I for one am getting so sick of hearing from people who want President Bush to pull our troops out of Iraq right now and bring our troops home. It only shows me how many people right here on Care2 who have forgotten September 11, 2001 and the lives lost that day. Also that they are a one track mind person who thinks of only one thing. So they are thinking that because no weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, that we should now leave. There are many reasons why we went into Iraq folks, not just one, the weapons of mass destriction. We went there to help fight the terrorist groups who were there killing millions of Iraqi citizens just because they felt like it, and these people did not agree with them and their wishes. So now why are so many Americans on the side of the terrorist and want our troops to come home and not help out fighting against these terrorist groups. Why not put yourself in the position of the Iraqi citizens. Pretend you are a Iraqi citizens living in Iraq. Now how would you feel when you heard that the citizens of the USA are demanding that their country not only impeach their President because he sent troops to help them out, and that you want those same troops to be pulled out of your country and not help protect you any longer. I am sure you would not feel very good. I can tell you that if we pull our troops out now, we will have only shown that we never complete a job that we start, and that we could care less about this planet we live on, all we care about is our own country. Why do you think we have so many illegal immagrants in this country? Because these people know that the USA is the best country to live in for protection. We have the best Military there is. We must stop caring just about our country, and caring about this planet we live on. This planet is not going to survive with just our country being the only place humans can live. So we must help protect the entire planet. We have to do whatever we can to put the terrorist groups out of business once and for all and bring peace back to this planet, and we are not about to do that sitting here in the USA on our dead butts and expect these other countries to take care of it on their own. We must give each and every person a helping hand. Just as we all need to give our own neighbors a helping hand every now and then. Get your minds off of the one topic of weapons of mass destruction, and get it on the full reason why our troops are in Iraq right now. Stop listening to the media for all your information, because it is their job to only show you the bad things that are happening, they do not now, nor have they ever spent a full newcast showing you the good things that are happening in our world. This goes for Iraq as well. They do not show you the good things we are doing in Iraq, only the bad, and believe me, there are more good things we are doing there then bad.
As far as the numbers of troops being killed or injuried, in this same time frame, we have not even yet come close to the loss of 1 percent of those we lost in Vietnam in the same time period, and for the injured, we are only at about 15 percent compaired to Vietnam. This only goes to show you how much better our military has gotten, and the equipment that has improved over the years to help protect them.
Lets all help to keep our troops safe, and hope that some day they can come home once and for all and another President down the road will not have to call on our troops to go back in to Iraq because we left before our mission was complete. Not in just war, but in everything in life, things will always get worse before they get better, and believe me, they will get better. But we can not expect this war against terrorism to be completed over night. Just not going to happen, but it can be won, and it must be won. We must not show the world once again that the USA and its citizens are quitters, and that we quit any mission just because we have had losses, and it appears that our mission can not be won from the media side of things. This is just another one of those reasons why I think our country made a grave error when they allowed our media to go with them into Iraq at a time of war. Our congress needs to pass a law that will forbid our media from going anywhere within 3,000 miles of any place we are at war in, not only to protect them, but so that we can complete our missions without having to worry about people who are only going to show you the bad side of the story and not the good.
I would hope that NBC would send their people to Iraq to interview Iraqi citizens, and show it to the American public, for you will see that over 80 percent of Iraqi citizens are very glad that we are there and they do not want us to leave yet, for they know they will go right back to the way things were within a month after we leave at this point. We must show that we are not quitters, but fighters and that we will not leave until our mission has been completed this time. Lets show that we care about this planet we live on and we all want peace on this planet.
I get so many messages each day about going to many different sites to sign petitions to get our government of USA to not send more troops to Iraq, and to pull the troops that are there now out of there and bring them home.
