Even as horrific as last Monday's events were, it is important to keep a proper Historical perspective on events or information can be manipulated. JMO

Quote from site: "With all due respect and sympathy to the victims and their families of the Columbine and McDonald's shootings, the Oklahoma bombing, and other mass murders, they were not the worst mass murders of children in the US. On May 18, 1927, 45 people, mostly children, were killed and 58 were injured when disgruntled and demented school board member Andrew Kehoe dynamited the new school building in Bath, Michigan out of revenge over his foreclosed farm due in part to the taxes required to pay for the new school..."

I shared this article with friends and family and almost universally the answer was that they knew it is a problem but "It is just the growing pains of entering a global economy, the price we have to pay to be global."

Why are people so willing to accept this kind of danger to themselves and those they love?

It is making me sick the way they are using the grief of those people at Virginia Tech to increase news ratings and to further certain political causes. The blood was not even dry and the news had graphics and special music just like it was the movie event of the week, capitalizing on photos of people in their most vulnerable moments. Please people, try to have some respect and let the grieving bury their dead before you blow this issue into your next soap box for ratings and politics. What is wrong with this nation? Doesn't anyone have any sense of decency anymore?
