Please read the 'Full' Petition. There's a lot of information in it that you are probably not aware of. ["We, the Undersigned, endorse the following petition: Copyright - Get Rid of the 3-year Statute of Limitations Target: Congress "By placing the Limitation of 'Civil' litigation coming before 'Criminal' we are stating that it's okay to steal as long as we either don't get caught or the person owning the Copyright cannot for financial or other reasons file suit. So then, doesn't that in essence make Copyright theft Legal? The 'Crime' was still committed, but if you are not a large Corporation, then good luck trying to fight it. Why is there no 'Statute of Limitations' on Patents? These are mainly 'Corporate' owned. They are 'Ideas' and not completely 'tangible' as a finished work, such as a book, photograph, musical composition, etc... IP theft has been linked to Terrorism by our own Government. The Science community is in constant turmoil over 'Plagiarism.' Bad Science can lead to bad medicine, etc... My Petition has nothing at all to do with the 'Sonny Bono Act,' which should have Never passed through Congress. I have No problem with my 'Work' hitting the 'Public Domain' after myself and my children have had the opportunity to reap the rewards of My Hard Work.
