Name: Frank R. Beardsley
Type: Memorial (for the deceased)
To Honor: Individual(s)
Location: Oakhurst, New Jersey United States

My grandfather passed away on May 8th, 2007 at home with his wife, my grandmother, by his side.  My mom came over to be with her and later our entire family got together to honor him and grieve.  I will never forget him and have promised to do several things in his memory and for his family, my family.

A great photographer, a good man & husband, enthusiastic owner of his 1930 Model 'A' Ford antique car, and a kind, wise grandpa, I learned much from him.  Though I took time for granted and missed the chance to say or do certain things, and have to live with that.  But that doesn't take away from who he was and how he touched the lives of many.

He was born in 1926 in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was a lifelong Jersey Shore area resident for 81 years.  Working as a senior photo editor at the Asbury Park Press, he retired after 46 years of service.  Catching many famous moments in time, he won numerous awards from the N.J. Press Photographers Association & National Press Photographers Association.  "Frank was a true newspaper photographer and he dedicated his entire career to the Asbury Park Press, and to the many photographers' lives that he touched over the years," affirms NPPA Region 3 director Tom Costello.

My grandfather was also a member of the Antique Motoring Club of Monmouth County.  He was a graduate of Manasquan High School and served on the Ocean Township Board of Education for seven years.  And he was a parishioner of the Atonement Lutheran Church in Asbury Park, and an usher and a volunteer in the church's food pantry.
