I sent a copy of this to every US Senator via email...maybe some of them will wake up and listen to at least some of these points...

I am not sure that the NSA spying on millions of Americans suspected of no terrorist connections or wrongdoing falls under the topic of Homeland Security; I am sure, however, that that is what this deceitful and near-fascist administration calls it.

However, it is completely unacceptable that the NSA is monitoring the phone records (and most likely more than that) of America's everyday, ordinary citizens. It is NOT OK that this lawbreaking, ignorant president nominates the person responsible for this unwarranted intrusion to head the CIA.

Furthermore, it is appalling that this president feels that there are 750 laws that he can break or ignore because they don't fit "his conception" of the Constitution.

Senator, we - and believe me I speak for many who may never contact their congress people - are sick and tired of being spied on, lied to and ripped off by this current administration. We do not perceive that either the Senate or the House is working for us - the financially-overburdened middle- and working-class Americans who put you all into office.

In addition to this government spying without warrants on its own people, the list of wrongdoings and proposed terrible ideas that is out there right now is depressing.

1) - Uncontrolled immigration and borders, as well as meddling from the Mexican government into our business - AND the so-called "guest worker" program; the majority of the citizens of the US DO NOT WANT this legislation approved. We DO NOT WANT our jobs and salary base further corrupted by the presence of people who will work for a non-living wage. Nor do we wish to continue to support the health, welfare and education of these illegal aliens, whose abuse of the social services systems in this country is causing hospitals to close, schools to be underfunded and overcrowded and precious dollars that should be spent on needy American citizens instead diverted to the upkeep of foreign nationals;

2) - The mess in Iraq; an immoral war planned long before its bloody execution, based on lies, omissions distortions and hubris; we have learned nothing from Vietnam, obviously; the one difference is that we will be in Iraq permanently - we know there are permanent bases built or being built - to guard Iraqi oil fields and continue enriching Halliburton and other warmongering profiteers;

3) - As a corollary to the above, we want the truth about 9/11; very few people now believe the party line about what happened and why; most of know there was governmental collusion to make this possible. I thought Kent State was the low point of governmental killing of its own citizens until the unconscionable tragedy of 9/11.

4) - The piecemeal auctioning of our country to foreign governments and investors - airlines, ports, military materiel manufacturing facilities; the outsourcing of jobs; the deal to send nuclear materials and expertise in this area to India. How long before there is no America? How long before we wake up one day to find that we no long have ownership of and live in the country so many of us were taught to respect and revere?

5) - The abysmal culture of corruption that has created a stench emanating from Washington, DC to the entire nation and beyond; yes, sophisticated thinkers understand the inner workings of politics, but the abuses by this administration and certain members of Congress have gone beyond unbelievable.

6) - The lack of government support for environmentally-friendly and home-grown alternative fuels; the deceit of telling us that we shouldn't be addicted to oil but yet not encouraging automakers to provide us with accessible, affordable vehicles that can run on ethanol. Brazil does it - why can't we? Detroit makes the cars Brazilians drive and fill up with the ethanol they produce themselves.

7) - As a corollary to the above, the ignorance of a president who pooh-poohs the reality of global warming and allows - nay, encourages - the destruction of the earth's ecological resources and balance for profit by the few.

It's an election year. Be sure the people are watching the votes on the issues in Washington. Be sure that the vast majority of Americans want to sweep the dirt and debris out of Washington. Be sure that this November we will turn out in record numbers to vote for those who will work for American citizens, not the corporations whose greed for profit and control is destroying every vestige of the American dream as we watch.
