Tools In Traditional Witchcraft

Author: Pagan Sanctuary

What is left on the altar or used by the practitioner are tools. These
Can be anything such as candles, incense, oils, poppets, an athame,
Cords, herbs, chalice, bowls water salt, crystals, glyph, runes --
Indeed anything that the practitioner can use to aid in focusing on
His/her purpose -- along with the items that are needed to complete
The spell. Remember that part of the ability to create a desired
Manifestation is that you need to be able to visualize the completion
Of the spell.

When one uses the tools they are creating not only a visual and
Psychological link of the caster to the energy, but a tool also acts
As a means of directing more energy into the spell, without draining
The caster. This energy, along with the ritual that binds the energy
Into a spell, is what is known as Magick and this is what creates the
Desired manifestation.

The very essence of magick is difficult to explain in one single
Article, essay or even book. We, the practitioners of magick, may have
Problems explaining it in simple terms but we not only know that there
Is such a thing as magick but we know we can control and use that
Energy that makes up what magick is.

Casters do this through various means: mental control, use of oral
Recitation and music to create vibrations and resonances that mirror
Or mimic the energy that makes up Magick, the use of various
Artifacts, to the use of hand gestures, and finally, tools.

These use of tools along with other means as stated earlier, all act
Upon the Subconscious Mind to aid the practitioner in achieving the
Alpha State and forcing our will upon the energy that we are tapping into.

Some people, especially the `Playgans', will try and tell people that
The bigger and more expensive the tool is the more power that tool
Has. Thus a wand that you buy from their shop for fifty dollars is
More powerful than any that you make. This is not only wrong but is
Actually a means of defrauding you, the buyer.

In Traditional Witchcraft the practitioner should make as many of
His/her tools as possible. Your wand, staff, incense and other tools
Are better and more powerful if you make them since it is your energy
That you are putting into them as you transform them from a generic
Item to a mystical tool. Your tools will become a part of you, so if
You can make them, do so.

The more you work at creating the tool, the more that tool becomes an
Extension of your will and spirit.

As stated earlier, it is not a sign of success for you to have the
Most expensive and exquisite of tools for a spell to work. The true
Means of insuring success is belief, the emotion you put into the
Spell and the discipline that you show. You cannot play at being a
Witch. If you feel that you cannot dedicate your life to the religion
Then you should look elsewhere. This religion is not for the faint of
Heart.

Knowing that your tools are a representation of and an extension of
Your will you now need to know what tools are as a means of storing
Energy.

All tools, regardless of what they are, have been created as a means
Of not only storing energy but many are also used for a set purpose
And as such may be a one time thing, such as a candle, poppet or even
Incense.

So you should know that tools are either constantly used or for one
Use. Some are used over and over again, not for just healing or
Baneful acts, but more as a storehouse of the energy that you put into
The tool. Other tools will be used once per spell and then will be
Destroyed in the process of the spell casting, I.e. Candles, incense,
Parchment, or as part of the spell, bottle, poppet, foo powder and
Coffins.

All tools act as set reminder of your ability to cast spells and as a
Means of massing energy into the spell.

The tools have inherent powers -- such as certain potions, herbs and
Oils, which have the energy of the herb -- and the combining of two or
More tools together may create a third. But tools also act as a
Storehouse for the energy that you are generating and as a means of
Projecting the energy outwards to create the desired manifestation.

Tools act on the mental preparation of the caster, as through the use
Of the tools, you are then forcing the Subconscious mind forward to
Reach and maintain the Alpha State that is required to cast a spell
Effectively.

The energy pf the tool and the frequency of that energy combine with
That of the caster to increase the power of the spell. Thus a simple
Spell that has only a few simple tools does not have as much energy
generated and maintained than say when the High Priest and High
Priestess cast the Cone Of Power. All others pale by comparison.

You have a simple spell being like a bullet whereas a spell that is
done with Power Words and as High Magick is likened to a missile. Both
will hit a target but what one is more powerful then the other?

Tools are both a visual and auditory aid along with a manual aid that
all act to help in achieve the Alpha State. Tools are the Magickal
implements that are the extension and the expression of the will of
the caster.

Anytime that a spell is done it is best to gather as many symbols,
tools, artifacts, and any other items that will act as a physical
links to the spell and thus will enhance energy.

These items and symbols of your desire can take the form of physical
items: various colors, statues or artifacts, incense, pictures, herbs,
crystals and stones, or items linked to a person.

