Hi Friends,

As you may know, President Obama's administration is currently supporting a proposal to the International Whaling Commission that would legalize commercial whaling for the first time since 1986. We can't let this happen and we need your help!

On June 3rd, we'll deliver thousands of your photos and messages to the President and other White House officials. You can take part and have your photo among those delivered by submitting a photo to Save the Whales!

We're looking for fun, creative, and powerful photos with a human touch to them. And the more people in your photos, the stronger the message to the President will be that lots of us care about the future of the whales! Please submit your photos by Weds, May 26th.

Download the photo submission toolkit right now for some great ideas and submission guidelines.

Save the Whales photos

We've already got some great photo submissions for you to check out and get inspired by:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/save_the_whales

We'll also display your photo on a special Flickr account we've made, and if you'd like, you can enter it in our photo contest. Download the photo submission toolkit to read more about the contest.

You don't have to enter the contest to submit a photo -- we want everyone who cares about the future of the whales to take part in this powerful action to show the President our opposition to commercial whaling.

Help us Save the Whales, again! Submit a photo today!

For the Whales!

The fate of the whales hangs in balance. Greenpeace has just dispatched our largest and fastest ship, the Esperanza, to the Antarctic Southern Ocean to stop the Japanese whale hunt. Right now the Japanese fleet are hunting more than 1,000 whales, including 50 endangered fin whales.

We are prepared to put ourselves between the harpoon and the whale to stop the hunt from achieving its quota. As with all of our protests, we will do this peacefully and safely. But we need YOUR help – and with the Facebook Giving Challenge, NOW is the best time.

It costs $247,000 a month to keep the Esperanza and her crew opposing the Japanese whaling fleet. With your support of just $10, we can win $50,000 to keep our ship on the seas this hunting season, and wage our campaign to stop commercial whaling once and for all.

HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:

1) Join the cause.

2) Donate $10.
If you want to give more, please consider spacing it out over several days, as there are daily awards of $1000 for the Cause with the most people donating per day. (The minimum donation is $10).

3) Tell all your friends!
* Click on “invite” in the menu on the right. Select all your friends. Use the “add a personal message” option when you send invites to personalize your appeal to help stop the whale hunt.

* Use Facebook’s “Share” feature on this page to share a link to our Cause with others in your network. Include a message for them to join and donate.

* If you have a Facebook Group, post an announcement on your Discussion Board with a link to this Cause and info about the Giving Challenge Contest.

With your support, Greenpeace can continue to fund this effort and bring whaling to an end.

The Facebook Cause Giving Challenge ends on February 1. Please donate, and help spread the word today!