Well, here is where I stand on this issue. I can not sign these petition for I feel they are so wrong. I think it is very important that we always complete the mission we start and not leave in the middle of it. We did that about 8 years ago in Iraq and look where it got us. We had to go back in once again, and now we are once again asking that we leave again before the mission is complete. What will this do, it will make another President down the road have to send troops back in once again. And it will keep going like this until we allow our troops to stay the course and finish the mission that has been put before them. I am very sad that we have not done so already. Just goes to show that new people in charge over there are needed for the ones there now have proven they can not do the job. But I know a lot of people feel we need to get out and bring our troops home because of all those who have been killed in the line of duty in Iraq. Well, if we put our loss to the loss of Iraq citizens, we have not even loss a full 1 percent of people yet comparied to the loss of Iraqi citizens lives. And not even a full 1 percent of troops that we lost during the Vietman war.
Now I think another thing we must think about is to reverse this situation. What if this war was being fought right here on US soil. Now other countries have sent their troops over to the US to help us out. How would we feel if the war was not yet being won, and these countries people were asking their government to pull their troops out and let us fight this battle on our own. I bet you would not feel very good about them, that is for sure. So why should we be any different. We need to help bring peace back to this world at all cost.
I believe that the amount of troops that President Bush has asked for needs to be tripled, and then send the amount he wants to Iraq to Iraq and send the others to the other countries that are dealing with the same problem with terrorist groups and lets help find and end all the terriorist groups so that we can find peace in this world once and for all. Lets not do this one country at a time, but one world at a time.
And lets help honor those who have been killed in action, by not saying its our governments fault they are dead because we forced them to go to Iraq. I have not yet heard of one single case where any man or woman have been held at gun point to go to a recruitment office to sign up for military duty. And when they sign up for military duty, they know that being sent to war is always possible. And they do this to honor their country. We should be honoring them for their service, not putting them down, just like Cindy Sheehan is doing, by putting her own son down for losing his life.
Lets hope we can win this war on terriorism before another 9/11 happens right here in the USA again. And please don't forget those we lost on 9/11 and put their memory down by telling them we don't want to do anything about their loss of life.
I personally wish to thank anyone who has served our country at any time and for putting their lives on the line to protect my freedom and my rights. May God bless each one of you, and may anyone you know that is serving their country right now come home safely.

To whom it all concerns:
Just a word to the wise.
E-mail petitions are NOT acceptable to Congress or any other municipality.
To be acceptable petitions must have a signed signature and full address.
Almost all e-mails that ask you to add your name and forward on to others are similar to that mass letter years ago that asked people to send business cards to the little kid in Florida who wanted to break the Guinness Book of Records for the most cards. All it was, and all this type of e-mail is, is to get names and "cookie" tracking info for telemarketers and spammers to validate active e-mail accounts for their own purposes.
Any time you see an e-mail that says forward this on to "10" of your friends, sign this petition, or you'll get good luck, or whatever, it has either an e-mail tracker program attached that tracks the cookies and e-mails of those folks you forward to, or the host sender is getting a copy each time it gets forwarded and then is able to get lists of "active" e-mails to use in spam e-mails, or sell to others that do.
Please forward this notice to others and you will be providing a good service to your friends, and will be rewarded by not getting 30,000 spam e-mails in the future.
(If you have been sending o ut the above kinds of email, now you know why you get so much spam!)

As you may remember, this past June we were working with our US congressmen and senators to get them to change and get rid of the 24 month waiting period for getting Medicare. Way to many people who are disabled, and low income who qualify for Medicare, are having their illness getting much worse, and yet still many are dying while waiting on the 24 month waiting period. As of today, nothing still has been done about this. So I am asking, and reminding everyone, that after the November elections, if you have a new senator and or a new congressmen, please write to your new senator and congressmen, and or the current ones that will be re-elected and let them know that we want action taken on this to put a end to this 24 month waiting period once and for all. We must help save those lives that are being lost while waiting for their 24 months to go by before they can get Medicare to get the proper medical care they need.