Here are some of the basic tools used in witchcraft:

Altar
POWER: Fixed

Representation of the Void; used for workplace and as a link to the
God/dess becomes the focal point of the energy.

Candles
POWER: Non-fixed

These are tools that are a one-time use. They can be used for all
types of spell work and represent the Fire Elemental.

Cords
POWER: Both

Cords can be used as a single or repetitive use. Single use such as
binding and curses where they are destroyed in a means according to
the spell. Also they can be reused such as for healing, marriage, and
as a means of measuring.

MEASURING- or taking ones measure is used in Traditional Witchcraft
covens. This is a way of ensuring the oath that one attests to. The
Measure is meant as a physical representation of the severity of the
Oath to the Five Laws of the Magi. The reason for this as a symbol is
the fact that during the Spanish Inquisition those who were
practitioners of the Craft and those that were Cowens would be tied or
chained and dragged to their deaths.

In the Neo-pagan groups, these Measures are returned as a sign of
trust and many do not even do the Measures Ritual.

Incense
POWER: Non-fixed

This represents the Elemental of Air and as such is a single use tool.
This can be used to heighten psi abilities, for purification, for
protection. The incense can be used for baneful and beneficial spell
work, depending on the desire of the caster and the herbs that are used.

You need to remember that some herbs must be cautiously used due to
the fact that certain herbs act upon the human body in various ways.
They can be hallucinogenic, a nervine, a sedative or even very vile
smelling and/or lethal if inhaled.

Cauldron
POWER: Fixed

Representation of the Water elemental and as such is used in a
majority of rituals. The cauldron can be used for creation of herbal
remedies, oils, potions and poisons, and can be used for the cooking
of feasts dedicated to the God/dess.

If you are using one to create herbal remedies that one should be used
only for that. These are made out of iron and can have a lid. Their
size can vary.

If you desire one, you can go to a cooking section in a large store or
warehouse and buy what they call a Dutch oven, which is nothing more
then a cauldron with a lid.

Personally I have a total of four of these tools. One is used solely
for lighting the Beltane Fire and the rest of them are used for
cooking or brewing.

Wand
POWER: Fixed

This is a representation of the God. It is in essence the phallus of
the God. The wand, athame, sword and staff are all reminders and
representations of the God. This is also the symbol of the Strength
Within The Male Polarity.

Athame
POWER: Fixed

This is a representation of the God. The wand, athame, sword and staff
are all reminders and representation of the God.

Sword
POWER: Fixed

This is a representation of the God. The wand, athame, sword and staff
are all reminders and representation of the God. This is also the
symbol of the Strength Within The Male Polarity.

Knife
POWER: Fixed

This is a representation of the God.

Staff
POWER: Fixed

This is a representation of the God.

Chalice/cup
POWER: Fixed

This is the physical representation of The Goddess and the Womb held
within. Through Her comes the Water of Life and we can honor Her
through the use of this tool. The Cup/Chalice is the symbol of the
Water Elemental.

Bowl
POWER: Fixed

This is the symbol of the Water Elemental and is used not only in the
honoring The God/dess but also in various rites and rituals. The bowl
is used to hold liquids, offerings, and ashes.

Incense burner
POWER: Fixed

This is the physical representation of the Air Elemental. This is
solely used to burn incense.

Herbs
POWER: Special

These are used in both rituals for spell work and for healing. Their
powers and abilities come from the Earth and as such are the physical
representations of the Earth Elemental.

Stones/Crystals
POWERS: Special

These are the physical representation of the Earth Elemental and gain
their powers through the frequency of the energy that they give off.

Crystals that are straight and have a dual point are the
representation of the God whereas those that have a cluster are the
aspect of the bounty and fertility of the Goddess.

The energy retained within the stones or crystals are excellent
mediums for storing energy, as through their own physical property
they are a natural generator of energy.

Pentagram/pentacle
POWERS: Fixed and Special

The Pentagram is the physical representation of the Goddess, not so
much like what the neopagans say, but due to the fact that this is the
representation of Her Power on Earth. The Planet Sacred to the Goddess
is the Planet that bears Her name, Venus. Venus once every 4 years
will create a sign of Her Presence by forming a Perfect Pentagram in
the heavens.

The Ancient Greeks saw this and understood this and had set up the
Olympic Games so that they would fall upon the end of Her Cycle. This
is known as the Cyclonic Movement.

