The website Living and Raw Foods describes the menu of a “faw foodist,” explaining, “Raw and Living Foodists eat all fruits, vegetables, sprouts, nuts, seeds, grains, sea vegetables, and other organic/natural foods that have not been processed. In some instances, there are special ways to prepare the foods (example: most raw and living foodists soak/sprout nuts, seeds and grains before consuming them).”
Though few and far between, an occasional blog devoted to raw living can be found while poking around the net. Tommie is one of few bloggers who updates us on her raw living lifestyle on a regular basis.
It’s Awesome to be Rawsome
Tommie describes her commitment to raw living in her profile. “I am the only one in my family and my extended family who has headed down the Raw Food Path. It can get lonely because of that, but I’ve gone too far to turn back now,” she says. “What I can tell you for sure is that if you want to experience the best health you ever have in all your life, eat only raw food, and eat only the right raw foods in the right proportions. It will make you a believer!”
On her six month anniversary of eating only raw food, Tommie wrote, “Isn’t that amazing! It doesn’t seem that long when I was feasting on cooked food and loving it but now it’s about as tempting as a pork chop would be. I can look at it and smell it but I don’t want it.” She continued, “I’ve been getting ready to go to my son’s place and it takes longer than if I had a couple of kids to pack for. That’s the only thing I don’t love about this lifestyle. I have to be sure to take enough food to do me while I’m gone.”
Vegan momma commented, “Congratulations! Your blog is truly an inspiration.
I have always eaten a lot of raw food. The past year I increased it to about 70-80% daily. I don’t feel great when I make cooked meals, even though the majority are lightly steamed.”
Tommie congratulated herself again on her one year anniversary, writing, “It’s amazing what a change in lifestyle will do. I know it’s drastic and more extreme than what most of the population would be willing to do. For those few who have the desire, I say ‘Go for it! It will be the absolutely best thing you have ever done for yourself, physically, mentally, and emotionally!’ There can be a spiritual improvement, too, with the ‘dark’ days gone.”
