"Maples and elderberry are especially helpful at removing the effects of pollution. They are oxygenators. There are more. Water can be cleaned with bullrush, cattails, lotus, and it's either sweetflag or blueflag, one of them is good, the other is poisionous, so do the research first!" Some cherries, elderberries, and Maples can reduce Syanide in the soils. I've heard that a major problem with pollution is the syanide. Maples are excellent when planted close to water, as they will clean it and the soil all at the same time. Sago Palms are also good. It doesn't take long to do a search for plants to combat pollution, and it will help so many people in the long run. Please try it. Research the plants thoroughly so that you know how to handle them, plant them, etc... If they're poisonous to handle, find an alternative. There are plenty of them out there.