Each of the Points represents the Five Elementals, The Five Laws of
the Magi and the power of PHI.

Either worn or on a disk or drawn upon the ground, this is the Sacred
Link to the Practitioner and the Goddess and a constant reminder that
She is Ever Present.

Ring/Talismans
POWER: Special and Fixed

The use of rings and other forms of talismans are used by the
practitioner to store energy into and then through the use of an
incantation or rite they can draw the energy out of the tool.

The talismans/rings can also be empowered to act as a means of
physical protection. The talismans and rings can be made of any
natural occurring material. (NO MAN MADE MATERIALS CAN BE USED)

The designs of these can be varied according to the maker's desires
and what they are being used for. They can be engraved with script,
runes or symbols, again depending upon the makers' desires and what
the item will be used for. When the Witch makes his/her own tools
he/she is enduing these items with his/her own spirit and these can be
as plain or artistically designed as the person wants. The only
limitation is that the maker of the tool and the witch focus upon the
desire of what the tool will be used for.

Ale/wine/mead
POWER: Special

The use of alcohol in Pagan Religions dates back to the earliest of
religions. This is offered to the God and Goddess. Once empowered all
members of the Coven drink of this.

The most famous of the Pagan Cults that used alcohol well before the
Christians were the followers of Bacchus/Diansis. The Christians had
taken this idea of the use of alcohol to convert those who followed
the ancient religions.

Sacrifice
POWER: Special

The very word Sacrifice comes from the ancient Latin word meaning `to
make sacred'. Since the God and Goddess would have to sacrifice of
themselves to give aid to their followers, They had also demanded
sacrifices from Their followers. Blood sacrifices were also demanded,
but not as many of the neopagans and Christians think. Many of the
ancient religions did not sacrifice humans but did spill the blood of
the sacred animals. Later this animal would be cooked and consumed by
the followers. The consumption of the meat brought the spirit of the
God and Goddess closer to Their followers.

Sip Sarsparilla Tea by Annie B. Bond
Old-fashioned Sarsparilla was a popular soft drink in the 19th century and still is in some parts of the U.S., such as Pittsburgh. Note, however, that the popular soda isn¢t and wasn¢t made with real sarsparilla root, but birch oil and sassafras, the dried root bark of the sassafras tea.

Real Sarsparilla soda is made from the root of the sarsparilla plant and has medicinal properties similar to sassafras, including building up a sweat, helping to treat various illnesses where a sweat is handy. It is also known to help sexual impotence, rheumatism, skin ailments, and edema. You can make Sarsparilla tea yourself at home. Here is more about Sarsparilla tea from Herbal Tea Gardens: 22 Plans for Your Enjoyment and Well-being by Marietta Marshall Marcin (Storey Publishing, 1999).

Also called American sarsaparilla, wild ginseng, wild sarsaparilla, and wild spikenard, Aralia nudicaulis is a Native American plant. Pronounced sassparilla or sarsaparilla, it was used by Native Americans to make a soothing, perspiration-inducing tea that was believed to alleviate rheumatism, gout, and skin diseases.

The herb thrives in the moist, shaded forests of southern British Columbia and northeastern Washington. American sarsaparilla tea is thought to promote healthy tissue growth for internal and external ulcers and wounds. Some people once believed the tea would cure syphilis. A jamaican cousin, Smilax arnata, is the evergreen vine used to make the sarsaparilla drink that was so popular in the late nineteenth century.

Sarsaparilla is a tender, deciduous perennial. The long yellow taproot is similar to that of ginseng. A single stem branches into three parts, each having five 2- to 5-inch, finely toothed, lance-shaped leaves. The flowering stalk that comes from the root is over- shadowed by the leaf stalk. Clusters of greenish flowers, which bloom from June to August, are followed by whitish berries that become purple or almost black when they mature. This herb grows freely and thrives well with routine management. It is best adapted for semi-wild and informal plantings.

The root, which is dug in autumn, is the part used for tea. The root has a bitter licorice flavor and brews a reddish brown tea with a refreshing and fragrant flavor.

How to brew:
Stir 2 teaspoons ground fresh root into 1 cup boiling water. Steep to taste. Sweeten with honey or sugar, if desired. Good hot or cold.

LIVE TV SHOW SHOWS GASSING OF DOGS TOMORROW !!!

