general idea I've had for a while & would just like some comments to see if I'm alone in my belief.
I'll be glad to communicate with anyone willing to help me get this started as a active cause.

Basie the corgi had only been missing for a few hours when her owners discovered that she had been turned in to the Crosspoint Animal hospital in Fairfax Station. Although she was in good health, with clipped nails and clean fur, by the time her owners found her she'd been euthanized for being a stray.

Please help to put a stop to this & sign the petition, thanks.

Urge Eric Pickles to Reject Application for New Beagle Breeding Unit.

More than 4,000 beagles suffered & died in experiments in the UK in 2009, tens of thousands more were used worldwide. A company which sells beagles into the vivisection trade has recently applied for planning permission to build a new facility in Yorkshire. Please write to the local council & ask them to refuse permission. This summer, more than 2,000 PETA supporters contacted East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ask them to turn down an application by B&K Universal (which is owned by Marshall Farms, a huge US supplier of animals for experiments) to demolish existing housing for dogs at Grimston near Hull & erect new & larger breeding facilities. The council turned down the application, but the company has appealed & their appeal will now be considered by Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities & Local Government. The government has pledged to "work to reduce" the numbers of animals used in experiments: giving the green light to this factory farm for dogs would therefore be not only immoral but also against their own policies. A decision by Mr Pickles on the application is expected within weeks. Please contact him to let the government know how much opposition there is to breeding dogs for vivisection & to demand that he turn down the appeal. Send your message via the online form using the link provided, thanks.

Take Action on this Issue:
Protect the Lionhead Recommended Wilderness

Mountain bike activists are pressuring the Forest Service to drop proposed protections for the stunning Lionhead Recommended Wilderness and convert the rugged area into an extreme mountain biking destination.

To protect the wilderness character and potential of the land and to preserve recommended wilderness in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, tell forest supervisors not to waver on their proposal to limit travel to foot and horseback.

Say NO to Last-Minute Logging!

The federal Bureau of Land Management has just proposed opening thousands of acres of forests in western Oregon to logging. It's a handoff to the timber industry, a huge loss to endangered species, and to the American public.

But there's still time to object! Your voice is absolutely critical in showing that the public cares about what happens to these forests. The BLM needs to know that Americans will not stand for degrading our streams and rivers, or the sale of some of our last ancient forests to the timber industry.

We need your voice to be heard on this issue before the Administration leaves office in January.  Tell the Bush Administration that destroying Oregon's coastal forests is unacceptable!

http://www.siskiyou.org/ecodefense/clearcutprivatepan.jpg Clearcutting on private property has continued to expand around the last remaining unentered ancient forest left in southern oregon. This photo was taken from Forest Service road 9938 near sections of the West Fork logging sale. Photos taken and stiched together Feb. 23, 2006 by Justin Rohde.
Please help & Take Action, thank you.

From Take Action: Tell Congress to Support Children's Health!:

Representative to co-sponsor the Global Child Survival Act.
Tell Congress to Support Children's Health!

More than 9 million children under five will die this year -- and every year -- from preventable and treatable diseases like pneumonia. They die because they were born in poorer countries and don't have access to simple treatments that most of us in America take for granted.

We can do something to help save these millions of young lives, and so can Congress. Members of Congress have introduced legislation called the Global Child Survival Act (H.R. 2266, S.1418) that would recommit the United States to lead the way in improving children's health by expanding funding for proven solutions like antibiotics and immunizations.

Give these 10 million children a stronger chance to live by urging your Senators and Representative to co-sponsor the Global Child Survival Act.

Petition: Save Ashford International!

Summary of Aim: To safeguard international rail services at Ashford in Kent, UK.

Full Text of Petition:

To: Eurostar Management,

The British Government and The European Parliament.

We ask Eurostar to make a public committment to maintain frequent International services running from Ashford to both Paris and Brussels.
Sign this petition.

Lib Dem Member of the European Parliament for the South East, Sharon Bowles, has launched this new website to save International train services in Ashford.

The international service has come under threat from new plans by Eurostar to make the new Ebbsfleet station the "hub" for the South East.

