Ask them to write to their MSPs and MPs and Welsh Assembly Members before 31st March, 2010
In the UK, from April 2011 you will no longer be able to get the manufactured herbal medicines that your Herbal or Ayur-Vedic practitioner recommends unless the UK Government and the Scottish and Welsh Governments do two things:
Introduces statutory regulation so that registered herbal and ayur-vedic practitioners can be considered to be ‘authorised health-care professionals’ under medicines law.
Implement a scheme that will allow registered herbal practitioners to have access to manufactured herbal medicines of assured quality. Manufactured means made in bulk according to good manufacturing practice (GMP) in an inspected facility.

Sample message to MSPs - please feel free to cut and paste, making any alterations or adding any points you wish:
"As a regular user of herbal medicines prescribed to me by professional herbal or ayurvedic practitioners, I would urge you to support the following motion which is being put forward in the Scottish Parliament by Marilyn Livingstone MSP. Without such a decision to regulate herbal practitioners I would face a diminution of choice in health care and possible negative effects on my own wellbeing and that of my family.
I will be very grateful for your support in this matter."
Marilyn Livingstone (Kirkcaldy) (Scottish Labour):
Congratulations to Keren Brynes MacLean—
That the Parliament congratulates Keren Brynes MacLean MNIMH on being awarded a national retail award for her herbal clinic and dispensary, Health Food and More, in Kirkcaldy; recognises the importance of herbal traditions in Scotland and the role that they play in Scotland’s rich cultural heritage; welcomes the contribution
that qualified herbal medicine practitioners make to the health of the people of Scotland; supports herbal medicine practitioners in gaining the
recognition and statutory regulation that they need to allow the people of Scotland choice in their health care and continued access to their indigenous
medicines, and recognises the need for regulation to prevent the access to herbal medicines through unqualified traders.
