Subject: [ukanimalrights] Please support internet auction to benefit Scooby Refuge

PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY

SDGA have recently received the email below from our greyhound buddies who are working out at the SCOOBY refuge in Spain. Please see www.scoobymedina. com (To see the website in english please click on the welcome icon on the right hand side of the front webpage).
The Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN) are having an internet auction to benefit SCOOBY running from the 17th January to the 23rd and there is some fabulous greyhound merchandise on sale. Greyhound lovers will certainly be very interested. Please click on the link below to enter the auction site and then click on the icon that says Galgo Rescue International Network.
Please support this very worthwhile auction and many Spanish galgos (similar to UK greyhounds) that have been abused and exploited by Spanish hunters will have a second chance of a dignified and peaceful life which they so rightly deserve.
Many thanks
SDGA

Subject: Auction to benefit Scooby Refuge

The Galgo Rescue International Network would like to announce an internet auction event to benefit the Scooby Protectora de Animales refuge in Medina Del Campo, Spain. The auction will begin on January 17, 2007 and will end January 23. It is being hosted by Carpe Canem and can be visited during those dates at
http://www.carpecan em.com/auction/ . 100% of the proceeds (after shipping) will be given to the Scooby refuge.

The auction will feature more than 75 dog-related items including fabulous Fast Jack sportswear, Hound coats by Telma Shaw and her galgo coatmakers, many greyhound collectibles donated by Operation Greyhound, lovely jewelry and accessories by Neckcessories and Neckcessities (Elisabeth Weinerman), and a treasure trove of lovely items from Greytwear, Thera-Paw, Cheryl Johnson, Judy Greenfield, Betty Christian, Cindy Siddon, Jordan Graustark, and Lori Sanders.

Please visit the auction frequently and bid generously. Again, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Scooby refuge - and directly to the dogs.

We are very grateful for all the assistance we have received in preparing for this auction and would like to thank all of our donors for their generosity. We also are very grateful to Shirley Sureck of Florida for initiating the auction.

*Please feel free to cut/paste and cross post

Petition: NO to Mass Dog Slaughter in China

Officials in a southwestern Chinese county brutally slaughtered 50,000 dogs in a government-ordered crackdown after three people died of rabies.

Dogs being walked were seized from their owners and beaten to death on the spot. Killing teams also entered villages at night creating noise to get dogs barking, and then beat the animals to death.Had the government been more attentive and proactive about rabies vaccination, the killings wouldn’t have been necessary. Only 3 percent of dogs are vaccinated against rabies and more than 2,000 people die of the disease each year.

Regardless of culture, the brutal killing of innocent life, human or not, is unacceptable. This must not happen again in the future! It is essential that the Chinese government place an emphasis on widespread rabies vaccination to ensure human health and prevent the unnecessary loss of animal life.

Sign this petition to call on the US Ambassador to China, Clark T. Randt, to urge the Chinese government to adopt rabies prevention as a rule.

Consumers everywhere need to know the truth about fur. When people learn that millions of innocent animals are beaten, boiled, hanged, and electrocuted for their fur every year ... when they learn that every fur coat, lining, trim, or fur cat toy represents the intense suffering of several dozen animals? and when they learn that furriers intentionally mislabel fur as not taken from dogs and cats or as fake ... then every decent human being will want to go FUR-FREE.
