Stolen Yorkies

Date: 2009-10-12, 5:40PM EDT
Reply to: comm-7hhvr-1418463088@craigslist.org

I was robbed on Friday 10/09/2009 in Belle Glade. Both of my girl Yorkie dogs were stolen. They are 4 & 9 years old and both weight less than 5 lbs each. Teaspoon the older and larger is very shy. She had some medical problems and should never have puppies. Taffy the smaller is very nervous and scared. She has been fixed and chipped. I am offering a $500.00 reward for their safe return. If you have recently been sold, given or bought a Yorkie please bring them to a vet to be scanned. We miss them so much. They are like our children. Please help me find them. You can call me at 561-261-0483 if you have any information. If you are scared you can even bring them to a local vet or shelter. They will scan the chips there also. Please be safe, secure your homes & God bless you.

On Sep. 21st, two men broke into my home located in the residential area around SW 147th Ave just south of SW 8th St. A neighbor's exterior camera system captured the car's make and model but no tag. ('94-'98 White 4-Door Mitsubishi Galant with dark tints). The two men (probably in their early 20s, both Black American, one with a shaved head and the other was wearing a bandana) ended up taking a TV (VIZIO 52''), a couple of watches, and a Canon digital camera. The unforgivable part is that my dog was also taken or allowed to run out of the house. We are offering a reward for information leading to the safe return of our beloved friend. He is about 4lbs, golden colored head with black body. He had a collar with our contact information. Please contact me if you have seen him, if your neighbor has recently found a dog, or if you purchased a yorkie from someone other than a legitimate puppy store/vendor. REWARD, NO QUESTIONS ASKED TO THE PERSON WHO FINDS HIM.THANK YOU!!!! Please call 954-554-2229 or 786-236-0716.

Dead dogs- many of them family pets-litter the streets of Hanzhong City. Help us stop this brutal slaughter!; International Fund for Animal Welfare

You can help us end bloodbaths like this and protect dogs in China from future culls

A death squad pursues a terrified dog.

Photo: Dog cull in Hanzhong

Please help stop the slaughter.

Dear [[First Name]],

A massive cull in the Chinese city of Hanzhong has claimed the lives of more than 30,000 dogs - and now we need your help to make sure that it never happens again.

The local government ordered the mass slaughter of all dogs as the result of a few cases of rabies deaths. Dog killing squads are stalking the streets, mercilessly beating dogs to death with sticks and rocks.

Friendly dogs - even healthy family pets - are being slaughtered right in front of their owners. Can you even begin to imagine how you'd feel if that happened to your dog?

IFAW has pleaded with government officials to stop the killing - and now we turn to you.

Please help us stop these cruel and massive slaughters once and for all.

Horrifying scenes of cruelty

Some of the pictures from culls like these are so horrifying that I can't even show them to you. And I hate having to describe this, but I think you need to know the truth about what's happening.

In one series of pictures, several small and fluffy white dogs - you can just tell they're used to snuggling on the laps of their loving owners - are trapped in a makeshift cage. One by one, the dogs are pulled out with a pair of long metal tongs, and brutally beaten with a stick. And then - even though it appears that some of the dogs may still be alive - they're tossed into a pit to be burned.

I can't even imagine the pain and terror these poor dogs endure when the fire is set.

So many dogs will suffer slow and painful deaths...we must stop this cruelty now!

What we're doing and how you can help

We have received so many messages in the past few days from animal lovers like you inside and outside China - pleading with us to step in and stop the slaughters like the one in Hanzhong City.

I assure you, IFAW is working to end these culls:

We CAN stop culls like this

We recently joined with concerned animal lovers in China to stop a similar mass slaughter in the city of Heihe by pointing out that the killing of dogs that have rightful owners is a violation of the basic rights of a citizen - owned dogs and cats are considered the "personal property" of Chinese citizens, and should be protected under China's Constitution.

Plus, it has been proven that rabies can be effectively controlled by a well-managed vaccination program. In fact, a humane vaccination and neuter program in Chennai, India, has dramatically reduced rabies cases there by over 95%.

So we must act now to stop the killing! Please click here to contact the Chinese Ambassador in your country to call for an end to mass slaughters like this and to encourage China to pass legislation that protects all animals, including companion animals.

And then please donate what you can today to help us set up an emergency vaccination fund to help cities in China establish rabies prevention programs, help eliminate these mass dog culls once and for all, and to continue our mission to protect animals around the world from cruelty.

The slaughtered dogs of Hanzhong City deserved a better fate. Please help us ensure that dogs in other communities in China are protected from similar mass killings.