The volume of services from Ashford to the continent has been slashed, and residents and staff now fear for the future of international services from Ashford.

Sharon is now calling on local residents to sign her petition to safeguard Ashford's future as an International station.

Sharon said "It is deeply disappointing that Eurostar have chosen to make these cuts to the service. Now we must work to ensure they understand the importance of Ashford's international connections."

"If you use the international services at Ashford, please take a moment to send me a message letting me know how these cuts will affect you, and how you would be affected if the service stops completely."

"If you haven't used the international service, but perhaps have benefitted in some other way - perhaps you work for a business that was attracted by Ashford's links, I would love to hear from you too about how this affects you."

"I will take up the points you make with Eurostar's management, in my fight to safeguard frequent international services at Ashford."

The petition: Welcome to the worldwide petition, Paul naked for PETA. For those of you who are unaware or unsure of our petition, well it's quite simple, we want Sir Paul McCartney to pose naked in one of PETA's successful anti-fur advertisements. My friends and I as committed supporters of PETA, wish to thank all who have participated in PETA's anti-fur awareness campaign. One particular celebrity however, who has not yet featured, and in acknowledgment of his support and activism, is the loved and respected Sir Paul. In our view, Sir Paul's global following and popularity, which flows as strong today as it did "Yesterday", would captivate and inform a wider population.

Please sign our petition, add us as a friend on MySpace and tell as many people about our campaign as possible. You can sign here and email us at aulnakedforPETA@gmail.com,">PaulnakedforPETA@gmail.com, for information or updates.

We will constantly be updating our MySpace page so please visit us at www.myspace.com/paulnakedforpe...

Help us try to get Sir Paul's gear off, for charity of course.

To find out more about PETA's anti-fur campaign and to view previous adds please visit www.furisdead.com.

All information on PETA campaigns and adverts are sourced from www.peta.org.

Sincerely,

Miranda Blue and Lucy Darling

Please visit ipetitions.com and sign this important petition for a friend of mine, thank you.

The EU has badly let down the world’s poorest people on water and sanitation.

In 2002, the European Union launched its Water Initiative (EUWI) to great acclaim.

Its aim was to improve the effectiveness of EU aid for water and sanitation in order to help reach the Millennium Development Goals of halving, by 2015, the proportions of people without safe water and sanitation.

Three years later the EUWI has failed to help a single extra person gain access to water and sanitation.

Around the world, 1.1 billion people remain without safe water, 2.6 billion people still have no access to basic sanitation and every minute four children die from water-related diseases.

The EU Water Initiative and its separate but equally ineffectual EU Water Facility* are outrageous and indefensible failures that are costing lives.

We are asking you to join us in calling for sweeping reform to put the EU Water Initiative on-track and to scrap the EUWF altogether.

Read more about the failure of the EUWI and download the full report in our Policy news area

How can I take action?

You can help by taking a few moments to send a fax to your MEP via the simple online service provided by http://www.writetothem.com/.

Simply tap in your postcode to find out who your European Representatives are and ask them to challenge the EUWI and demand that the EUWF be scrapped. We have prepared a brief message that you can copy and paste below but please personalise the message before sending it.

Once you have found the MEP you wish to contact just copy the following text into the form at http://www.writetothem.com/:

I am very concerned that for the last four years the European Union Water Initiative has failed to deliver water and sanitation to a single extra person. Please do everything in your power to reform the EUWI. WaterAid and Tearfund research suggests that as a start there should be measurable targets and six month reports - the first of which should be at the next meeting of the EUWI.

World water day is 22nd March 2008.

We are always keen to hear how your messages have been received. Please write back to campaigns@wateraid.org and let us know what your MEP said.

*Six months after launching its Water Initiative the EU set up the separate EU Water Facility (EUWF), a funding pot of €500 million. Hard pressed officials from developing countries are now making lengthy applications to the EUWF but the vast majority of these will never be successful since the funds are not enough to go round. The EUWF is 15 times oversubscribed.

A child dies every 15 seconds from water-related diseases.
Also take action via online and: Tell the G8 leaders to urgently address the crisis in sanitation and water at their next summit in Japan.

The international effort on sanitation and water is in disarray. Make your voice heard.
