For Sakineh

In the Name of God,
Infinite in Mercy,
Tender in Compassion.

Listen!

A woman is a stone thrown
away from dieing.
Her children are crying.
There is no reason,
no ayat from Quran
that describes this.
No!  Allah never prescribed it!

We must put an end
to anything that breaks
our compassion.
We must defend
each other.
Oh, are we not
truly in Allah made
sisters and brothers?
And if it is true,
how can we harm
one another?

We must not invade
the heart and tear it apart.
We must stand hand in hand,
letting go of our weapons.
No matter who threatens,
we must speak out!
Without a doubt!

Yes, without a doubt
Islam tells us
we must take down
the oppressor;
we must speak for truth,
not for tyranny and war,
even if it is against
our own.  even if it be
our mother or father,
our sister or brother
who throws that first stone!
Islam insists we protect
the oppressed,
with our fists if we must.
All Muslims must stand up
for justice. If not me, who?
If not you, who?

Ya Allah!  Ya Wadud!
For You, this we do!

Hadith Qudsi 34: On the authority of Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: Allah the Almighty said:

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.

It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound.

"...let them forgive and overlook, do you not wish that God should forgive you? For God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Quran 24:22)

The prophet (saw) said "Heaven lies under the feet of your mother."
