Journey's End Ranch Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit, tax exempt 501(c)3 that provides a permanent and loving home to 15 special needs animals - 6 mustangs, 2 burros, 6 dogs and a pig. All of these animals were facing death or slaughter and all have health and emotional challenges.

I am a disabled vet tech with very severe health challenges. I choose to do this work because helping animals is my passion, and because they need it. The prevention of horse slaughter and advocating for wild horses is almost as important to me as the air that I breathe.

Due to my health and the economy, I now find it necessary to ask for the generosity of others to help pull us through. I am unable to work, since running the sanctuary is a full time job, and the remainder of my time is spent advocating for wild horses, for the prevention of horse slaughter and for other animal welfare causes. I do offer consultations in holistic animal care and living with Lyme disease and chronic illness, in exchange for donations.

We cannot borrow any more money to support the sanctuary, and only about a third of our needs are currently met by donations. We have added a $5.00 a month option button to one site. There are other donation options, also.  $5 is so very little, but if 250 people were to do a monthly donation, we would be fully funded, when my disability income is included.

Thank you so much for reading this and caring!  I need your help now to save this sanctuary and these animals.  Here is the link to do that:http://www.journeysendranchanimalsanctuary.org/be-a-sponsor-for-a-horse.html

Sincerely,
Catherine Ritlaw,

Despite a lawsuit filed against the BLM by IDA and Craig Downer, the BLM will be allowed to proceed to roundup 90% of the Calico wild horse herd. It will not be a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2500 now wild and free mustangs. Recent video shows these horses to be fat and healthy. There is no need to do this, except that the BLM has already increased welfare cattle grazing in the same area. Please call head of the DOI Ken Salazar and protest (202) 208-7351.Tell your Reps (202) 225-3121 and the President (202) 456-1111 that you want a moratorium on wild horse roundups. visit  www.aowha.org,    www.journeysendranchanimalsanctuary.org   and   www.wildhorsepreservation.com for more info.

BLM WILL RESUME CRUEL HELICOPTER ROUNDUPS OF OUR WILD HORSES DECEMBER 1st. Horses are killed, injured and lose their families and their freedom. The BLM is disregarding the law to protect these animals. Please contact your Reps to support a moratorium on BLM gathers pending Congressional investigation. Please sign petition at http://animalrights.change.org/actions/view/blm_and_wild_horse_roundups. Please sign petitions on "contact" page of http://www.jeranimalsanctuary.org. PLEASE DON'T LET MORE HORSES  BE HARMED. I have 3 BLM animals with permanent damage from their abusive practices. Visit http://www.wildhorsepreservation.com for more info.

THE BLM PLANS TO FURTHER DECIMATE OUR WILD HORSE HERDS DECEMBER FIRST!  PLEASE CONTACT YOUR REPS ION WASHINGTON TO URGE A MORATORIUM ON WILD HORSE GATHERS PENDING CONGRESSIONAL INVESTIGATION OF THE BLM. HORSES ARE KILLED AND MAIMED. THEIR HERD SIZES ARE BEING REDUCED TO GENETICALLY NON-VIABLE NUMBERS. THE BLM ALREADY HAS MORE ONCE-WILD HORSES IMPRISONED (30 THOUSAND) THAN STILL EXIST IN THE WILD. 20 MILLION ACRES HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM THEM. THE BLM CONTINUES TO VIOLATE THE 1971 WILD HORSE AND BURRO PROTECTION ACT.  THEY ALLOW 100 "WELFARE RANCHER" CATTLE PER ONE WILD HORSE ON OUR PUBLIC LAND!  ONLY 3% OF AMERICA'S BEEF COMES FROM THIS GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED PROGRAM. DNA STUDIES HAVE DETERMINED THAT THE MODERN HORSE EVOLVED HERE, SO HE IS A NATIVE SPECIES. HE BELONGS HERE. PLEASE CALL (202) 225-3121 Your Reps in Washington or email them. An easy way to contact your Reps is to join congress.org. Otherwise, just google their name and you can email them from their websites. Go to my page and get more info and access to my petition. Please sign it. However, petitions aren't enough. We must contact our Reps. Please help us. I have three animals with permanent damage from BLM abuse. They should be living a free and healthy life in the wild, instead, they must live at my little sanctuary with physical and emotional scars. PLEASE HELP. CATHERINE RITLAW, jeranimalsanctuary.org.

THE MODERN HORSE EVOLVED IN NORTH AMERICA, AS PER DNA RESEARCH OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS. WE ARE LEARNING MUCH FROM HIM- NATURAL HORSE KEEPING, NATURAL HOOF TRIMMING, HOW TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH BODY LANGUAGE. OUR GOVERNMENT (THE BLM) IS DECIMATING OUR WILD HORSE HERDS. THEY ARE "GATHERED" IN CRUEL, HELICOPTER ROUNDUPS, THEN IMPRISONED IN HOLDING FACILITIES. RANGE PROBLEMS ARE BLAMED ON THEM, WHEN IN FACT, THERE ARE 100  WELFARE RANCHER'S COWS PER WILD HORSE ON THE RANGE. PLEASE SHOW SOME GRATITUDE AND URGE YOUR REPS TO SUPPORT A MORATORIUM ON BLM WILD HORSE GATHERS. IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE THE NORTH AMERICAN-EVOLVED HORSE, NONE OF US WOULD HAVE HORSES.

I have been studying Tibetan Buddhism 7 years, on my own, due to severe chemical sensitivities which prevent contact with others. I run an animal sanctuary and have been active in animal welfare issues, especially wild horses. Finally took a moment to check out spiritual groups here at care2. Very glad to find you!