I am asking for prayers once again for my dear friend and care2 member, Dreama Runyon. She has just been diagnosised with a unoperatable blood clot in her brain. Please pray for God to heal here and to keep her as comfortable as possible. She could have another major stroke at any time which could be very fatal this time around, and even though she says she is ready to go home to our lord, I ask that we pray that she has angels around here and keep her comfortable and out of to much pain. She is a very specail and dear friend and I wish I could do more for her, but I know she appreciate it just to have all of our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you everyone in advance for all your prayers for Dreama.
Update as of 03-03-2007, Dreama is still having a lot of health problem and I ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers daily. She has done so much for all of us, and this is the least we can do for her in return. My prayers are with you Dreama.
One year ago, Senator Jeff Bingaman, Democrat of New Mexico, and 17 colleagues from both parties introduced legislation to eliminate the 24-month period a person who is eligible for Medicare because of a disability must wait out before Medicare coverage starts.
It is a two-year prison sentence for many. Men and women with disabilities struggle to survive while they wait for their Medicare coverage to start. For some, it is a death sentence.
During this last year, Congress has passed $70 billion in tax cuts that benefit the richest 1 percent of taxpayers while slashing $39 billion from Medicaid, the health insurance program for poor Americans.
What action have our elected representatives taken on the 24-month waiting period?
Not one vote. Not one hearing. Not one thing.
The 24-month waiting period is an aberration in a Medicare program that represents a triumph of American compassion and common sense—a decision that society would guarantee health care for older adults and people with disabilities.
Here is how it works. Individuals under 65 who have paid into the system and are deemed by the Social Security Administration to have a severe and permanent disability receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) after a five-month waiting period.
But once the first SSDI monthly check arrives, there is a new 24-month wait for Medicare coverage to begin.
While they wait they suffer: some go without critical health care while others go into insurmountable debt to pay for it. Some rely on charitable care.
In 2002, there were an estimated 1.2 million people with disabilities in this two-year waiting period. About one-third of these people—400,000 individuals—were likely without health insurance.
Every one of those people has a story that makes a powerful case for eliminating the waiting period. Here is one:
Stan White lived in South Carolina with his wife and two kids. He worked in the textile industry until January 2002, when he had a stroke that partially paralyzed his right side. Forced to stop working, he purchased COBRA, which allowed him to continue the coverage he had under his company's health plan, but at a very high monthly premium. Soon after, he began to have speech problems. He had a seizure that April and was later diagnosed with a malignant tumor. In July, Stan began to receive Social Security Disability Income. Stan was able to participate in a hospital-based clinical trial that involved a new experimental drug, which successfully attacked the tumor. COBRA paid 80 percent of the cost and Stan was able to afford the rest.
Stan was cancer-free the following year, but the factory where he had worked went out of business and his COBRA coverage ended. Uninsured and still waiting for Medicare, Stan's tumor returned in February of 2004. By this time, Stan's savings account had been drained by high COBRA premiums and health expenses. Eventually, thanks to relentless advocacy by his sister and because he fit the protocol for a clinical trial, he was admitted to the hospital. Looking back, his sister wishes that they could have afforded a different treatment, but their only choice was the experimental procedure he received as part of the trial. The experimental treatment was not successful. Stan finally received Medicare in July 2004, in time to receive hospice care. He died in September 2004.
The proportion of people in the waiting period who have no health insurance is likely higher today, because health insurance is less accessible and less affordable than it was four years ago. States have tightened up Medicaid eligibility, curtailing access to health benefits for the poor. Employer-sponsored health coverage has been steadily eroding and monthly premiums have been rising steeply. This means the COBRA program, which allows former employees to pay to keep the coverage they had under their last job, is either inaccessible or unaffordable to people forced to leave their job after being struck with a disability.
While they are waiting for Medicare coverage, people without health insurance go without necessary medical care and skip taking vital medicines. If they survive, they wind up sicker and more expensive to care for when Medicare coverage does begin. About 4 percent of people in the waiting period die every year.
