The snow leopard was hunted for fur and as a trophy and was already rare by 1970. Today, the snow leopard is threatened by illegal hunting for fur, as well as for body parts and bones for traditional medicine. They are threatened by loss and fragmentation of habitat due to the encroachment of humans and livestock, loss or displacement of prey (including the effects of large-scale marmot and pika poisoning programs), and lack of adequate protection. Snow leopards are also killed for preying on livestock.

In product testing on animals, rats, mice, guinea pigs, rabbits, and other animals are forced to swallow or inhale massive quantities of a test substance or endure the pain of having a chemical eat away at their sensitive eyes and skin—even though the results of animal tests are often not applicable to humans. Some experimenters also use the lethal-dose test, forcing chemicals down animals' throats, pumping them into their stomachs through a tube, or injecting them into their bodies until a percentage of the animals die.

The company Canine Caviar sells thresher shark cartilage as dog chew
bones. This means they are not only contributing to the extinction of
the already endangered thresher sharks, but also poisoning their
clients' pets with mercury rich dog bones.
The sale of this product has been exposed by Shark Rescue, and they
were able to convince one of Canine Caviar's clients: Best Bully's to
cease selling the product.Canine Caviar has already received multiple polite
and educational letters from several different conservation organisations requesting
them to cease the sale of this product. Still the company persists on
selling these "great white chews".
Now Sea Shepherd Supporters and Global Wildlife Warriors have launched
a protest letter campaign.

Dear Canine Caviar,

I am writing to urge you to remove Great White Chews from your product
line.

As a nature and animal lover, I care about the environment and always
make my purchasing decisions accordingly.

I am disturbed and alarmed that you advertise thresher shark cartilage
as dog bones on your website. Thresher sharks like most species of
shark, are being over fished and face extinction. The biggest enemy to
sharks is man. That's why we must now do all we can to preserve them.

With a simple google search, immediately this information pops up:
“All three thresher shark species have been listed as vulnerable to
extinction by the World Conservation Union (IUCN). Thresher sharks are
very slow to mature, males reaching sexual maturity between 7 and 13
years of age and females only between 8 and 14 years, which makes them
highly vulnerable to overfishing.”

Another extremely important issue is that shark products contain high
levels of mercury. So the dog bones you are selling are unhealthy for
any dogs. When browsing your website, I see statements, “Our true
Holistic diets consider all aspects of your pet’s health and
nutrition”, “Our pet foods are on the list of veterinary alternatives”
and “Nutrition is and always will be our number one priority.” If you
are serious about these statements, then you will not sell a product
that you know is unhealthy for your customer’s pets.

Finally, the page where the Great White Chews are advertised contains
several lies. Shark cartilage is not an anti-cancer supplement. Sharks
get cancer as humans do, and there is no scientific proof that shark
cartilage has anti-inflammatory properties or would improve joint
health.

I find that with these facts, I have no choice but to warn my family
and friends (including those on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter), not to
buy from your company or the companies you supply. Since there are so
many lies on that one page, you cannot expect people to trust any of
your other products.

Only when you take responsibility and prove to be environmentally
engaged and thus remove this unethical, unhealthy and misleading
product from your product line, would I be willing to promote your
company and products to other people again.

TORTURE & RAPE OF AN INNOCENT DONKEY IN TORREORGAZ, EXTREMADURA

We have read with 'HORROR' about the torture to death of a donkey by a dozen 17 year old savages in your municipality. We urge you to punish the criminals, making an example of them and to forbid this traditional celebration of the 'Quintos' from now on. I have never visited Spain & I will NEVER visit Spain until it adopts ANIMAL WELFARE LEGISLATURE to protect ALL animals.

To sadistically torture a hapless DONKEY by beating her up and raping her with a broomstick destroying her insides, is absolutely HORRIFIC beyond belief. The intolerable PAIN & SUFFERING this BEAUTIFUL DONKEY must have endured is too abhorrent to even contemplate.

SPAIN is a Country visited by tourists from all over the world. This is just reprehensible & these SAVAGES must be punished severely. What sort of MESSAGE are you sending out to the rest of the world if you allow the brutal torture & slaughter of this DEFENCELESS DONKEY to go unpunished?

