Have you realized how early Easter is this year? As you may have heard, Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20 this year).
This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify as Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar. Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier March 22) but that is pretty rare. Here's the interesting info.
This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here are the facts:
1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!)
2) The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!
Dear Friends, Family and World Wide Community Members:
On June 24, 2007, my precious 10 week old granddaughter Evelynn Marie Biondo was viciously and brutally attacked at the hands of her so called father when she began to fuss because it was time for her to be fed. Her father, Joshua Cohen, annoyed that his sleep was disturbed, responded by elbowing Evelyn off the bed they were sleeping on. Evelyn fell to the floor and screamed in pain after hitting her head on the bed post. Evelyn%u2019s cries made Cohen grow angrier therefor chose to punish her with five blows to her head. He kicked her to the point of near unconsciousness. Then he shook her for about 30 seconds which is what this animal admitted to the Suffolk County Police Detective%u2019s. As he picked her up off the floor she began to come to and screamed in pain. Her cries for help cost her the normal life she had before her. That criminal act changed baby Evelynn forever. As he shook her, she went unconscious. Her eyes rolled behind her head and she began to have difficulty breathing. Instead of calling 911, he dressed her and walked her in her stroller to my daughter%u2019s place of employment. When Alicia saw Evelynn she immediately called 911. On the way to the hospital our innocent angel coded 2 times. When they arrived at the hospital, doctors placed Evelynn on life support and told us she would probably not make it. A spinal tap showed blood in her cerebral spinal fluid. This indicated head trauma. Later that evening Joshua Cohen was placed under arrest after he confessed to the crime. He gave a chilling and descriptive account of what happened in a cold and matter of fact fashion.
Today Evelynn has a moderate seizure disorder that so far has required two surgeries in an attempt to better control a build-up of fluid on her brain which causes the seizures. Her brain has shrunk and her eyes have developed hemorrhages behind them due to blunt force trauma, which as a result has caused severe loss of vision. At only five months old, Evelynns fight to live has only just begun. My sweet innocent grandaughter is at risk for cerebral palsy as well as several other neurological disorders and will always have a learning disability. This once healthy, vibrant baby girl can%u2019t even support her head, roll or crawl. She has not yet reached milestones that a typical 7 week old baby would have reached. Why? Because she was hungry and disturbed her fathers sleep.
Over the past few months I have had to watch my daughter struggle with coming to terms with what has happened with her child. I have had to watch an innocent baby struggle just to live. I have seen pain and sadness in both there eyes. My heart bleeds for them and many days the pain I feel for them overwhelms me.
In the meantime, that animal resides in the Riverhead Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail or million dollar bond. He gets three square meals a day and recreation, too. He gets to live, laugh, and breathe with out any problems other than being confined. He will probably get to do, realistically only about 15 years in jail, and on good behavior, less than that. Yet, my poor sweet and innocent granddaughter has a life sentence of handicaps, surgeries, medications, doctor appointments, expenses, and is deprived of ever living a normal life. That God given right was taken away by a so called %u201Cman%u201D who deserves a more suitable punishment than only 15 years or less. It was said his lawyer recently tried to bargain with the Suffolk County District Attorney%u2019s office claiming he will plead guilty in return for a 5 year sentence! 5 YEARS!?!?! This poor innocent child has a LIFETIME sentence of handicaps, doctor%u2019s appointments and struggles. That suggestion is criminal in itself. The fact that Cohen%u2019s lawyer could sleep at night is amazing. Thankfully the D.A. quickly denied his plea bargain. Believe it or not some D.A.%u2019s would have accepted that plea bargain. Its criminal!
Unfortunately, cases such as this one are becoming more and more prevalent. Many times the results are actually worse. Sometimes a child is brutally killed. Two things that could stop these senseless crimes are education and tougher laws. The attached petition is to ask our law makers to make it mandatory for people like Joshua Cohen to serve a mandatory 25 year sentence with no chance of bail or early parole. If you kill a child that same sentence increases to 35 years imprisonment.

When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person and gentle guidance and skill from the other. My eyes drew back to the word Guidance. When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i". "God, "u" and "i" dance." God, you, and I dance. As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust that I would get guidance about my life. Once again, I became willing to let God lead. My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies be upon you on this day and everyday. May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life. This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached. If God has done anything for you in your life, please share this message with someone else, for prayer is one of the best gifts we can receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards; so let's continue to pray for one another. And I Hope You Dance
Dance when you’re broken open. Dance if you’ve torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you’re perfectly free. — Rumi
"We know that we are being upheld, surrounded, encompassed by your steady intercession," a good friend wrote not long ago. This note, like the many others she had sent, was addressed not just to me, but also to the multitude of people who have been praying for her son for months now.
It is clear to me that these collective prayers are helping my friend and her family. While no one can truly go through this experience with them, they know that they’re not alone. They know that they are loved by many in their community, and that the love of God enfolds them. This is no small thing. How, then, do we deal with the inevitable question: Does intercessory prayer really work? And if so, how?
For starters, we’d need to determine what we mean when we say that something works. In the case of prayer, it typically implies physical or emotional healing, guidance or clarity on a particular issue, the resolution of conflict, an easing of grief, or the lessening of some burden, such as guilt or financial debt. When we receive the hoped-for result, we usually believe that our prayer has "worked."
So what about those times when it doesn’t? What about those situations when, in spite of our diligent prayers, our loved one dies, or the crops fail, or the war goes on and on? Have we not prayed hard enough? Or worse, does God not care?
I can’t pretend to have the answers here, so rather than offer some glib response, I’ll just share what experience tells me—that God is good, that in praying for others I’m somehow participating in God’s renewal of the world, that in praying I’m also allowing God to change me. This doesn’t begin to explain the mystery of intercessory prayer, but it’s enough to give me cause to do it.
O God, when I worry about the effectiveness of my prayers, when I become frustrated and impatient, remind me of your trustworthiness, and give me peace.
I thuoght this was a wonderful way at looking at the sabbath. God bless U & just feel freeeee!!!!! Put another way, observing the Sabbath is not about doing, but about being. It’s a time—an hour, a day, a week—to forget about time, to imagine our lives as more than what we earn or spend. When Jesus observed that "[t]he sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath," he was telling the religious folk of his day that there is something holy about stopping to remember where power and freedom truly lie: not in the commerce of our daily lives, but in the God who dwells in our hearts.
O God, when we are driven to perform, when we imagine that our days are measured solely by the things that we produce, let us remember the gift of your sabbath, and help us to let go of all that owns us.
There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks. It smells like strawberry also and it is being handed out to kids in school yards in AR. I'm sure it will make its way around the country. Kids are ingesting this thinking it is candy and being rushed off to the ER in dire condition.
It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange. It looks just like pop rocks.
Please instruct children to not accept candy that looks like this even from a friend and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc.
Pass this around it could save some family a lot of heartache!
They call it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
