Dear Friends of animals, Millions of kangaroos are being slaughtered for their skin to make cleats, jackets and other accessories.  They die painful deaths.  Please visit this site and do your part to help stop the legislation being considered in California that would allow this to continue.

Please help!!!
Please be advised that Huntington Beach Humane Society (the 'humane' part is questionable) is closing down for good on January 8 and ALL DOGS MUST BE ADOPTED OR THEY WILL BE EUTHANIZED. The shelter is not publicizing this very well (probably for fear of the bad publicity) so we need to spread the word. Please share this information with other animal lovers in the hopes that more animals will be adopted from there. If nothing else, maybe your funds can help move them to another humane facility....like in Irvine or San Clemente. The shelter is 'selling' the dogs for 50% off to move them out.

PLEASE SAVE THE LIFE OF A PRECIOUS ANIMAL.....THERE'S ONLY 7 DAYS LEFT. Even if you can't have one of your own, just forward this on to everyone you know and have them forward it on....you NEVER know who winds up wanting and getting a dog! I've been surprised numerous times by people who I never thought in a million years would get an animal!

If you feel moved, just get in the car and go down there and look - anybody you know need a belated Xmas gift? You just might find your (4 legged) true love there!!!

Fax: 714-536-4541

Please pass this on! I know some of you have extensive mailing lists.....no guilt required....just action! Thank you in their behalf. Who's gonna watch out for them if we don't?

Dear Friends,  I encountered a wonderful idea on the iWon Pet of the Day discussion board.  I'd like to share it with you.  This is the poster's original message, not edited.  However, look past the "netspeak" and see the wonderful ideas she has.  Maybe you can contact your congressman/woman and ask them if they can put this in as a National day of celebrating our best friends.  Thanks for looking and let me know what you think!

Colleen

WE HAVE AN ANIMAL SHELTER HERE IN TOWN & SOMEX IN THE FUTERE I WOULD LIKE 2 TALK 2 THE PARKS & REC DEPT & C IF THEY WOULD B WILLING 2 GO ALONG WITH A FUN DAY 4 MUTTS. I THINK A CERTAIN SATURDAY EVERY YR SHOULD B SET ASIDE--LIKE MAYBE THE 1ST SAT IN MAY SO IT WOULDN'T INTERFER WITH MOTHER'S DAY & MEMORIAL DAY--OR BIBLE SCHOOL WHICH USUALLY COMES IN JUNE--THEN THERE IS ALSO FAMILY VACATION X 2 CONSIDER L8R ON THRU THE SUMMER--SO I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THE 1ST SAT IN MAY WOULD B A GOOD X. WHEN I WAS GROWING ^ WE HAD A PET PARADE ON MAIN ST. EVERY YR. IT IS A HAPPY MEMORY 4 ME..

MY NEIGHBOR DOG--A LITTLE "MUTT" BROUGHT THE CORDLESS PH 2 HIS MOMMY, WHO HAS M.S., & WAS HOME ALONE & FELL--HE KNEW SOMEHOW SHE COULD CALL 4 HELP---HE WAS NEVER TOLD 2 DO IT--HE JUST DID IT. THERE R MANY LITTLE MUTTS ALL OVER THE WORLD WHO SAVE LIVES EVERY DAY WITHOUT ANY SPECIAL TRAINING.

SOME GAMES COULD B PLAYED--BUT MOSTLY JUST A DAY 2 PET THEM & SPOIL THEM ALL STINKIN' ROTTON! PRIZES COULD B GIVEN WITH NO DOG GOING HOME WITHOUT A LITTLE TOY OR BAG OF TREATS. $$$ FROM THE EVENT WOULD B GIVEN 2 THE HUMANE SOCIETY. 4 ME, THIS IS A DEFINITE PLAN. I JUST NEED 2 FIND SOME OTHERS 2 HELP & GIVE THEIR IDEAS ALSO.

WHO HAS 2 DECLARE A NATIONAL MUTTS' DAY??? SOME POLITICIAN??? WE HAVE NATIONAL GROUND HOG'S DAY WITH CELEBRATIONS--SO WHY NOT 1 4 OUR BEST FRIENDS??? I HAD A LITTLE MUTT WHEN GROWING ^ WHO SAT QUIETLY BESIDE ME THROUGH SOME TUFF XS IN MY LIFE WHEN I CRIED-- SO I AM SERIOUS ABOUT THIS.