+++++++++++++  PLEASE CROSS POST ++++++++++++++++++

Dear Friends of Animals,

Clinton supporter North Carolina Governor Mike Easley has failed to request the introduction of legislation which would override the Commissioner of Agriculture's recent removal of the state's own board's recommendation to end the killing of pets by carbon monoxide gas under the excuse that "aggressive dogs are safer to kill by gas." Most of this country uses injection to euthanize even aggressive dogs, including 67 of North Carolina's  100 counties, but the Ag. Commissioner's people appear to be claiming that aggressive dogs in the 37 counties which DO use gas are more vicious than those in the 63 which do not.  It is not worth commenting.  This kind of false excuses by politicians is what has caused so many voters to not vote.

I urge you to watch the video at: http://www.companionanimalnetworktv.org/Videos/yadkin_county.mov

and see the gassing being done TODAY in Yadkin County and 36 other counties in N.C. (63 use injectable). It takes 2-3 minutes to load. This video will be shown tomorrow night in NYC on Time Warner Queens Ch. 34 at 8 PM, and in Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Nassau and Suffolk counties and the Hamptons in Long Island where the move stars live.  It will then go into reruns for many years to come, airing twice every year on all our cablesystems. Our television program is carried by Cablevision, Time Warner, and RCN Cable. Though this video is on our website, I had chosen not to watch it until last night, in preparing it to be broadcast on the show.  IT SHOOK ME TO THE CORE !!  IF YOU REFUSE TO WATCH THE ATTACHED VIDEO YOU WILL NOT BE MOTIVATED TO DO WHAT YOU WOULD OTHERWISE DO, AND YOU WILL BE JUST AS MUCH TO BLAME FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THIS MONSTROSITY !!

After watching the video please call N.C. Gov. Easley at               919-733-4240        and               919-733-5811       , Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler at               919-733-7125       , and Chamber of Commerce Pres Lew Ebert at               919-836-1407        and tell them that you will boycott N.C. goods and will spread the word about the practices of N.C.  If Gov. Easley's office tells you that the Agriculture Commissioner is a separately elected office, tell Mr. Easley that the governor can cause the introduction of state legislation banning gassing.

In Georgia, even though a law was passed banning gassing of animals, the State Assenblyman who passed that law has sued the state for refusing to enforce it 10 years after enactment. States which still allow gas must be federally banned from doing so. I have spoken with the attorney doing that law suit. Also, please ask the Democratic and Republican Platform Committees to include a ban on all gas killing of animals. I, for one, an uncommitted voter, have decided to NOT vote for Obama nor McCain unless and until one or the other addresses this issue by agreeing to nationally ban gas killing of animals. I intend to reach both campaigns.

This email needs to be mass distributed nationally, being sent to blogs, other media, yahoogroups. Please forward it to everyone you know. The power of the internet and television to force change has been proven over and over.  Please help us end this monstrous practice NOW!  If this was happening to you or me every day which passed by would matter.  Just think of the southern summer heat inside those kill boxes, with dozens of pets stuffed in them like toys, pinned against one another unable to move even a paw.  Just think of the horror, the anguish, the fear, the TERROR !!!

The Legend of Atlantis

The legend of Atlantis has to be one of the oldest and most
spellbinding of all the world's mysteries. It has puzzled both
skeptics and believers alike.   Where exactly was Atlantis and where
is it now?  What caused its destruction?  Exactly how advanced were
the Atlanteans?  I hope someday everyone will know the answers to
those questions.

Plato, a Greek philosopher, gave us the first known account of
Atlantis.   Plato was said to have lived from about 428 to 348 B.C.
He was a student of Socrates.  After studying with Socrates, Plato
opened up his own philosophy school.  There he began to write his
philosophies in a play-type form.  These dialogues always featured
Socrates as the main character.  In the dialogues Timaeus and Critias,
he wrote about an amazing place called Atlantis. In Critias, Plato
wrote of Atlantis' architecture, engineering, and ceremonies in great
detail.  Many people, even Plato's own students, thought this place
was Plato's own creation, but he argued that Atlantis was real, and
filled with more splendors than anyone could imagine.

All races share the story of a great flood that destroyed an entire
civilization.  The name Atlantis appears in various forms throughout
the world.  The Canary Islands have a legend involving Atalaya.  The
Basques of Northern Spain have Atlaintica.  The Vikings told the tale
of Atli.  Northern Africa called it Attala.  The Aztecs have Aztlán,
and the North American Indians called theirs Azatlán.

