FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.
Come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

High Hopes For Another Chelsea Gold
The BBC's gardening guru reckons New Zealand's garden at the Chelsea Flower Show could be a runner for a gold medal, but that will not be revealed until later in the day.

Tourism New Zealand's One-Hundred-Percent Pure New Zealand garden was unveiled in London overnight in drizzling rain and a chilly wind.

BBC presenter Wesley Kerr was in New Zealand earlier in the year to document the creation of the garden. In London last night, he praised designer Xanthe White for her efforts.

Mr Kerr says the garden is an incredible slice of New Zealand "brought brilliantly to life, which could possibly achieve a gold medal."

He says the Queen was likely to stop by and take a look when she visited the show last night. "She loves your plants, I think she'll love your garden," he said.

Mr Kerr also believes Prince Charles will be interested, as he is a keen gardener.

Mr Kerr suggests the site was not able to totally recreate the mountainous surroundings of the west Auckland bush and beach environment it is based on, because not enough height could be reached. But he says given the restrictions, the gardens works well, with the glass artworks and sculptured steel. He says the lancewood, pohutukawa and kauri trees are impressive.

Mr Kerr says a number of the plants died in transit but the quality of those remaining are in good condition which is important to the judges.

"It's a remarkable achievement to come 12,000 miles and produce a garden of this quality that so evokes the landscape of New Zealand, that has so many plants which people here won't have seen."

Mr Kerr says it is a hard garden to compare with others, because the plant material is so different and the design so innovative, but he says that is one of the reasons he believes it could very well be a contender for a gold medal.

The dignitaries at last night's unveiling of the New Zealand garden included Cabinet Minister Annette King; Mayor for Waitakere, Bob Harvey; New Zealand's representative in London Jonathon Hunt; and Tourism New Zealand CEO George Hickton.

Mayor Harvey is pleased with the garden, which is based on Karekare Beach in his region. He says in some ways, it reflects a Parliamentary bill the region is trying to push through, to keep the Waitakere Ranges and foothills untouched for future generations.

Annette King says the garden is a slice of New Zealand heaven in the centre of London

She says the New Zealand bush and beach design stands out amongst the traditional English gardens and the combination of water, native plants and the sculptures of shells and fern leaves are spectacular. She believes that if people look, listen and see what it is all about, the British will be very impressed.

George Hickton from Tourism New Zealand says the garden is bigger than New Zealand's gold award-winning effort in 2004 and also has a more contemporary edge.

Mr Hickton says the uniquely kiwi plants are unlike those in any other Chelsea garden.

The judges are now passing their verdicts on which gardens should win medals and the results will be known later today.

We convince ourselves that life will be better once we are married, have a baby, then another. Then we get frustrated because our children are not old enough and that all will be well when they are older. Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence and we must deal with them. Surely we'll be happier when they grow out of the teen years. The truth is that there is no better time to be happy than right now. If not, then when? Your life will always be full of challenges. It is better to admit as much and to decide to be happy in spite of it all. That point of view helped me see that there isn't any road to happiness. Happiness IS the road. So enjoy every moment. Stop waiting for school to end, for a reurn to school, to lose ten pounds, to gain ten pounds, for work to begin, to get married, for Friday evening, for Sunday morning, waiting for a new car, for your mortgage to be paid off, for spring, for sumer, for autumn, for winter, for the first or the fifteenth of the month, for your song to be played on the radio, to die, to be reborn...before deciding to be happy.

Happiness is a voyage, not a destination.
There is no better time to be happy than...NOW!
Live and enjoy the moment.

Now, think and try to answer these qustions:
1. Name the five richest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Miss Universe winners.
3. Name the last ten Nobel Prize winners.
4. Name the last ten winners of the Best Actor Oscar.
Can't do it? Rather difficult, isn't it? Don't worry, nobody remembers that. Applause dies away! Trophies gather dust!

Now answer these questions:
1. Name three teachers who contributed to your education.
2. Name three friends who helped you in your hour of need.
3. Think of a few people who made you feel special.
4. Name five people that you like to spend time with.
More manageable? It's easier isn't it? The people who mean something to your life are not rated "the best", don't have the most money, haven't won the greatest prizes...They are the ones who care about you, take care of you, those who, no matter what, stay close by. Think about it. Life is very short!

Some time ago, at the Seattle Olympics, nine athletes, all mentally or physically challenged, were standing on the start line for the 100m race. The gun fired and the race began. Not everyone was running, but everyone wanted to participate and win. They ran in threes, a boy tripped and fell, did a few somersaults and started crying. The other eight heard him crying. They slowed down and looked behind them. They stopped and came back...All of them...A girl with Down's syndrome sat down next to him, hugged him and asked, 'Feeling better now?' Then, all nine walked shoulder to shoulder to the finish line. The whole crowd stood up and applauded and the applause lasted a very long time. People who witnessed this still talk about it. Why? Because deep down inside us, we all know that the most important thing in life is much more than winning for ourselves. The most important thing in this life is to help others to win. Even if that means slowing down and changing our own race. A cancle loses nothing if it is used to kight another one.
