Name: Norman
Type: Memorial (for the deceased)
To Honor: Pet(s)
Location: , United States
Today I had to put my best friend and companion Norm down; he was 14 yrs old and I guess a misfit from the start.
A person bred a black lab to sell the puppies, when they were born the litter had 11 pups, but 2 were not Lab they looked like German Shepard's, the neighbor beside these people had a pedigree German Shepard.
The humans decided the 2 Shepard's were "not sellable" and did nothing to care for them, no shots no worming and even moved the 2 "misfits" from the mamas tit till all the sellable pups were full.  I rescued Norm and 4 days after I got him he developed maternal parvo because the humans removing him from the breast milk stopped him for getting protection from his mother.
I was faced with a decision and because of life's circumstance I was very poor that that point and could not immediately pay a large bill, the vet said he would accept 10$ a month because I was such a good customer for 30 years and he knew I would pay the bill.  After a week in hospital my little buddy came home very sick but alive and on the road to recovery.  That started a 14 year companionship of love.
Over the next few years I was given a diagnosis for a condition that has no cure, I was going to loose the use of my hands, arms and legs I would end up as I am today in braces with artificial joints and bones.  Before this happened Norm was trained as an assistance/service dog by trainers from K-9 cops, Military and myself, he was a quick learner.
Norm was so good at what he did when I started having deep muscle breakdown from my illness Norm was trained to sniff out the area before it became a serious problem, I have had 9 surgeries on my legs or feet totally because a dog sniffed, sat and alerted something was wrong.  The first time the orthopedic surgeon said he was very uncomfortable doing deep muscle surgery based on a dogs opinion, but with my instance he did the first exploratory surgery and Norm was right.
Fact is Norm was always right.
For the next 14 years as I got worse and was often recovering from surgery Norm was my hands and helper.  He could get the phone, open the door, pick-up bandages and put them in the trash, pick up my medicine bottles; but the most important thing he did was give me life.
I write this for all to read because we often forget what an animal can do for a human and what a human can do for an animal, I saved Norm from Parvo and he saved me back.
There are no words to express my grief and loss.
I think what Norm disserved was life, but what he would want all to know is he had a very good life, he had a job and as much love as any person and dog can share and a friend who when it came down to it put Norm above all else.
Remember Norm when you think about getting an animal, you never know what the little sickly rescued pup will turn out to be.
Give them love and share your life and in the end there will be much pain and sadness, but there is also the story, like Norms story full of richness and life because of a simple act of rescue.
If you choose please note this story, just for Norm and all those alone humans and animals whose life can be so changed when they are just put together.
I Love you Norm, I always will.

As most of my friends know I am very opposed to groups like the ALF, SHAC and any who believe they have the right to violent action to produce change in animal used in research.

I firmly believe in legal change, understand research but I also belive in human rights.  This case is the appeal from the SHAC conviction, they lost.

I would greatly appreciate any help getting this story to front page news because people need to understand that threats, harassment and fire bombs are not the way.  SHAC has recently burned down Novatris CEO's home, robbed graves and sent AIDS tainted blood (or they claim) to employees doing legal research.

Please if you agree that violence is not helping animal rights note this news:

From the ruling:

'Defendants Darius Fullmer, Andrew Stepanian, Kevin Kjonaas, Joshua Harper, Lauren Gazzola, Jacob Conroy, and Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty ( “SHAC” ) collectively challenge their convictions for conspiracy to violate the Animal Enterprise Protection Act ( “AEPA” ), 18 U.S.C. § 43 (2002). Notably, our interpretation of this statute is an issue of first impression in this, or any, circuit court of appeal.

SHAC, Kjonaas, Gazzola, and Conroy also challenge their convictions for conspiracy to commit interstate stalking, as well as three substantive counts of stalking. Finally, SHAC, Kjonaas, Gazzola, Conroy, and Harper challenge their convictions for conspiracy to use a telecommunications device to abuse, threaten, and harass.

The overarching issues in this appeal are whether the AEPA violates the First Amendment, whether there was sufficient evidence to convict Defendants of the various charges against them, and challenges to the jury instructions. Because we find that the AEPA is neither unconstitutional on its face, nor unconstitutional as applied to SHAC, Kjonaas, Gazzola, Conroy, Stepanian, Harper and Fullmer, we will affirm their convictions for conspiracy to violate the AEPA. In addition, we find that there was sufficient evidence to convict Defendants on all charges involving interstate stalking. Finally, we find no flaw in the jury instructions, and we will therefore affirm the Judgment of the District Court in all other respects.

Presented to you from the mind of a troll.....

Please play the song and sing along

all the threads were closed
and the sigh is grey
I've been tryin to post
a few words today
I'd be safe and free
but the hosts got in the way
constipated screaming
its censorships way
Stopped into a birth
I passed along the way
well I got down on my knees
yelling freedoms the way
You know the host he likes control
They think I'm gonna say
Constipated screaming
when they took my words away
all the posts are closed
and the sigh is grey
I've been trying to post
on a thread today
If I didn't tell them
could I breath today?
constipated screaming
on such a censored day
constipated screaming
on such a censored day
constipated screaming
on such censored day
constipated screaming
on such a censored day
constipated screaming

Its has come to the realization of many that PeTA will exploit about anything, religion, manipulation of truth, inventing PCRM and they never miss a beat.

