We must take a stand for human and civil rights.
(Please visit the ten links in this Share after reading all.) My brother's murder under secret arrest in 2003 made me aware of how inmates are treated in America and how little is done to protect their human and civil rights.  Every Monday throughout spring and summer 2010, I will protest injustice in the U.S. justice system outside of courthouses and media companies to protest censorship in media to hide abuses of power.  During the summer, I plan a trip to Washington D.C. to protest injustice at the USDOJ.  I began picketing this week.  I am fed up with people sabotaging my computers and doing other illegal acts to hide Larry Neal's murder, The (Johnnie) Cochran Firm fraud, and protect criminals in government.  Despite the danger of offending wealthy, unscrupulous people, I decided to leave my home where I have been secluded since being followed, accosted, and denied 911 assistance on September 27, 2008, and take a bold stand for justice.  See the announcement of MaryLovesJustice demonstrations in my blog -
Please help notify people about congressional bill H.R.619.  The bill is kept out of the media because passing that congressional bill would help decriminalize mental illness by resuming Medicaid for inpatient hospitalization.  That would end the influx of mentally ill people into prisons.  There are currently 1.25 million mentally ill inmates.
Human and civil rights are ignored for many people - even the right to life.  My brother, Larry Neal, a mentally and physically handicapped American, was secretly arrested and murdered in 2003 in Memphis Shelby County Jail.  That happened under the Bush administration while Gonzales was attorney general.  Gonzales was indicted in Wallacy Co., TX for withholding federal investigations in county jail abuses in exchange for private prison kickbacks in 2008.  He never went to trial.  My brother's secret arrest and murder were never investigated.  I waited until the "change" in administrations to put forth a request for records under the Freedom of Information Act.  The DOJ under Atty. Gen. Holder refuses to respond to our FOIA request despite boasts of "transparency in government."  The DOJ also refuses to investigate my brother's murder and the DOJ's part in his wrongful death cover-up.  Instead, the DOJ continues its role in Larry's wrongful death cover-up and allowed Shelby County Jail to submit fraudulent documents in federal hearings for Release from DOJ overview in 2006.  My family is persecuted, and I am stalked online and in person (sometimes by government vehicles) to prevent my telling the world about the injustice.  See and see my profile at - I believe the media has a responsibility to report news that can improve civil rights, which is also what I work to do.  I founded an online advocacy to decriminalize mental illness in America - Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill - - Mentally ill people are used to enrich prison investors by keeping them deprived of treatment needed to avoid incarceration.

Medicaid for inpatient care was deleted under Pres. Regan decades ago, and no provisions for mental hospitalization was included under H.R.3200 - the so-called "national" health care plan.  Therefore, 1.25 million mentally ill Americans are currently imprisoned, and many more join them daily, including Autistic adolescents, PTSD soldiers, and people who are stressed out by the economic downturn.  See more at   - So far, congressional bill H.R.619 has NO mainstream news coverage.  The bill was introduced in January 2009 by Rep. Eddie Johnson (D-TX) to resume Medicaid for mental hospitalization.  Passing H.R.619  would a) reduce prison costs by billions annually; b) restore hundreds of thousands of people to wholesome living because they would have treatment for mental illness rather than imprisonment AFTER avoidable crimes; c) end decades of discrimination against Americans with mental disabilities - the only people who are imprisoned for having a common, treatable health condition.  Passing H.R.619 would also interfere with the objective of imprisoning everyone possible to benefit prison investors, including many judges, elected officials, and other decision makers.  That is why this bill that could improve life for millions of Americans and reduce prison costs has no media coverage.   See more about H.R.619 - the SECRET congressional bill, at this link:

Cyberstalkers who attack my home PC sabotaged the machine so it cannot print links to tell people about H.R.619 and my brother's murder cover-up.  See this video:

If you live near Atlanta, consider joining me one Monday.  Wherever you live, there is a courthouse, prison, or media company nearby.  Grab a sign and say to people who earn revenue by imprisoning 2.3 million Americans (more than any nation in world history), "I respectfully disagree."

Justice, a Musical by Mary Neal
One day Larry went missing
We looked for him high and low
For 18 days while he died in jail
“Have you got him?” The Jail said “NO!”

On August 1, police came
A dreaded knock on the door
“We have Larry’s body. He died in jail
Sorry. We won’t tell you more.”

“Well, tell it to our lawyers!
The Johnnie Cochran Firm!
Lynching is illegal!
You might get prison terms!”

“Over that sick coon? We doubt it!
But give it your best shot
We told him to stop singing loud;
move on! But he would not!”