Plato said Atlantis was a large island in the Atlantic Ocean,
somewhere west of the Pillars of Hercules (the Rock of Gibraltar).
This description has lead to many people believing that Atlantis could
have been the Aegean Island of Thera (Santorini) which suddenly blew
up.  Atlantis was also identified as part of an ancient series of land
bridges that stretched across the Atlantic and even out into the
Pacific as far as New Zealand.  Others say that the Canary Islands are
the tops of Atlantis' tallest mountains.  Some say that the Bermuda
Triangle is the result of Atlantis sinking.  The discovery of
blue eyes and blondness among some of Africa's Berbers soon led some
people
to place Atlantis in the Atlas Mountians of modern Morocco and
Tunisia.   Still others claim that Atlantis was not even on this planet.

According to the continental drift theory, all the continents fit
together, like a jigsaw puzzle.  If you look at a map, you will see
that the continents really do fit together- with the exception of the
USA in North America and Western Europe.  Could Atlantis be the
missing piece?

According to Plato, one of the best splendors of Atlantis was the
palace compound located in the heart of its capital. It was ringed by
three canals. Plato remarked, "As each king received it [the palace]
from his predecessor, he added to its adornment and did all he could
to surpass the king before him, until finally they made of it an abode
amazing to behold for the magnitude and beauty of its workmanship.
The visitors passed through a wall of brass, a wall of tin, and a wall
of copper.  White and black and red stone quarried from the native
rock."  He also wrote that the wealth they possessed
was so immense that the like had never been seen before in any royal
house, nor will ever easily be seen again.  This, of course, lead to
Atlantis' destruction.

He stated that the Atlanteans appeared to be superlatively fair and
blessed, yet they were filled with lawless ambition and power. The
Atlanteans started valuing material wealth above goodness-that's where
they went wrong.  Plato said, "The portion of divinity within them was
now becoming faint and weak through being oftentimes blended with a
large measure of mortality."  The Atlanteans were unable to bear the
burden of their possessions. So, "There occurred portentous
earthquakes and floods, and one grievous day and night befell them,
when...the island of Atlantis...was swallowed up by the sea and
vanished."  Plato doubted that any sign of the lost land would ever be
found. "The ocean at that spot, has now become impassable and
unsearchable." This
contributes to the Bermuda Triangle theory above.

Even though it seems that no one could survive such a tragedy, it is
believed that many Atlanteans escaped. One example of this is Edgar
Cayce.  In April of 1939, he fell into a trance and spoke about
Atlantis. "In Atlantis, when there was the breaking up of the land
came to what was called the Mayan Land or the what is now
Yucatan-entity was the first to cross the water in the plane or air
machine of that period." In support of the escape, Atlantis has been
hailed for spawning civilizations such as Hellenic Greece, the Mayas &
Incas of the New World, and ancient Egypt.

Atlantis has had an impact on every culture. In 1675, Olof Rudbeck, a
Swedish scholar, used Homeric sailing directions to Ogygia and located
Atlantis in Sweden.  English poet William Blake, believed that the
Atlantean King, Albion lead the last of his subjects to Britain, where
they became Druids.   Charles-Etienne Brasseur de Bourbourg, a French
scholar, translated a Mayan manuscript in 1864, that described the
story of an ancient land that had sunk into the ocean after a great
catastrophe.  In 1882, Philadelphian politician, and avid reader,
Ignatius Loyola Donnelly published his book Atlantis: The Antedefuvian
World.  The world's reception of his writings was so great,
Donnelly was elected to membership in the American Association for the
Advancement of Science.

The most important thought that is on everyone's mind is not where,
what, or
how, but will.  Will Atlantis ever resurface??    - by TisavadeT@aol.com

Will the World Really End on December 12, 2012?

by Jean-Claude Koven, the author of
Going Deeper: How to Make Sense of Your Life When Your Life Makes No Sense

rainbow_bar_300_horiz_lp.jpg (2095 bytes)

I was recently asked how I interpreted the Mayan and Hopi
predictions that the world, as we know it, will end on the 12th of
December, 2012. Would there be global war - possibly triggering a
nuclear holocaust? Would the planet's life forms finally succumb to
the ecological quagmire that's been building in our soils, oceans and
atmosphere? Would the current steady increase of previously unknown
diseases overcome our ability to defend against them? Or will we
suddenly move into a new Golden Age in which the lion lies down with
the lamb and struggle, pain, and suffering are gone forever?

