Hi everyone! There is a great quiz on Care2 right now from the Friends of World Heritage.
How much do you know about World Heritage? http://www.care2.com/polling/vote/206
It's a really fun and challenging quiz, and Friends of World Heritage is a fabulous group, so I suggest signing up for their list as well.
Thanks!
Em

- The time for running scared from Big Oil is over. The time for making a change is now.

It is time that our leaders mandate car companies raise their mileage standards>>

The technology is here. And you'd think that after all the news on global warming that our leaders would have already acted. But nothing has happened. Yet.

I want higher miles per gallon>>

The Senate is considering a number of energy ideas. Their plan must significantly increase motor vehicle fuel economy standards and increase the availability of alternative fuels to use in our vehicles. Their plan should also increase other forms of energy efficiency, close loopholes for oil and gas drilling on public lands, and make the energy grid more energy efficient.

If Congress adopted a provision setting a mileage standard of 35 miles per gallon by 2020 we could save 1.2 million barrels of oil per day and save consumers at least $25 billion. Without such measures, the U.S. will continue to consume vast quantities of oil and generate global warming pollution.

Demand a plan to improve vehicle fuel economy and make cleaner fuels more available to consumers>>

Thank you for helping make a difference on this important issue!

The recent, severe flooding in Miami, Okla., has endangered numerous pets unable to escape the high waters, contamination and chaos brought by the onslaught of rain. American Humane's Red Star Animal Emergency Services team is on the scene, helping animals stranded in the storm or requiring temporary shelter during their families' sudden relocation.

You can help by donating today to the American Humane Association, which mobilized over the Fourth of July holiday to lead the devastated area's animal rescue activities. In hazardous conditions, emergency workers piloted our fleet of rescue boats to save dozens of companion pets trapped in submerged homes. We're also helping the local shelter process a continuous, large influx of animal intakes and manage an emergency shelter in an outdoor covered space.

For more details about our rescue efforts, or to donate, click here.

Ready to Protect Animals -- Anytime, Anywhere

American Humane's Red Star Animal Emergency Services team is always on call to serve. As soon as a disaster threatens, we contact local authorities and remain in close communication with them to determine whether we can help. In instances where we're needed, we deploy a nationwide network of trained animal emergency services volunteers whose relief and rescue experience in other disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina, is invaluable. We also provide an 82-foot-long "Disaster Response Rescue Rig" outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment to serve as an emergency command center, responder base of operations and mobile veterinary clinic.

Fifteen of our staff and volunteer responders are now in Oklahoma with the American Humane Rescue Rig doing everything they can to ensure the safety of local animals. Join us in this critical emergency response effort by making a donation today!

Hey everyone. Please sign this petition. It's really important that we establish basic ground rules for the treatment of airline passengers -- we all know what it's like to have a rude flight attendant, but to have to sit for 9 hours while the plane has already landed? That's ridiculous.