Thank you so much for your help,

Fred O'Regan Signature
Fred O'Regan
IFAW President

p.s. I have to tell you, the images of this dog slaughter keep me up at night. If you've ever enjoyed the companionship of a dog, then you know that they truly are members of our families. Please help us protect family pets by donating to our vaccination fund and our anti-cruelty campaigns around the world.

Please forward this e-mail to your friends, family, and colleagues who care about animals as much as you do.

Report: 70% Of Pets At Animal Control Euthanized in JAX, FL

Please Cross post!!

We need everyone's help!! There needs to be drastic changes at Jacksonville Animal Care & Control. As you will recall they promised change after the last report done by the state last year, instead of changing for the better things have gotten worse. Now they say they have made changes but I can tell you that has not happened. We need another director and vet to take over. We also have not heard about the new facilty that was suppose to be started this summer. I am attaching the report that the Jax AC&C and the city refused to give to us. The report is appalling, much worse then Folio described. It is also 25 pages long. It is actually animal abuse. There is also another report I am attaching. This report is about a Dobie mix at Jax AC.

Now  the Vet at Jax AC did note that the first surgery was listed has a neuter but the other surgery just says "other". This surgery was to have the dogs ears cropped, we think because she knows it is against city policy, to have the tax payers pay for cosmetic surgery she did not specify what it was. Also the dog was to old to have this surgery performed. The picture of the dog is before his ears were done. Most of the people at Jax AC know this was done but could not say anything for fear of losing their jobs but they did send me this. The dog was adopted to Wendy Axel she is a Vet Tech at Jax AC

We all need to contact the powers in charge, the mayor, and city council. We need a new director and a new Vet in there . So please email or call them. We are planning a meeting with the amyoror to picket Jax AClet me know what you think. We will set this up after we hear from everyone.

Also the Folio reporter will send me a copy of the article by email tomorrow. Channel 4 is also doing a story.

Provide food to abandoned (and often abused)dogs and cats just by playing the trivia game below. For every question you answer correctly, we'll donate kibbles of food to help feed abandoned pets. The more you play, the more shelter pets we can feed! Spread the word and make a huge difference!

I was talking with a coworker the other day and he informed me that animals do not have emotions. This is just after he told me (the day that I put my dog of 17yrs down) that animals do not have souls and therefore will never enjoy the concept of heaven. Now, this coworker has the disadvantage of being, what I refer to, as a "bible-thumper." He is, in fact, a born-again Christian. Please bear in mind that I have nothing against Christians, nor do I have anything against religion in general. I do, however, have a problem with this coworker passing along faulty information.Animals do have emotions and they also have souls, and I'll tell you how I know that.

In over twenty years of working with animals, I have never seen a kitten duct-tape a live human baby to a freeway.

I also have never seen a cat find enjoyment from setting a human on fire.

I've never gone hiking in the desert to find a child that dogs have left tied to a stake, without food and water, subjecting it to a painful death in the desert heat.

I have never seen a chicken force two unwilling humans to fight in a ring with razor blades attached to their feet while the chickens place bets on who will be the first to die.

I haven't seen a puppy place eight children in a gunnysack and drown them in a river. Neither have I seen an eagle aim a shotgun at an unarmed human.

I have yet to see a bear kill a human simply to place a head on the wall of their cave. And to this day, I have not seen a pigeon drive a car down the road and aim for humans who were walking around the park.

Let me tell you what I have seen.

I have seen my own cats sleep next to me so they may keep me a little warmer while I was ill.

I've seen my dogs play games with me just to force a smile to my face.

I have seen a cat rush into a burning home not once, not twice, but six times to save her kittens, nearly losing her own life in the process.

I have seen a ferret pull a frightened kitten out of a deep hole in the ground.

I have seen a coyote fetch another dog so that it may get the proper medical care that it needs.

I've seen a dog, who loves to jump on people, avoid jumping on me when I injured my back.

I've seen elephants cry.

I've seen monkeys scream in empathy when one of their own were injured.

I've seen puppies whine all night long when they were separated from their mothers.

I've seen a dog pull a child away from a fire.

These are only a few of the things that I've seen. To list them all would take a lifetime, and I think you get my point. As for the soul thing? Well, it is my humble opinion that if you have emotions, any kind of emotions, then you have a soul. Ironically, the pope of the Roman Catholic Church recently stated that he feels the same way.

Now, I can't prove that animals have souls. But then, I can't prove that you or I have one either. And for all those people who firmly believe that animals don't have souls - well, I suppose if there really is a heaven, you'll probably have the job of cleaning out all the litter boxes...

Thank you Stacy Mantle

I recently watched a segment of this horrible show where they were hunting in Africa and KILLED a beautiful Bull Elephant! These men appeared to be Americans too. This show needs to be banned as do most of the shows on this station.