This is no small question. Quite the contrary, it deals with some
of the larger concepts in the universe. From a metaphysical
perspective, the world ends and recreates itself every instant.
December 12, 2012 is certainly no exception. However, it does offer a
target date that brings all the possible scenarios into vivid focus.

What we perceive from our vantage point of being in human form is only
a teeny sliver of the infinite swirl of interpenetrating realities
that make up the universe. To us, there is a past, present, and
future. Time appears to move predictably from moment to moment forming
the days and years of our lives. 2012 is a real date on our calendars
and each of the possible scenarios can be seen to be advancing
steadily toward it like race horses to the finish line.

If you were to ask the "2012 End-of-the-World" question of a gifted
psychic, she (or he) would gaze into several of the parallel universes
making up our possible futures and report back on the one that seemed
to be the most vivid. This is like a handicapper picking the favorite
in a particular race. Just as in horse racing, the favorite often
wins, or comes close. But not always. On any given day, one of the
longshots might cross the line first while the favorite trails the field.

From a cosmic perspective, picking the winning scenario is easy.
Understanding the nature of how this can be done is considerably more
elusive. Infinity is impossible to grasp in finite terms. When we pose
a finite question in an infinite realm, it's like trying to cram a
herd of stampeding elephants into a match box. It won't be the lack of
effort that defeats us, but the minuscule size of the container we are
trying to use.

Our minds are the matchbox. We are going to have to think way out of
the box to begin to grasp the answer to how the world will end on
December 12, 2012.

The simple answer is that every one of the possible scenarios you can
envisage will find expression in one or more of the myriad parallel
universes that manifests in every instant. And that includes the date
spoken about by so many as the moment our world comes to an end. What
adds weight to this date is the fact that with each passing hour more
people are becoming aware of it and adding their energies to the
consensus. We have already seen the power of agreement at work in
events such as World Healing Day, The Harmonic Convergence and other
moments of focus. It was not the calendar date that created the power,
it was the cohesive intent of those who took part.

Having said that, it is no mere coincidence that so many disparate
cultures all around the world who have had no known contact with one
another should focus on the same date. There is increasing evidence
that the time leading up to 12/12/12 does mark the presence of an
energy portal that has never before been accessible to the human race.
Each of us is being offered an opportunity to shift that may not again
arise in thousands of years to come.

Whether or not December 12, 2012 marks an immutable cosmological event
or not becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy is moot. There is no
question that it looms as a very significant moment. What concerns us
most is wanting to know what will happen. At one end of the bell-curve
of probabilities is total physical annihilation. At the opposite end
is the arrival of the Golden Age we all dream about. Every other
conceivable possibility lies between them. Somewhere near the center
of the curve most people will find their most probable possibility in
which the monumental moment will pass quietly like Y2K and their lives
will appear to continue as if nothing happened at all. December 13,
2012 will dawn as clocks continue to tick and the human race continues
to move one day closer to whatever future harvest it has sown. That
doesn't mean that many other people, who live their lives at the
extremities of the curve, won't experience radically different events.

Imagine, if you will, that you are in the center of a vast central
train station. The tracks are arranged like the spokes of a giant
wheel, each moving away from the center in a different direction. The
trains are all scheduled to depart at the same moment on December 12,
2012. Every human being on Earth is at the station, free to board any
of the trains he or she chooses. Each train is destined for a
different parallel universe in which one of the innumerable
possibilities is played out.

You (like everyone else) are at the station free to board any one of
an almost infinite number of trains. But, like the psychic, you can
only see one or two of them. Your choices appear meager - almost as if
you had no choice at all and your future was determined totally by
fate. Such is not the case at all - unless, of course, you want it to be.

If you remember the station scene in the Harry Potter books (or
movies)  in which the wizard children were able to board the Hogwarts
Express on platform 9 3/4 by walking straight through a concrete
pillar, then you will begin to see how all this works. What is
delightfully easy for wizards is equally impossible for muggles
(non-wizards).

The Hogwarts Express is bound for the next dimension - the Golden Age
of our dreams. The problem is that until you become a wizard, you have
no way of finding the right platform. The world, as you know it will
definitely end on December 12, 2012, if that's what you choose. You
will definitely be there when it happens, boarding one of the infinite
number of trains leaving the station. Every one of us will be required
to be on board.

Now that you know where you will be on the day the world ends, you get
to decide which train you'd like to ride. There is still time
(according to the calendars of this illusion) before the trains must
leave the station. Plenty of time for you to leave your muggle world
behind and become the wizard you already are. The choice, as always,
is yours.