I PLAN ON WRITING MY CONGRESSMAN ABOUT THIS--I DON'T CARE IF THEY JUST LAFF IT OFF AS SOMETHING SILLY--AFTER ALL THESE POLITICIANS MAKE AN ASS OF THEMSELVES ALL THE X SO I'M NOT AFRAID OF LOOKING LIKE 1 2 THEM. I'VE GOT ENUFF IRISH SPUNK 2 C THIS 2 THE FINISH IF THAT'S WHAT I HAVE 2 DO 2 GET IT DONE. I MAY B ABLE 2 GET PETA & THE ASPCA INTERESTED IN THIS AS WELL.

WE HAD A HORRIBLE ANIMAL ABUSE CT CASE HERE--SOME LITTLE POSSUMS WERE SET ON FIRE & A VIDEO OF IT WAS MADE BY THE CRIMINALS & PUT ON THE INTERNET. SOME1 REPORTED IT 2 PETA & THEY WERE PROSECUTED. BUT MANY WERE VERY ^SET WHEN THE JUDGE GAVE THE COLLEGE KIDS WHO COMMITTED THE CRIME JUST A SLAP ON THE FINGERS. HE EVEN SENTENCED THEM 2 WORKING IN AN ANIMAL SHELTER--& THEY EVEN GOT 2 PICK THEIR OWN X 2 SERVE THEIR DINKY LITTLE JAIL SENTENCE--EITHER DURING THE HOLIDAYS WHEN THERE WERE NO CLASSES OR DURING SCHOOL X & MISS OUT ON CLASS. IT WAS REDICULOUS & IT ^SET MANY PEOPLE. THIS FUN DAY COULD GENER8 SOME RESPECT 4 THESE HELPLESS LITTLE BABES. I WILL FIND OUT WHO THAT JUDGE WAS & 4 SURE WILL NOT VOTE 4 HIM IN THE NEXT ELECTION. A FUN DAY LIKE THIS EVERY YR WOULD ACCOMPLISH MUCH 4 OUR LITTLE BABES! CHILDREN MUST B TAUGHT 2 LOVE & RESPECT ANIMALS--THIS WOULD B A GOOD OPPPORTUNITY. LET ME KNOW WHAT U THINK OF ALL THIS. THANX!

[PAP911] Emergency! LOST PAPILLON near NASHVILLE, TN
I apologize to anyone that doesn't feel this is appropriate for your list, however we have an emergency situation, in that a Papillon recently adopted (around 4/20/06), not knowing her forever home yet, unsocialized, out of a mill breeders environment. She is a very frightened little girl, and that has escaped her home last night at 6 PM near Nashville, TN.

This is what has been done so far:
Micki (adopter/owner) has called the police, Humane Society, Area Shelters, Vets within 20 mi. of her home and is putting out flyers right now.
*Last seen on Debow St., Old Hickory, TN  37138
*Micki can be reached by email:  mouselyn2000@bellsouth.net  (@bellsouth.net), or phone: 615- 847- 4653
or cell: 625- 948- 5697
If you see her, please do not try to approach her or chase her.   Call Micki...  This little girl is very frightened even in a normal situation and will run from you. Try to keep an eye on her and call for help.
If you know anyone living in the area that possibly can help in the search, please cross post this email immediately and call them so they get the information ASAP.  We must find her before something happens to her.  Picture below..
Thank you all for your help,
God bless you,
Judy Burke

[PAP911] Emergency!

It is with great sadness and fear that I must inform you that I've lost Charlotte.  I left my back screen door cracked, and she got out around 6:00 PM yesterday evening.  Words can't even express what I'm going through.  I am bound by contract to report this.  I am hoping that you may be able to help me find her.
If you have any suggestions, please let me know.  After all she's been through, and all everybody has done...I am so sorry.
I wanted to report to the group in case anybody knew of ways to help me find her.  I have made up flyers and am calling all of the vets in the area.  My heart is so heavy.  I have been in tears since I realized she was gone.  I am still in a panic, crying every moment.  Just thinking about where she could possibly be has me very torn up.
Please help....

THANKS!!

Colleen

I just found a site that tells you where you can donate your old fur coats to help homeless wild animals!  Go to http://www.hsus.org/wildlife/fur_and_trapping/coats_for_cubs_doubles_return.html to read about it!  What a great idea!  Of course I don't HAVE furs but if you do, get rid of it in a very productive manner!
