OXFORD UNIVERSITY REVEALS THEIR LATEST VICTIM

Videos are at the end of the text
The images of the truth are quite disturbing.

In an extraordinary move Oxford University have exposed to the world
the real nature of animal abuse inside this world renowned
institution. In what would appear to be an own goal on the part of
Oxford University, the university late last year opened their doors to
a BBC2 film crew. It is clear that the university were hoping for a PR
coup as they showed the willing and rather gullible documentary film
maker Adam Wishart around one of their vivisection laboratories which
the showed the sanitized, 'acceptable' face of vivisection that
vivisectors want the public to see.

The BBC 2 documentary called 'Monkeys, Rats and Me', largely focussed
on the work of the vivisector Tipu Aziz, and in particular focussed on
one monkey who Tipu Aziz had named Felix. Perversely Felix's soon to
be tormentors have given him a name which in Latin means 'happy'. It
is believed his naming is a so called 'in joke' by Oxford University
vivisectors.

For the first time in the UK, and probably worldwide, a vivisection
establishment, namely Oxford University, have exposed the name,
photographs and videos of the non human animal they intend to abuse
over a period of several years. They even disclosed in the film what
form the abuse would take.

In the film Felix was shown strapped to a restraining chair, being
conditioned by Oxford University technicians for his future life of
research. For the camera, Felix's 'conditioning' was allowed to take
place 'on his own terms': the technicians did not force him to sit in
the restraint chair or to come out of his cage if he appeared
reluctant. However, those who have themselves witnessed the harsh
realities of life in the laboratory when working undercover and
released their stories and their evidence to the wider public would
say that this was a falsified representation of what goes on in
laboratories, and biased media coverage at its most blatant. It is not
surprising then to find out that the producer of the so called
documentary was David Henshaw, a journalist who in the 1980's had
written a book called 'Animal Warfare' which purported to be story of
the Animal Liberation Front but in reality was a work of pure fiction.

The BBC2 documentary reported that Felix was destined to undergo
invasive surgery on his brain. The Home Office licence granted for the
long-term experiments on Felix allows the infliction of
severe/substantial suffering. It is also known that once the
experiments on Felix are completed, the university intend on killing him.

SPEAK Campaigns, the group campaigning against the building of
Oxford's new animal experiments lab on South Parks Road, has begun a
campaign to get Felix released. They have arranged for a sanctuary to
care for him and have conducted numerous demos in London and Oxford to
raise awareness. They have also added a page entitled "Fighting for
Felix" on their website, which includes a short video entitled "Felix:
Victim of Oxford University", a petition, articles, and downloadable
campaign materials.

SPEAK's website states, "For 3 years now SPEAK have been fighting
Oxford University's plans to build a new animal lab. Thus far what we
had been fighting was a concept, bricks and mortar if you like. Felix
brings the individual living being into this fight."

The website goes on to say, "At this moment, we are unsure how long
Felix will be allowed to live. It could be that his life will closely
resemble the pitiful lives of the 'Oxford two', two macaques who were
surgically brain damaged and forced to endure 15 years of abuse,
incarcerated inside Oxford University's laboratories. One thing is for
certain, however: if we don't act now, Felix will never see the
outside world or his own kind again. Felix will live, will be abused
and will ultimately die never having experienced the freedoms, which
are his birthright."

Ain't Nobody Telling Me What My Baby Allergic To

March 28, 2007 | Issue 43•13
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/60018

So yesterday some bitch nurse at the clinic was wasting my time trying to tell me my baby Liondrae all allergic to penicillin or some shit. I don't know what kind of made-up bullshit that is. She probably, like, said it just to come off all important.

Besides, who asked her to tell me what 'Drae allergic to anyway? I only brought him to the clinic 'cause that cut on his arm he got trying to climb the chain-link fence behind our apartment got all nasty and green and shit. They jabbed his arm up with penicillin to clear it up, but next morning, he got all swollen and looked funny, so I had to bring him back in, and that's when the nurse say he must be allergic. Now he have to be given special antibiotics twice a day, like I got time to fuck around with medicine.