Parenting the Psychic Child

I'm anxiously seeking as much information as possible regarding
the Indigo children. My 4 children, especially my 2 oldest children
have been telling me things for years now that my own imagination is
quite limited to understanding.  In the past as most parents, I simply
discarded their statements as over active imaginations. I feel that is
no longer the correct means to support my children, whom are so admit
regarding the events that have occurred in their lives.   Totally in
shock at this all, I am now looking for research to help me as well as
my children into a higher understanding. What do you suggest?
Sincerely, Tina, Mother of Four

There are a number of good books on the market about Indigo Children;
two are The Care and Feeding of Indigo Children by Doreen Virtue PhD
and Jan Tober ISBN: 1561708461 and The Indigo Children: The New Kids
Have Arrived by Lee Carroll, Jan Tober ISBN: 1561706086.  Both of
these can be very helpful. You'll find lots more listed, along with
links to other useful sites on our Resources pages.

There are also a number of sites and discussion groups on the web for
Indigo kids and their parents, so keep shopping and you'll find some
other resources.  In the meantime, my best suggestions are:

   1.

be an observant, aware and alert parent - keep a journal of what
you notice coming from your children - record their dreams and
thoughts, any unusual experiences - and review the journal regularly.
This will help you to tune into their symbology and also help you to
figure out how to help them... over time you will notice patterns and
so on that will be meaningful and then you can help the kids to
understand what is going on for them...
   2.

Be an active listener for them - what I mean is, when they come
to you with a story or an experience, ask probing questions to help
them assimilate and understand what has happened, eg start by saying
something like, "isn't that interesting, and who else was with you?
what time was it, did you get a sense of the season? where were you?
did you smell anything? what colours did you notice? How do you know
that, dear? where did you hear/learn that? what makes you say that?
what else did you see, feel, notice?" questions that express interest
and acceptance and at the same time help you both to dig a little
deeper into what is going on.
   3.

Avoid "performances" - ie don't put your kids on the spot by
asking them to make predictions, do healings or see past lives, or
whatever for your friends, guests or whomever.... And if they should
see something spontaneously, teach them to be respectful about their
gifts - one way this manifests is that we don't tell folks stuff  or
do any work on them without asking their permission... anything we do
in the spiritual realms must be "for the good of all, according to the
free will of all" - the only exceptions is when there is some danger,
and then we have an obligation to speak to help someone to avoid harm.
   4.

teach them to eat naturally, and to live balanced lives - lots
of sleep, healthy play, lots of good time in nature, with animals and
peers... connecting with nature and with animals will help your kids
to stay grounded - and will also help them to connect with their gifts
and even practice in ways that are easy and fun... teach them to talk
with the trees and the rocks in your garden - they probably already
are talking with them, but may not understand how closely connected
they are with the elements of their world.  Eating natural foods - no
processed stuff, low on sugars and simple carbohydrates, little soda
or junk food, lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, this will make
sure the kids are strong physically and can handle the energy they are
running - as we raise our vibrational frequencies, we need to be very
careful of our diets, some foods just don't agree with us... in fact
you may find the kids have a variety of allergies... you can avoid
some of these problems by eating right and staying with natural foods,
whole grains, fresh veggies and foods, home baking instead of store
bought treats... Avoid drugs, as much as possible, seek natural remedies.
   5.

teach them to ground - Try to keep the environment happy, lots
of colour, plants, living things, except around the sleeping area
where they needs tranquility... try also to live close to the ground,
this will help the kids to stay grounded...  keep the environment
natural, warm and comfortable and organized - have some stones and
crystals around.... that may seem like an odd suggestion, but for
these extra sensitive kids, an organized home and life is
comforting... and the stones help them to tune in...  their minds are
absorbing a lot more information than ours may be, and they are
sensitive to the energy associated with confusion... having things
organized around them also helps them to organize the information they
are receiving more easily. Sleep is also very important to these
Indigo kids, but they may not need a lot... what they need is quiet
time, a space to chill out and sort out all of the energy they have
been exposed to in a day... if they can't sleep, they can read
quietly, listen to some good music, draw... any quiet contemplative
task that will enable them to relax and process some energy.  I urge
parents to insist on at least 10 hours of down time every day for
these kids... if they don't want to sleep, then they must learn to
meditate and relax in this time, to read, write, draw, sing - yes,
sing, that's good for the soul and can help these little ones to focus
their minds so they can finally relax. But they must stay in their
rooms for this time, no radio, TV or other toys... (I exempt dolls and
cuddly things from the no toys rule in this quiet time) they need this
quiet time desperately to recharge, and also to assimilate what they
are sensing and feeling in a day.
   6.

