Importance of space preservation and Implications of the SPT-Space Preservation Treaty

All societies, long through-out the planet, reflect a great preoccupation about Peace. There is a real intention in achieving it though, we have to remember we are immersed in the war business. The whole global economy is based on the centralization of energy and the war and weapons industry. We must just analyze accurately the facts that repeat constantly in terms of the war equation. The equation, in fact, is very simple: First, you must choose a target, an enemy; we have seen this situation going on since the communist/soviet threat, going through the Japanese, until the decentralized international terrorism. Next, is to deploy the old weapons. Then you test the new ones and finally, you prepare the budgets for the next ones. Well, that's why it is virtually irrelevant that people around the world claim anything to stop this; there are contracts and budgets to run through.
The problem is reaching a real peace scenario, based on international cooperation. To achieve this, we need real actions, international laws that will permit us to induce the necessary changes for, utilizing that same infrastructures, transform and redirect goals and activities of the weapons and warfare industry.
Do to the reality that 3/4ths of the space industry (civil and military) has been launched and manufactured at/and from military platforms, that on the other hand must continue because we are not talking about deleting those infrastructures and jobs but, about redirecting those funds and resources used for R&D and testing of all those projects on space-based weapons which we don't want over our heads, into projects, products and services focused in the existing diverse solutions for the humanitarian and ecological crisis.
We must have in mind that the funds and resources applied to the weapons industry, are not just coming from the military sector, but universities, labs and other government departments and private sector. Which is known as the "military-industrial complex", so preoccupiedly claimed by Eisenhower, at the end of his mandate, in 1961.
It is important in not entering the discussion on which kind of weapons we are talking about. The SPT-Space Preservation Treaty specifies already, the permanent ban of ALL space-based weapons or any other weapons system based on space-based technology. This also means, there will be a prohibition on any kind of system capable of targeting and/or destroying any kind of object, in space, in the atmosphere or on Earth.
These named systems and military satellites, operatively in orbit, today, can be used to monitor Earth and outer space. Not only to verify and guarantee the permanent ban of all space-based weapons but to analyze the planet, the profitable resources and services in space and on Earth, for the benefit of all and in a peaceful and cooperative manner with the intention in offering existing solutions to the basic and necessary problems for a sustainable development; as for example, agriculture applications, population movements, climate reconnaissance, humanitarian opperations and other services that we could have achieved more extensively and positively, decades ago. We can create new systems and services, creating literally thousands of new jobs, for a world cooperative new space age economy and industry.
Under the premise of defense, the efforts and projects to make prevail the war economy/industry equation irrevocably permanent are ongoing. There is a continuing effort to establish the subventions, the funding and the technologies to develop, test, construct and deploy space-based weapons before we know what they are and why do we need them. Note we are not talking about hugh space systems, remember you can target any spot on the planet from three different places in orbit, using only three satellites. These space-based weapons systems are too costly, destabilizing, unnecessary and they won't protect us from anything. We do not need them. All these efforts to deploy space-based weapons are a clear attitude to "control" and "dominate" space. This attitude is far more pre-occupant than this weapons themselves.
This is why we must take the opportune decisions, now that we still have time.
It is true that some scientists think these space-based weapons have been already deployed; though this is not correct, satellites, space systems work on communications, navigation and recconnosaince applications plus their is no operational weapons on board this systems.
As a pioneering and incredibly important initiative in the current geopolitical scenario, we must gain conscience of the importance of preserving space, and so transform the war industry into a pro human industry, focused to directly apply existing solutions to confront the humanitarian and ecological crisis.
The United States Government is ongoing the necessary efforts to deploy space-based weapons, and as said in official documents, this effort is based on the issue of "control" and "dominance" of space and the world. Paul Wolfowitz, parliamentary representative for Donald Rumsfeld, current Defense Minister at the USA, said on October 2002: -"Space is the last frontier, it offers great and attractive options, not only concerning the ABM defense system but a whole amalgam of military and civil missions". In 2004, the US Air Force, quotes literally that its strategy is to "control" and "dominate" space.
From the SDI-Strategic Defense Initiative, back since the Reagan Administration, the term "Star Wars", to name the programs and agendas related with space-based weapons, has maintained till today. In fact, since George W. Bush and Richard Cheney are at a power position, the efforts to deploy space-based weapons has increased considerably. With literally billions of tax dollars flowing annually, for research, development, testing, production and deployment of space-based weapons; with the clear and unique goal of control, dominance and destabilizing the world, through fear and disinformation.
It is evident that we will never achieve a real peace scenario, using more weapons.
Imagine how many problems we may resolve destinating those efforts, resources and funds, actually focused on the war industry, in for example; systems to control agriculture, geological reconnaissance and observation, population movement assistance and resource management as water supplies and thousands of other applications and services that may and will impulse a world in peace and for a sustainable development. It is through this new economy that we may balance and eradicate poverty.
Big changes, impose great respect though, more fear must give us, not doing anything. We must become aware about the gravity of the situation and assume the responsibilities that have been called on to us, weather we like it or not, we must resolve certain problems in the way to continue life and society as we know it.
In economic terms, the redirecting of the enourmous resouces and funds destinated to the weapons industry, it can and it must be glimpsed as the unique answer for all our problems; being of ecological or of an humanitarian scope. A solution that will permit us to continue with the current infrastructures that form our complex societies.
The collapse of the current energetic and economic systems, are not only guaranteed because of evident reasons, but will suppose the beggining of a new era based on international cooperation and a coherent management of the abundance to gain more justice. According to Ana Maria Gomez (Portugal), Vice-President of the Security and Defense Comite at the European Parliament; only at the European Union, it is spent more than 5 billion dollars in military and civil space projects. "Europe does not desire and does not see dominance of space as a goal, neither for itself, nor for any other State Member or Nation".
Is there someone that does not wish a world in peace?, working together to achieve a clean and sustainable develpment for all Humanity? Well, it seems that big corporations, weapons manufacturers and energy providers, dispose of interests at a world scale, that are not willing to let go. Is this not a humanitarian crime? Is this not a crime against Nature?
Is through the SPT-Space Preservation Treaty that we may embed the necessary piece of legislation to not just ban all space-based weapons over our heads, but to transform the war industry and the current defense systems in a whole new abanico of products and services, resulting in thousands of job oportunities through-out the world.
The SPT will establish an Outer Space Peace-Keeping Agency, under the UN, a new and unique International & Cooperative Agency working to maintain Peace in Space and Peace on Earth. The Outer Space Peace-Keeping Agency will monitor space, the atmosphere and the surface and will enforce the ban of all space-based weapons, as well as present a new path for the industrial and military complex, in its expansion in space. Expansion in space, without weapons and with the intention in creating new space markets, products and services for the new peacefull and cooperative scenario; in mid the new paradigm that imposes the presence of man in space.