As a Country you are visited by tourists from all over the world, who will not TOLERATE & who should not have to WITNESS such MINDLESS, SADISTIC & indiscriminate ANIMAL CRUELTY. There are many people from around the world, adults & children alike, who may have been visiting your Country. One of these tourists may have been at this celebration & had to witness this indescribably barbaric, sadistic & heart wrenchingly cruel torture & slaughter of this INNOCENT DONKEY. To witness such a despicable act, which is so horrific it is like something out of a 'CHAMBER OF HORRORS', could traumatise a person for life. We are living in the 21st CENTURY, not the MEDIEVAL PERIOD. As a Country, it is YOUR responsibility to implement ANIMAL WELFARE POLICIES that CRIMINALIZE anyone who commits this sort of atrocity, abuse or cruelty to ANY animal. How can you condone this behavior & do nothing about it & still expect to be treated with RESPECT as a Country.

I will be sending this letter out to friends I have all over the world who belong to various ANIMAL WELFARE SITES, ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANISATIONS & many other BODIES/GROUPS that are concerned with the WELFARE OF ANIMALS. This sickening story must get as much PUBLICITY as possible. I may even contact the TELEVISION 'MEDIA' in the UNITED KINGDOM & see if they will AIR this horrific story on one of our MANY news programmes. I belong to a lot of ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANISATIONS, as do a lot of my CONTACTS & FRIENDS. I will make sure this BEAUTIFUL DONKEY has not had to endure this horrific torture & slaughter in vain.

I am absolutely OUTRAGED, my HEART is BREAKING & I am CRYING inside when I think of what this INNOCENT LITTLE DONKEY had to endure. Not only was her precious LIFE taken away prematurely, she also had to SUFFER so horrendously during her last few moments on this EARTH.

If you as a Country do nothing to 'PUNISH' those responsible for this heinous crime towards a LIVING SENTIENT BEING then you are outwardly CONDONING this torture & murder of an innocent animal & should be UTTERLY ashamed.

I may only be ONE person, but I DO NOT GIVE UP EASILY. I speak for the MAJORITY when I say that this prehistoric savagery & cruelty towards animals that is prevalent in your Country or ANY other Country will NOT be tolerated.

All animals are SACRED and we should be teaching the ADULTS & CHILDREN of our WORLD to treat them with LOVE, RESPECT & KINDNESS.

The First Fruits Festival, which occurs annually on the first Saturday in December, is a Zulu cultural event intended to celebrate the coming of age of Zulu warriors. The young warriors—teenage boys as young as 14 years old—are tasked with killing a bull with their bare hands to prove their courage. According to reports, approximately 40 young men push sand or mud down the bull's throat, gouge out his eyes, and twist his genitals before kicking and beating the animal to death and tearing his flesh apart with their hands. Traditional rules reportedly dictate that no tools, not even a knife, be used during this event.

On November 24 & 25, 2009, hundreds of thousands of buffalo, pigs, chickens, rats, goats, and pigeons are scheduled to die as part of the Gadhimai Jatra festival in Bara, Nepal. For two days, hundreds of men armed with knives will compete in a gruesome contest to see who can slaughter the most animals, receiving a fee for each one they kill.     Attention, animal lovers! After a long fight, California’s dairy cows have emerged victorious! The ASPCA applauds California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who made history by signing into law SB 135, a bill forbidding the cruel and unnecessary amputation of dairy cows’ tails. Since tail docking is already outlawed for horses in California, SB 135 will simply add the words "and cattle" to the law's language.
    Tail docking is a common practice of the dairy industry, where up to two-thirds of a dairy cow’s tail is amputated without the use of painkiller or anesthesia. The docking is often performed by applying a constrictive rubber band to the tail, cutting off blood flow and allowing the tail to fall off. This often leads to neuromas—dense masses of nerve endings associated with both chronic and acute pain. Infected wounds resulting from careless tail docking are also common.

Shameful poisoning of Strays from Gaesti Romania

    A night of terror in the city of Gaesti, county of Dambovita. The inhabitants were shocked to find tens of stray dogs dead or struggling in agony. It seems that the employees of the townhall wanted this way to get rid of the stray dogs. Although there was an investigation the inhabitants fear that the criminals will not be punished.

Alejandro Schayman was condemned to life imprisonment for his crimes. Previously, he had been sentenced to 20 years in jail, but he was free on parole. Alejandro Schayman is a fugitive from Chilean Justice, and he has not fulfilled yet any of the two sentences for his crimes. He continued working, eating, sleeping and celebrating life, unpunished for his crimes.
