"Wild animals never kill for sport. Man is the only one to whom the torture and death of his fellow-creatures is amusing in itself." - James A. Froude, Brittish historian.

Biological diversity is a very complicated issue, people still don't know the whole story, so what right have we to eliminate any breed of animal? We have no idea of the consequences of our actions, so we need to make better choices, i.e. to stop eliminating certain species from the cycle of life.

Dear FB friends, this is an update on the situation of possible animal abuse in my neighborhood. I've spoken to a neighbor who think she also heard something the morning of September 28th, but can't be sure as her fan was on all night and she didn't wake up, but her son did.

I called the Pasadena Humane Society to see if anyone reported the abuse. No one did, but the man there suggested I call the Pasadena Police Dept., as their response unit would answer the call quicker than the Humane Society could at that time of night. He also suggested I say only that I heard some "disturbing screaming" and not mention it was an animal, as their response would be a higher priority to people than animals. He also mentioned that without an exact street address, they would probably not go out at all.

So, I'm still trying to find out if anyone else on my street heard it and where it may have come from. The going is slow, but I'm not giving up.

Thanks again for your concern, I'll keep you posted on any news.

Dear Care2 friends,

Something really weird happened last night, I woke up at 3 in the morning because there was this horrible sound of a dog almost screaming, as though it was being tortured. I tried to figure out which direction it was coming from, when the sound stopped, the poor animal ending in a wail of pain and terror. I was about to get dressed and go try to find out where the sound was coming from, but Wade told me it was too dangerous. Then around 4am, it sounded like someone was building something or hammering something, like they were building a box or a container. It kept me up all night with nightmares, and I really don't know what I can do. If I go around and start asking questions, I might find something out, or I might let the mad man who did it know who I am. I feel sick to my stomach and don't know what to do. (The police won't go out on a call around here unless you have an address to send them to, so I'd need to know where the sounds were coming from.)

Does anyone have any ideas?

Dear Care2 Friends, please forgive me if I do not respond to your messages, cards, etc. My computer came down with a wicked virus and I'm having a hard time posting anything to this website. Have no idea when it will be fixed, low on funds for computer repairs!

Hugs to you all, I'll be back as soon as funds and time allows,
Diane T. and furfamily
