To:  Generalitat Valenciana (Valencian Community Government) ARCADYS is an animal defense entity located in Valencia (Spain) operating in the whole Comunidad Valenciana (Valencian Community)

We ask you to support our campaign to change the community local laws in order to forbid the indiscriminate killing of homeless dogs and cats in the shelters of our community, where thousands and thousands of dogs and cats are eliminated every year.

Despite all our efforts (see a summary of our activities below) it's still much cheaper for the local city and town councils to kill the exceeding animals in the shelters than to carry out the necessary measures that would in short-mid term eliminate the cause of the problem.

Therefore we have started a campaign to change the local laws to prohibit the indiscriminate killing of dogs and cats in the shelters, as we think this would be the only way to force the local governments to face the problem and adopt the necessary measures.

For the time being, we have collected 30.000 signatures and presented them to the local government of the Comunidad Valenciana - we are now trying to collect more signatures before the end of the year.

Besides the signatures we have started this support campaign in the web, so that people outside from Spain can also show their backup to our goals. Although these signatures don’t have a legal value in Spain they will surely have a great effect in the decision our government will take.

Thank you very much for your support!!
