~Science & Magick~
The Many Faces Of Magick
What is magick?
Science Evolved out of magick.
Ancient Philosophers were actually basically Wizards.
Socrates & Plato were known for performing Wonders, such as raising the Dead & Summoning Demons. (Although you don't hear much about that today). Socrates was known for having a familiar demon whom his friends and associates regularly consulted for help with their problems.
The term wizard means "wise one." The term philosopher means "lover of wisdom". Pretty similar terms that were at one time synonymous.
Physics was Orignially known as Natural Philosophy. Also, many early scientists were, (unbeknownst to most people today), dabblers in magick.
Isaac Newton, the man who formulated the theory of gravity and developed calculus, was a practicing alchemist. Speaking of alchemy - the famous goal of the alchemists was a magical stone that could turn lead into gold and give immortality. This stone was known as the "Philosophers' Stone". It was called the Philosophers' Stone because the practioners of alchemy commonly used the term Philosopher to mean one who practiced magick.
In the pre-renaissance world, wisdom was generally considered to be wisdom, no matter whether it was natural or supernatural in nature. Anyone who felt a love of wisdom studied all subjects and didn't differentiate much between what would be considered magical and what would be scientific. In fact, at that time, in many cases it wouldn't have been known which was which. Also, in many cases, subjects of this sort were studied along side religious subjects.
Due to the fact that literacy was largely common only among the clergy most of the sorcerers and scientists of the medieval world were christian monks and priests. One of the things that most surprised me when I started reading some of the works of sorcery from that time was the fact that the sorcerer was assumed to know how to say mass. The book was obviously written assuming the practioner of the magic was a christian priest.
"High Priest" (Hebrews 4:14),
"Wisdom" (Proverbs 8:12),
Science has been the Victim of Religious Discrimination for too long. It's time to stop this.
Written In memory of Galileo and all the Victims of Church Intolerance.
By the end of the fourth century CE it was sacrilegious not to believe the Christian God placed the stars in the Heavens each night.
In the 3rd century BCE, the Alexandrian scholar Eratosthenes correctly calculated the circumference of Mother Earth but at this time it was Heresy according to the Christian churches not to believe that the Earth was flat. (This is Not Including Gnostics)

Even the Christian Jesus/Yeshua believed in magic. Matthew 7:7-11. Only the Christians (Not Including Gnostics) Label it Prayer.