Mama cried silently as she signed her name
On the Cochran Firm’s contract
“Don’t let them kill other sick sons
Nothing can bring mine back.”

Lawyers gave us their assurance
And lots of tissues, too
Saying, “Dry your eyes, old Mama!
We’ll get justice for you.”

But The Cochran Firm tricked us
Their promises were only lies
They held Larry’s case inactive
And never asked how he died

The letters David McLaughlin sent
Were false, every one!
The Cochran Firm worked for the jail
Nothing was being done

Too late to hire other attorneys
When we discovered the fraud
Larry’s case file was empty
How could they do this? Oh, Lord!

“We’ll sue you for defrauding us
You can’t treat clients like this
Larry Neal was a person
The life he had was his!

We’ll tell the Bar about your fraud
The jury will make you pay
You deserve to lose your license
New clients won’t come your way!”

“Over that sick coon? We doubt it
But give it your best shot!
Police told him, ‘Stop singing loud;
move on!’  But he would not!”

Tennessee Bar said, “No biggie”
Georgia Bar ignored our complaint
Judge Shoob said, “What Cochran Firm?
There isn't one in this state”

“But judge, look out your window
The Cochran Firm’s right there!
On TV every few minutes
Your Honor, please be fair!”

“Get out of this courtroom!
Johnnie Cochran’s dead
We’ve got his firm and got his name
Now don’t you make us mad!”

“We’ll take you back to court again
You have a poor defense!
Your office is just blocks away
You can’t say you don’t exist!”

“We said it; judge signed it
Now get out of our face
Plead for justice all you want
You are the wrong damn race!”

“Look Media - A court order!
No Cochran Firm in Georgia!
Please tell the people to watch out
I’ll send some copies to ya!”

“Don’t bother; not interested.
Their clients are mostly blacks
Who cares if lawyers trick those folks?
It’s time you learn the facts!”

“But Larry was a human being!
He had a right to live!
The Cochran Firm worked for the jail
His death’s a secret still

We’ll write letters to Congress
And report you on the Web!
Jails and lawyers are not allowed
To conspire to hide the dead!

Georgia courts can’t protect you!
Nor the media or BBB!
We’ll tell the public what you did
And civil rights groups – you’ll see!

We’ll sue in federal court for your fraud
The jury will make you pay!
You deserve to lose your license
New clients won’t come your way!”

“Over that sick coon? We doubt it
But give it your best shot!
Police told him, ‘Stop singing loud;
move on!’ But he would not!”

“Judge look at this fraud; listen to lies
They told right in this court!
They helped the jail hide Larry’s death
While under contract to us!”

“We disclaim our Georgia office
Our Memphis office, too
Dismiss this case right now, Judge Batten
We all depend on you.

Wherever Larry’s family sues us
We claim we don’t exist
Can’t let this case ever go to jury
Sick black folks won’t be missed

Judge, don’t honor their subpoena
To Shelby County Jail
Can’t let this family ever know
What happened to Larry Neal!

This family is ridiculous
To think federal court would care
that lawyers lie to evade justice
Hiding murder's an immaterial affair!”

“The Cochran Firm is right!”
Judge Batten did agree
“Case dismissed! Immaterial!
Don’t come here bothering me!”

“But Judge, they tricked us!
Helped police hide Larry’s death
He had a right to live his life
Regardless of his health!

Thank God! Here comes CHANGE!
We’ll tell Mr. Holder
He’ll investigate Larry’s murder
This cover-up is over!

Mr. Holder, they killed him
Under secret arrest in jail
Thank God, you’re here now
And justice will prevail!”

“Were you waiting for me? Don’t be absurd!
Johnnie Cochran is Dead
We’ve got his firm and got his name
Now don’t you make us mad!

You don’t want to make us mad!”

Excerpts from News Article

Seven of the original eight jurors who condemned Workman now say they doubt he shot Oliver. Five of them have signed sworn statements that they would decided the case differently had they known then what has come to light today. But it is Paula Dodillet, Oliver's daughter, who has attracted national attention for joining those jurors in their pleas for granting Workman clemency.

- In 1999 the defense finally tracked Davis down in a Phoenix motel room ( a "vagabond alcoholic" who testified as an eye-witness for the prosecution at Workman's trial).  He tearfully confessed on videotape that he saw nothing, but was bullied by members of the Memphis Police Department to testify otherwise.

-An X-ray (which was not used in Workman's trial, but surfaced 17 years later) shows that the bullet that killed Officer Oliver did not fragment inside his body. This is significant because it most likely was not a .45 bullet - the kind of ammunition Workman's gun used.

[There was a hearing to determine if Workman deserved a new trial.]

