The Petition link doesn't work in the second share, not sure about the first one either.

Sorry, you can either click on a 'tag' or the back button.

The 'Starving Artists' deserve to be paid for their work just like everyone else. It can take years to finish a Project, just to have it stolen?! I think not!!!

The question was posed to me that, 'What if I did 95% of the research on Cancer, someone stole my research and did 5%. They made millions and millions of lives were saved.' I say that even though it may appear that way, it's probably just one in a long list of Science gone wrong.

I was told that I was being selfish even though I contributed the 95% and wanted it back. The wrong information in the wrong hands can be Dangerous!

This was my answer!

The person who contributed 95% has the knowledge, skill, ambition, drive, and the brains to continue research in their area of expertise. If something goes wrong they can go back over their notes in an attempt to make things right. They know the sequences of events, reactions to their research, etc...

The person who stole the 95% is greedy and lazy. They cannot back up any of the stolen research. If or when complications arise they will have no way to 'right' their 'wrong.' This could cause great bodily harm to the consumers and contribute to future health risks such as low birth weight, stillborns, deformities, etc...

This could probably be one of the main causes of medicines that are already in our Marketplace that are already causing seizures, strokes, heart-attacks, etc... as well as the aforementioned maladies. At least thousands of people die every year from instances like these.

I do not believe that this practice of theft is helping with the 'Progress of Science', if anything it's a deterence. Anyone trying to fix what the theif did would come upon too many obstacles and roadblocks due to the lack of substancial information and faulty research. Trying to fix what was done could have grievious consequences as well.

The point is about having your work 'Stolen'.  Our Laws claim that we are 'Protected' from this. The 3-year Statute that is biased for the rich, and Large Corporations. This Statute does nothing to promote the 'Arts' or the 'Sciences.' With the Internet, theft becomes easier. I believe this Statute is wrong, and outdated. It should no longer exist. Copyright Law covers a vast area.
You are supposed to learn from the 'Masters', not steal from them.
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/264941759

I surely would not hire a Plumber to work on my Electricity, and that is the essence as I see it. If these Corporations find talent, they should hire them, not steal their work.

Here's an example that gone awry could really do harm.
A scientist discovered that you can add  acid to water?
Do you know what happens if you do this in reverse?

Disclaimer: don't try this at ALL!!!
If it's backwards, depending on the acid and respective strength, you could kill yourself doing it! I am Not an expert and could have this reversed myself, and I was told that I did originally.

The person contributing 5% is selfish, they are stymying the 'Progress of Science', and in many instances this can be dangerous! Take a look at these examples.

This seems to be an ongoing problem in the Science Community.

The point is about having your work 'Stolen' by someone that wants to make 'Big Bucks' regardless of the consequences. Our Laws claim that we are 'Protected' from this, yet they blocked our path for retributions with a 3-year Statute that is biased for the rich, and Large Corporations.  'Work for hire' has a longer protection than for the 'Individual' Writer, Artist, ect...

This Statute does nothing to promote the 'Arts' or the 'Sciences', it's a deterrent for the 'thinkers' that are afraid to put out any work for fear of theft. There are a lot more of them than you would think.

With the Internet, theft becomes easier. I believe this Statute is wrong, and outdated. It should no longer exist.

Copyright Law covers a vast area, not just the 'Authors' of  books. And my reasons for trying to change this law have greater meaning and significance to myself now, because of the implications that it has on the Science Community. Plagiarists only know enough to pass on what they took, they pass on the errors and misleading information in Science, as well as the correct 'work.'

Hi, to all of you that have encouraged me with this Petition, I thank  you. I am trying really hard to get this Petition signed.

It's important not only to me, but to all of the other Artists that have gotten ripped off in the past, and the one that don't yet know that they are going to be ripped off.

If we allow this law to remain unchanged there will more than likely be future victims.

Writers, Artists, etc... are vulnerable, especially now that they can post their 'works' on the net. Most of them do not believe that anyone would do such a thing as to rip them off.

The ones that I talked to that were ripped off still find it hard to believe that it happened to them. We are a trusting breed. Just look around at how many young writers are posting, should this be their future. An adult shouldn't have to deal with it.

Our 'works' are our livelihood. We spend months at a time, and sometimes years perfecting it. Why should we only have a 3-year umbrella?

That's time enough to hide evidence, or shred it. Because of the Internet, it can now be stolen and hidden anywhere in the World. It can be hidden long enough to take away our RIGHT to sue for Infringement.

Attorneys need time to collect and review evidence. They have to have 'Depositions' taken. They need time to serve subpoenas to witnesses and to subpoena records, etc... How can we expect to find Representation with the clock ticking so quickly?

We were led to believe that we had 70 years, not just three. Our children are supposed to be able to inherit our Royalties, as other's children inherit an Estate, Trust fund, or any other means that we have to care for our children after we're gone.

Three years is just simply not enough time, too many things can happen. Help to restore the Copyright Protections that we were promised in the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and the Laws pertaining to this right.

I want to plant trees and grass on the playgrounds in the poor areas of town, we only had sand to play in. I can't afford to.

I was dream of buying up blankets in the winter and distributing them, it gets cold here. Warm meals, I can't give them.

I want to start an Orchard, I already have the trees in buckets. I have no money to start this business. Trees and Nature are important to me.

I want to feel free to write, without the fear that it could be stolen and used without my knowledge, and with no fear on their part of repercussions.
Respectfully and sincerely, Darlene