We saw "Holocaust on Your Plate" to offend the Jewish Community, Jesus carrying a cross wearing a Pig Head for the Christians, a black man hanging in a photo in a racial murder (lynching) to an already dead cow being prepared for slaughter in "Animal Liberation".  They made "milk Stealing Ming" and "Diabetic Diane" to depict an Asian child attempting to get milk from a cow and Dianne is a child using insulin IV to deal with Juvenile Diabetes PeTA/PCRM implies is caused by milk.

Type I Diabetes is not caused from milk; but lets not digress.  They used Mayor Giuliani to ask "Got Prostrate Cancer" and David Duke the leader of the KKK with a statement "the whit stuff ain't the right stuff" as some way to compare racism to lactose intolerance.  Maybe you had to work for PeTA to get that one but I tend to imagine they don't even know.

PeTA in all it's vast wisdom, before Mr. Jackson is buried, before any care has been made for his children, before a public funeral of mourning....well they want a piece of the money pie.....err excuse me they want it for the animals.

PeTA has asked the Jackson family in writing for the rights to the song "Ben" so they can stop "animal research that uses rats".

Oddly they did not ask Mr. Jackson an animal lover, before he died.

PeTA does anyone not see what they are?

Give to your local shelter!

I have not sent out a plea to get a story noted that I have posted in years in a share but have in threads, it is unacceptable for any civilized Government to sponsor, inspect, and license a substandard facility and should not be allowed to fall through the cracks. There are 200,000 children in the care of Mexico's government sponsored day care, the facility the death occurred in was inspected 2 weeks prior to the fire that has killed 44 children so far.
Information is being released about the tragic deaths at the facility in Mexico, there was much wrong that is explained in the news post, but something that is so obvious and is criminal in any country in the world regarding child care is a child's right to have space to move.
The day care center had a total floor space of 1,612 sq feet, there were 142 children.  The size of a small home.
Just so folks understand how bad this is, generally 30 to 35 sq feet of space not covered by beds, tables or furniture (inside) for each child for healthy safe child care.  This means at a bare minimum there should have been 4260 sq feet of open floor space inside just for the little one not including adult staff.
These poor kids had 11.35 sq feet each in total, including beds, tables chairs and anything else in the facility. I doubt you could see much floor due to mattresses, prisoners get more space as do dogs in kennels.  We would be up in arms if we found someone with 142 dogs in their home, much less being paid to have them there.
Please don't let the deaths be in vain, keep the story front page and force accountability....for the kids who have been exploited by private contract and Government turning a blind eye.
Please spend 15 seconds click the link and note the story

I happen to like the story as it origins are deep rooted in mountain culture, it is a story of a natural event.
The story goes that when Jesus was awaiting crucifixion and when the crosses were being made the trees begged God to spare them, but the Dogwood begged not for it's life but for the life of Jesus.
The Roman soldiers picked the Dogwood.
The Dogwood pleaded with God to use another wood but God did not intervene.  The Dogwood would now carry the body of Christ to his death and the Dogwood knew that for all eternity Dogwoods would be known for this horror.
God in his wisdom spoke to the Dogwood and understood the tree; in that time Dogwoods were tall straight trees that provided sturdy timber for homes and vessels, safety for the animals. bowls for food, utensils to cook with; and God spoke.
God told the Dogwood that the burden that was carried would be carried only one time, and from that time on Dogwoods would be knarly small trees with poor timber size so not Dogwood could be used in this manner again, God told the Dogwood that the Dogwoods would now be responsible for eternity to help people remember.
The Dogwood would only bloom for a very short time before and after the date of the crucifixion, the flower would have just 4 petals representing the hands and feet of Christ, they would be marked with a hole and the blood of Christ and the center of the flower would be circular raised and represent the head of Christ wearing the crown of thorns.
And so it is today, the Dogwood is a small twisted tree, it blooms at Easter and the flower....well look for yourself.

Germany’s highest constitutional court ruled that an animal-rights campaign comparing the slaughter of animals for consumption with the murder of Jews by the Nazis is forbidden by law because it offends Holocaust survivors.

The Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe today upheld a lower-court ruling that sidelined the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals campaign, entitled “The Holocaust on your plate.” PETA in March 2004 had presented a picture of animals being prepared for slaughter next to victims of a Nazi-era concentration camp.

Two officials from the Central Council of Jews in Germany, both Holocaust survivors, filed a successful lawsuit to have the PETA campaign stopped, the court said. PETA’s spokesman in Germany, Harald Ullmann, said the group is considering whether to appeal the decision at the European Court of Human Rights.

The animal-rights campaign represents “a minimization and banalization of the plight of Holocaust survivors,” the court said in a statement. Denying the Holocaust is a crime in Germany.

Yet while the high court upheld the previous ruling, it dismissed the lower court’s reasoning that the PETA campaign impinged on the plaintiffs’ “human dignity.” Such a judgment would have to balance the rights of the accusers against the freedom of expression of groups such as PETA.

Instead, the lower court was justified in halting the animal-rights campaign because the “Holocaust on your plate” posters constituted a “grave personal offense” in the same legal sense as denying Nazi crimes against Jews is a crime, the high court ruled.