-It looked as if the majority of judges would vote in favor of granting Workman a new trial [based on new evidence]. But at the last minute, two senior, or retired, judges - both appointed by Republicans - decided that they wanted to be part of the panel. Senior judges have the right to join deliberations when they choose. Those same judges also happened to be on the three-judge panel that had already denied Workman's request for a new trial. The senior Republican judges swung the en banc vote to a tie.

NEW INFORMATION: Officer Ronald Oliver, the murder victim, was one of three Memphis police officers who responded to the 911 call when Philip Workman robbed Wendy’s Restaurant on August 5, 1981. Months prior to being killed while attempting to apprehend Workman, Officer Oliver had crossed a police picket line. After the strike, Oliver was placed on guard duty at the jail for a period of time, possibly because of animosity against him by his fellow officers. He was killed almost immediately after resuming street duty.   More about Philip Workman’s case is available at this Wikipedia link:

Dr. O.C. Smith was the Chief Medical Examiner when Officer Oliver was killed.  His testimony at Workman's trial was key evidence for the prosecution.  Thirteen years later when Workman's execution was imminently pending, Dr. Smith is alleged to have staged a kidnapping -- of himself.  Dr. Smith was found in a stairwell to the Shelby County Medical Examiner's office with his head wrapped in barbed wire, explosives and notes secured to his body.  The notes accused Dr. Smith of lying about bullet trajectory during Mr. Workman's murder trial.

Despite Dr. Smith's apparent attempts to cast doubt on his damning testimony about bullet trejectory during Oliver's murder without making an outright admission of perjury, and despite other new evidence presented above, Workman was denied a new trial and executed by the State of Tennessee on May 9, 2007, after having spent 17 years on death row and saying final goodbyes to his daughter 4 times.

Dr. Smith was indicted by the feds for staging his own kidnapping and for the explosives, but never stood trial.  Some of the federal attorneys were reportedly dissatisfied about that and quit their jobs over it.  There was discussion around trying Dr. Smith in 2008, but that did not happen either.  One cannot examine Smith's "kidnapping" without possibly exposing other criminals among police officers and higher-ups, and having to examine the possibility that Tennessee denied an innocent man a well-deserved new trial, kept him on death row for 17 years, and killed him in disregard of the fact that the main witnesses used against him had both recanted - Davis, the alcoholic vagabond who police put forth as an eye-witness to Oliver's shooting, and Dr. Smith, who apparently tried desperately to cast doubt on his own expert testimony used to condemn Workman.

I suppose Workman's execution was pretty important to those two retired Republican judges who stepped out of retirement to swing the vote against a new trial for Philip Workman.

Philip Workman's case came to my attention while researching the Memphis Coronor's office after the secret arrest and wrongful death of Larry Neal, my mentally ill brother who MPD arrested and held in Shelby County Jail for nearly three weeks, but denied having him under arrest until he died on August 1, 2003.  This was presumably done to kill Larry by depravation of his heart medication because police were tired of "fooling with Larry Neal," as a county employee warned one of his relatives two weeks prior to Larry going "missing."  But despite Larry's numerous arrests caused by his acute mental illness, the State of Tennessee refused to re-hospitalize him as an inpatient, as he had been for about 20 years before many mental institutions were closed in the 1970's.

Although it appears that Workman did not kill Officer Oliver, at least he tried to rob Wendy's and created the chaos that resulted in the officer's death.  My poor brother, on the other hand, was guilty only of being sick and DENIED inpatient care.  The only thing Larry Neal created was a headache for Memphis Police officers who tired of "fooling with" the acutely mentally ill black man who they knew had a heart condition requiring prescription meds.

For being sick, Larry got a back-door death penalty.

The poor copy of the autopsy report we received from the Memphis Shelby County Medical Examiner's office appeared incomplete, and we were informed there was no coronor's inquest or other investigation being done regarding Larry's arrest and death. Despite asking for nearly six years, that faxed autopsy report and Larry's death certificate are the only documentation Larry's family has been able to ascertain on his final arrest and wrongful death.

The (Johnnie) Cochran Firm Fraud was used to prevent our lawsuit against Shelby County Jail and the State of Tennessee. The USDOJ, which was in oversight of Shelby County Jail following a lawsuit by the USA for aggrevious violations against inmates, refuses to investigate Larry's death.  Dr. O.C. Smith was also Chief Medical Examiner when Larry Neal was autopsied, and it was interesting to learn that Smith seems to have a history of using his position to cover for police.

I can certainly see why those federal attorneys quit their jobs after learning they would not be allowed to take Dr. Smith to trial.  They are probably honest people who found they worked for a corrupt agency that stands AGAINST justice - the USDOJ.