And then they tried to blame me for the penicillin shit, like I should've known he'd have a bad reaction to it. Well, I ain't allergic to penicillin, so I know he didn't get that shit from me. Plus, if he was allergic to something for real he would have told me about it. He probably reacted crazy like that because they poked him up with all those needles, not 'cause of no antibiotic nobody asked them to squirt up in him in the first place.

People think they can teach me shit about 'Drae I don't know. They think I sit around all day and don't lift a finger. They go on about how he needs to be toilet-trained before he goes to kindergarten, but they don't give a shit that I know his favorite food is Gummi Bears, and that he loves Sean John. He also has this wooden spoon he calls Ugga that he bites on all the time, which I know is a little fucked-up but I let him do it 'cause it's important to let kids be kids.

I'm a good mom. I don't see anyone else watching that baby all damn day long and buying him Arby's.

'Cept for sometimes his older sister Rywanda watch him. She eight now and she needs some fucking responsibility if she's not going to go to school. I told her how the people from the school get on my ass when she don't go, but she can't stand second grade. I'm like, damn, I didn't start cutting class until fifth grade. I thought she'd at least get through elementary, but I can't make her do shit she don't want to do. She just like me. But if she ain't going to school no more, Rywanda's gotta stay home and watch 'Drae.

That boy better get over this shit soon, because ain't no way I'm going back to that clinic again. It took my ass near three hours to get there 'cause I have to transfer buses twice. Shit always happen when I take the kids on the bus, like that one time 'Drae got lost at the station and ended up on Channel 7, and that bitch Debra practically lived at my house for a week. If she want me to go back to that bullshit clinic, she can start giving me money for cab fare. I don't see her taking no three goddamn buses to get to her job.

It's not like I don't got enough other things to do beside drag my ass all the hell the way out there. Those clinic people are real assholes, making me get 'Drae shots for some rubella crap he ain't even got. Even with all that vaccination shit 'Drae keep getting sick anyway. If they had a vaccination against crazy-ass temper tantrums that come out of nowhere, then I'd be down with that.

These doctors think they can be the boss of you, like they know everything, but I know they are always trying to take money for stuff that just clear up on its own.

Like everybody say Rywanda had strep or some shit two months ago. But she's a strong-ass bitch like her mom, and she fought that shit off in three weeks. Never even saw a doctor. 'Drae strong, too. All that medicine and vaccination stuff just makes kids cry all the damn time. I ain't raising no weak-ass baby who's gotta live in a bubble. I saw a show about kids who are allergic to like sunlight or air or something, and their parents can't hug them or nothing because they'd, like, die. That ain't happening to 'Drae, 'cause I love my baby. Plus I'm not covering everything in my house with plastic bullshit.

'Drae'll turn like four or something soon, and he's got to learn to stay away from stuff that makes him allergic, especially if I get that night manager job at the BP. It's like, cats make my eyes all watery, so I stay the fuck away from them. I don't want to find out he got sick playing with a big-ass jar of penicillin 'cause he never learned it'll hurt him. But 'Drae smart. He'll figure it out eventually, just like he did the clothes dryer.

SARASOTA, Fla., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- If you have ever heard of "Super Size Me," the junk food documentary, then get ready for a stunning look at the other side of the dinner table. Scheduled for release this
summer is "Supercharge Me ... 30 Days Raw."
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20060622/FLTH011LOGO )
And we mean "RAW."
"Supercharge Me ... " is a "rawcumentary" -- a film showing what happens when one eats only vegan, raw, organic food -- and nothing else -- for a month. This is the story of a woman who wanted to fulfill a
lifelong dream: to dress up as a Las Vegas showgirl for Halloween. But that dream met reality in the mirror -- and she knew something had to be done.
Her odyssey took her from Sarasota, Florida to San Diego, where she began a 30-day raw food detox program. The regimen was difficult to follow at first because it had little in common with the way she
was accustomed to eating. Raw foodists eliminate from their diet all but uncooked "living" foods. These foods include organic fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, sprouted grains and juices. Some believe raw food to
be more nutritious than cooked foods because the foods' digestive enzymes and nutrients are intact.
Documentary cameras followed this young woman as she interviewed doctors, raw food gurus, celebrities (Ben Vereen and Kathy Sledge) and a variety of other people from around the world who follow the
raw food lifestyle. And the lenses captured her daily determination to follow the program for one month.
You'll definitely want to see what happens during this woman's quest to turn herself into the Las Vegas showgirl of her childhood dreams.
"Supercharge Me ... 30 Days Raw" is being produced by Emporia Pictures.