I am asking that everyone please pray for a wonderful member of Care2. Dreama Runyon. She is a wonderful and sweet person who fights hard for the rights of the disabled. She has had another major stroke and is currently in a coma. She needs as many prayers that we can get for her in hopes that she will get better and come back to us all. If God does choose to bring her home to Heaven, we will have another angel watching over us with golden wings, but lets pray as hard as we can that this is not her time yet, and she will fight this and get better so she can return to Care2, and to helping and supporting everyone, not just the disabled.
God bless you Dreama, and bless all of you for your prayers.
New as of 07-06-06, Dreama is having more problems once again and I ask for us to please pray more for our beloved and wonderful friend as she would for any of us. She may have another blod clot in her head and is 75% chance of having another major stroke, Please pray for healing.
I am asking that you all please look at my share about writing to Michael Moore and telling him about your medical horror stories about your health insurance and treatment I know a lot of people don't like Michael Moore from some of the other documentarys he has done, even I didn't like some of them for I don't believe some of what he has said is true, but this time, he wants to write a book and maybe do a film to show how we, the American Citizen who is disabled have had to go through horror to get proper insurance coverages to take care of our medical needs. So please, I ask that you please write your worse true horror stories to him and to the Medicare Right Center, for in the end, this might help get us the health insurance we should have so that we can stay as healthy as possible.
How would you like to be in my next movie? I know you've probably heard I'm making a documentary about the health care industry (but the HMOs don't know this, so don't tell them — they think I'm making a romantic comedy).
If you've followed my work over the years, you know that I keep a pretty low profile while I'm making my movies. I don't give interviews, I don't go on TV and I don't defrost my refrigerator. I do keep my website updated on a daily basis (there's been something like 4,000,000 visitors just this week alone) and the rest of the time I'm... well, I can't tell you what I'm doing, but you can pretty much guess. It gets harder and harder sneaking into corporate headquarters, but I've found that just dying my hair black and wearing a skort really helps.
Back to my invitation to be in my movie. Have you ever found yourself getting ready to file for bankruptcy because you can't pay your kid's hospital bill, and then you say to yourself, "Boy, I sure would like to be in Michael Moore's health care movie!"?
Or, after being turned down for the third time by your HMO for an operation they should be paying for, do you ever think to yourself, "Now THIS travesty should be in that 'Sicko' movie!"?
Or maybe you've just been told that your father is going to have to just, well, die because he can't afford the drugs he needs to get better – and it's then that you say, "Damn, what did I do with Michael Moore's home number?!"
Ok, here's your chance. As you can imagine, we've got the goods on these bastards. All we need now is to put a few of you in the movie and let the world see what the greatest country ever in the history of the universe does to its own people, simply because they have the misfortune of getting sick. Because getting sick, unless you are rich, is a crime – a crime for which you must pay, sometimes with your own life.
About four hundred years from now, historians will look back at us like we were some sort of barbarians, but for now we're just the laughing stock of the Western world.
So, if you'd like me to know what you've been through with your insurance company, or what it's been like to have no insurance at all, or how the hospitals and doctors wouldn't treat you (or if they did, how they sent you into poverty trying to pay their crazy bills) ...if you have been abused in any way by this sick, greedy, grubby system and it has caused you or your loved ones great sorrow and pain, let me know.
Send me a short, factual account of what has happened to you – and what IS happening to you right now if you have been unable to get the health care you need. Send it to michael@michaelmoore.com. I will read every single one of them (even if I can't respond to or help everyone, I will be able to bring to light a few of your stories).
Thank you in advance for sharing them with me and trusting me to try and do something about a very corrupt system that simply has to go.
Oh, and if you happen to work for an HMO or a pharmaceutical company or a profit-making hospital and you have simply seen too much abuse of your fellow human beings and can't take it any longer – and you would like the truth to be told – please write me at michael@michaelmoore.com. I will protect your privacy and I will tell the world what you are unable to tell. I am looking for a few heroes with a conscience. I know you are out there.
Thank you, all of you, for your help and your continued support through the years. I promise you that with "Sicko" we will do our best to give you not only a great movie, but a chance to bring down this evil empire, once and for all.
In the meantime, stay well. I hear fruits and vegetables help.