Be knowledgeable yourself - invest some time and energy in
learning about the psychic realms, creation philosophy, mediumship,
interdimensional communications, astral travelling, out of body
experiences, ghosts and spirits. Be prepared to answer questions
honestly - and even more improtatnly, to be able to relate to your
child's experiences and help them to make the most of their gifts.

From there it's up to you... I would encourage you to get these kids
involved in a meditation class - this will help them to work with
their abilities, no matter what they are.  There is a growing number
of books targeted to the Indigo Kids, books that will help them learn
some of the basics, the values that are necessary and also to explore
their abilities.

In your shoes, I would be taking as many classes and reading as much
as I could about being psychic and mediumship and metaphysics in
general - study quantum physics especially and learn about how we
create our own reality... And you will all need to study the symbols -
eg the nature symbols and colours that come as messages... there are
lots of good books on these... Ted Andrews' AnimalSpeak will give you
a good dictionary of many nature symbols, insects, birds, animals...
by being knowledgeable and understanding yourself you will be a good
guide for your kids.

You want to allow their gifts to develop naturally, at a pace that
they can cope with... and at the same time, you must teach them
appropriate values - compassion, acceptance and responsibility - in
order for the kids to make the most of their gifts.

Otherwise, remember that these are kids still, special kids maybe, but
ordinary kids all the same... what they need most is love and a
nurturing environment in which to grow and build on their natural
talents... no different from a talented ball player or a young
musician... So, I do hope that helps. Lotsa LLLove, Danielle

I am the mother of an incredible 3 year old.  I've always known
she was special, people are drawn to her.  Her life has been in
turmoil lately due to my separation and now divorce from her father.
On a particularly bad day in July, our car broke down at the shopping
mall and while we were waiting for a tow truck we met a very
interesting woman.  My daughter greeted her as she was entering the
mall.  The woman approached us and started to inform me that my
daughter was an "Indigo Child" or "Child of the New Dream" because of
the blue in her aura.  I found this very intriguing.  Because of what
had been going on in my life I had been looking for a lot of spiritual
guidance, signs, and meanings in the things around me.  The most
comforting thing she said was my daughter was put here to  teach her
parents lessons.  This information was helpful to me regarding the
decision to divorce her father.  Because of the circumstances in our
marriage, it would be a considerably b!etter for her if we did not
live together, which I prayed and struggled with for a long time.  I
would love to find out more about "Indigo  Children", I have purchased
the book by Lee Carroll and Jan Tober.  Now that we are getting into a
new routine, she is not so angry and returning to herself.  I would
love information on how to best parent and nurture her gifts.  I do
believe what this woman said, my daughter is quite perceptive, caring,
and radiates from within.  I wasn't sure what to do with this
information, it's nice to just tell someone. Yvonne

Well my dear, you have a special little girl with you, and I sense
that you are being guided in the ways of doing the best you can for
her...recognizing the effect of your personal life on her is a
critical first step in creating the right kind of environment for
these especially sensitive kids... as you have discovered she will
quite literally bounce off the energy that you are putting out... she
loves you very much, I sense a very old bond and a deep trust between
you - that also bodes well for your future. But it can make life
difficult in the short term since she will invariably react to your
moods, problems and issues... in the midst of a tough time, she will
hold her own as her way of doing what she can instinctively to keep
things together and to balance the energy around her, but then she
will have a breaking point, typically when things are starting to
settle out and it is clear what the new direction will be... as long
as you continue to be sensitive to her, you can help her through them
- just don't get caught up in any guilt trips, won't do either of you
any good... and you must understand that this little one chose her
circumstances, her parents and lifestyle very deliberately to help her
achieve a specific purpose in this life... she has a purpose in
experiencing this divorce with you... time will tell what it is.

Despite her brilliance, as my mother often reminded us (I am the
eldest of 6 and have 16 nieces and nephews, several of whom are likely
Indigo Children), you must remember who the parent is... do not let
her specialness change the way  you live with this little girl except
in the ways of helping her to stay open and to grow in whatever gifts
she may have...  Lotsa LLLove, Danielle
