A Few Thoughts

in a little more than a month, I shall celebrate my 65th birthday. I'm a little nervous about it because rightly or wrongly I still feel like an adolescent and often act like it too. Nevertheless, my time is passing swiftly and I would like to share a few thoughts. I love this planet and am grieved & outraged that it is being despoiled by a ravening pack of wolves who belong to the ranks of leaders, politicians and the corporate hierarchy. The extent to which they have lied to us, mislead us, and taken advantage of us boggles the mind! The sad fact that so many of us seem content with our electronic & mechanical toys, our SUVs, cheap food, Wallmart shopping excursions, and lack of real involvement in the world around us is another source of grief. I do believe that most people are good, but perhaps feel helpless to address the numerous wrongs in the world. Currently I am distracting myself from the human condition by planting spring bulbs in neighbourhood gardens, reading science fiction and historical books, and struggling to become a better Baha'i. I am also nursing arthritic hands, and a bruised hip & thigh. Perhaps that's why I feel a bit down. Nevertheless, I care deeply for all you souls who really wish we could leave the earth in a slightly better condition than we found it. You could all be heroes, writing letters, signing petitions, sharing news items with our little community. In fact, I think you are. One last request, please could you make free donations on the Care2 list. I think it is very important that we show a united front when it comes to the rainforest, the seals, the wales & dolphins and our pets. Thank you for listening.