The Station is called VERSUS

Dangerous Game

Dangerous Game wins Outdoor Writers Association of America
2006 Excellence in Craft Award
!

Dangerous Game: Enter a world where the hunter becomes the hunted. ‘You get the lion or the lion gets you’ as legendary scribe Robert Ruark once surmised. Dangerous Game will take you along on heart-pounding hunts for the planet’s most fearsome beasts: elephant, Cape buffalo, lion, leopard, brown bear and many others. Along the way you’ll hear the chilling accounts of attack survivors whose vivid details will set the stage for encounters with the deadliest animals in the world. There’s never been a television series like it, so come along and enter a world where split-second decisions mean the difference between life and death. It’s a place where the only life insurance worth a damn is a hunter’s ability to place a bullet into the boiler room of danger when it comes calling. This is one series you’ll never forget.

The Myth Of Pet Overpopulation & Sparks A Revolution

Nathan Winograd is a man on a mission  - and he won't be deterred.

His new book, Redemption - The Myth Of Pet Overpopulation And The No Kill Revolution, is sparking controversy - and with any luck , a revolution -  in how animals are treated  and killed -that's right - killed - in our nation's shelters.Redemption_by_nathan_winograd

Before I go any further, if you live in or near NYC - get free tix to see Nathan Winograd LIVE this Friday, 9/7 in NYC at his book signing  or book tickets for other cities click HERE)

AND -I have this say to all dog owners,  get thee to a bookstore or Amazon.com and get yourself a copy of Redemption - immediately.  And to all pitbull owners - I  COMMAND you to get a copy immediately.  For real.

The founder of the No Kill Advocacy Center, Mr. Winograd, a Stanford educated attorney and former prosecutor,  as well as the former director at the San Francisco SPCA and the Tomkins County SPCA in upstate New York, clearly and intelligently makes the case  for a No Kill Nation - a policy that helps raise the rate of adoptions and lower the rates of shelter killings.

Squirming In Their Seats

But the release of his new book, Redemption, coupled with a national book tour with stops in 17 cities across the country, seems to be making more than a just a few people at some large, national "animal protection" organizations just a teensy bit uncomfortable.

OK - make that a LOT uncomfortable.  I'd say that the HSUS, PETA and the ASPCA are squirming in their seats over Redemption, as evidenced by .........

TWO THIRDS OF THE WORLD'S TURTLES ARE THREATENED WITH EXTINCTION!

- For Asian species, the figure is 75%.  This is primarily the result of human consumption.

- Despite legislation restricting trade in many turtle species, enforcement is weak, and many internationally and nationally protected species still find their way onto Chinese plates.

- UP TO 20 MILLION TURTLES PER YEAR ARE CONSUMED IN CHINA, and in 2000 alone, 25 tons were imported from Sumatra each week.

- Any action that endorses or participates in this devastating trade pushes wild turtles one step closer to extinction.

PLEASE SIGN BOTH PETITIONS TO HELP PUT AN END TO TURTLE SLAUGHTER--BOYCOTT CHINA TO END ITS DEVASTATING IMPACT ON ENDANGERED SPECIES AND ITS MONUMENTAL ANIMAL TORTURE!

Dear friends,

I am sure that the *Tesco turtle campaign is not new to you, but did you know that Tesco is launching in the USA as
Fresh & Easy?

*TESCO will soon be opening stores in the USA called Fresh & Easy. This is the TESCO that sells and butchers turtles while they are still alive in China. TESCO also allows their customers to take the turtles home to kill them any way they wish. A decapitated turtle head can survive for an hour. This is a VERY GRAPHIC animation showing how turtles can be killed in China and Asia. Experts have spoken against what TESCO is doing but TESCO continues to sell and butcher turtles alive in China in their search for profit.

We have a petition; please support by signing it and help us to stop TESCO making profits from butchering animals alive.

To raise awareness in the USA I have started to produce some media to help.

I am posting media to the usual youtube and the likes, but came across a site which may promote the media even further if it gets enough interest.

We need to get the USA aware of Fresh & Easy as quick as we can, hopefully in time for some protests outside of the store openings.

If you have the time could you please do two things;

1- For those that have USA contacts please make them aware by sending them these links, also please ask them to sign the petition as this now involves them

There will be many others on YOUTUBE, MYSPACE, etc but this FLIX55 one might get us even further coverage.

I hope you can help the turtles that are being butchered alive every day.

I have just viewed video of a turtles head that is very much alive and conscious long after decapitation.

We need to put a stop to this cruelty at the hands of Tesco.

Please cross post to as many groups as you can, time is short to organise demonstrations in the USA ............ .

I am hoping that you will all use your knowledge and contacts to help and get this widespread in the USA.

Take care, Paul.