Killing me softly with lobster tale

``Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,

We can begin to feed."

``But not on us!" the Oysters cried,

Turning a little blue.

``After such kindness, that would be

A dismal thing to do!"

Lewis Carroll 's poem ``TheWalrus and the Carpenter" is probably the greatest seafood saga of modern times, and a prescient tribute to thenotion of ``humane" degustation. The oyster-loving Walrus courteously invites a flock of bivalves out for an evening stroll, distracts them with talk of cabbages and kings, and then slurps them all up.

The poem is a satire. But you know what they say. If you wait around long enough, yesterday's satire becomes today's absurd reality.

Comes now Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Inc., which recently announced it would house its lobsters in individual, ``condominium"-style pens before passing the luckless crustaceans on to customers. (In the kinds of communities where Whole Foods plants its flag, condominiums for lobsters are a much easier sell than affordable housing for people.) Then last week Whole Foods abandoned the condo idea and stopped selling live lobsters altogether.

The huge chain still sells ``select raw and cooked frozen lobster products" from companies that promise to treat the lobsters really, really nicely. This means killing the lobsters using water pressure instead of boiling them to death.

Oh, frabjous day! I'm having my skull crushed instead of burning in pitch. Thank you so much, enlightened suburbanites, for caring so much about me!

The better-heeled portion of the American bourgeoisie has a new motto: First, Do No Harm. Just a few weeks ago, I wrote about a man who built a million-dollar luxury house from salvaged wood, and commissioned a custom dining room table , made from a ``wind-fallen elm." Shortly afterward , I read in the Independent newspaper about a boutique hawking wedding gowns stitched from ``peace silk," ``made from silkworms that live out their life cycle rather than being boiled alive."

These same brides sometimes opt for ``carbon offsetting" honeymoons, ``where they fly abroad . . . but work on panda conservation in China to ease their guilt," according to the newspaper. If you can't offset, you can at least aspire to a ``carbon-neutral" wedding, which means the guests from Seattle are advised to arrive by bicycle, not jet plane.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just wait for trees to fall down so we could build houses for people? Wouldn't it be great if millions of chickens and cattle could be convinced to sign up for voluntary euthanasia programs so we could eat meat? Wouldn't it be nice if those nasty insurgents who are killing our sons and daughters in Iraq would just come talk to us over some Organic and Fair Trade Certified Monkey King Jasmine Green Tea, always available at you-know-where? What a wonderful world it would be.

Do No Harm ideology hit an apogee last year when actress Radha Mitchell sat down for an interview with Lynn Hirschberg of The New York Times. Gassing on about her dirty movie ``High Art," Mitchell ate a poached egg with the yolk removed. ``She is a vegan," the Times explains, ``but still eats the whites."

So what happened to the yolk? Does not eating it wish it out of existence? Should I really feel better about killing sentient animals because some executive assures me they're feeling minimal pain? I interrupted a telephone interview with Margaret Wittenberg , Whole Foods' vice president of quality standards, who was expatiating on the ``very calm and peaceful environment" of humane slaughter, to ask if it would be OK for her to kill all the people in her office, as long as she did so humanely?

``That's really a stretch," she said. ``We are talking about animals that are raised to be eaten."

Perhaps. But killing is killing. Either live with the fact that we are high-level predators who like to eat the flesh of animals lower down the food chain or stop the slaughter altogether. Otherwise, we are Carroll's blubbering, hypocritical Walrus:

``I weep for you, the Walrus said:

I deeply sympathize."

But his high-flown sentiments were wasted on the animals he had just devoured.
