Maestro Peter Bay has been Conductor of The Austin Symphony since 1998. A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Bay is a graduate of the University of Maryland and the Peabody Institute. In 1994, he was selected to participate in the Leonard Bernstein American Conductors Program. He was the first prize winner of the 1980 Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Young Conductors Competition and a prize winner of the 1987 Leopold Stokowski Competition. The Austin Symphony enhances the cultural quality of life for the people of the area by providing excellence in music performing. Never been to a symphony orchestra performance before? Stefan Meylaers is a brilliant classical composer who composed two pieces for tonight's show!  He is a member of The Belgian Composers Association. Stefan Meylaers is a concert pianist, accompanist & composer whose music is regularly performed in Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Austria, Russia, & the USA; including Carnegie Hall, & the United Nations. It is also performed in Canada, Brazil, Cuba, South-Africa as well as heard on Radio and TV. Stefan has won contests including he Hedgehog-prize & was the only selected Belgian pianist to work at the Opera Studio from the Royal Muntschouwburg in Brussels. Stefan's first & second cd; "Portrait of a Composer" & "Portrait of a Composer II" are part of the famous Flanders Fields series presented by the Belgian label Phaedra. His music entices its listeners to enter in the gates of pure mysticism!
