Recycle by making Newspapers into biodegradable pots for your seedlings.

This is messy, but fun. Strip newspapers and make paste from flour and water.

First put a few layers of plain wet strips around the plastic container you are using for the mold. Don't paste these. Then start at the bottom of the container and work your way to the sides with a thin layer of paste. Build it up really good, and let it dry.

Poke small holes in the bottom and side, a voila' you've got yourself a pot for seedlings. Just do not over water until you have planted the seedling in the ground.

I made a fancy one on accident.

Homemade Pot

Make your own dirt.

Don't throw away those leaves in the fall.

Toss them in a black bag and fill them with water. Shredded leaves compost quicker. Best place to leave them is a sunny location, but not necessary.

Wait anywhere from 2 - 4 days. Make sure all of the leaves are soaked.

Poke tiny holes in the bottom to let the water slowly drain.

Check on them the following Spring. If they're dry, add water, but you may already have fresh, black, dirt that is full of nutrients for your plants.

Some leaves make dirt quicker than others.

Happy gardening!
