Mental illness will grip society the world over. Children are already suffering from depression, and are exposed to other stresses. Instead of closing doors, the powers that be should be more proactive and promote mental wellness for the healthy and take care of those who suffer. With the money spent on war and billions of dollars in donations to every banana republic whose dictators line their pockets with the full knowledge of the provider/ enabler, it is time to tkae care of problems at home before going on a spending spree for senseless causes.

I am grateful I am a 20th century person. No matter how protective we are with our children, many will certainly break out of the mold, peer pressure and their demand for independence, sadly at a very early age. I see this in the 3rd generation, 21st century societal standards.

Today's youth add the cyberworld to their areas of conquest- a world sometimes beyond the protective shield of parents. We can only do our best at parenting, instill sensible values , compassion and honesty , and pray that they will turn out healthy, sensible honest and compassionate and less ego-centered. Thank you.

An article appears on Care2 accusing the Vatican, Iran etc. of hatred against women. This is going a bit too far. Not because I am a Catholic, but I have my eyes open wide to world issues/ events.
After all, I am an information junkie.  Accusing the Vatican of misogyny- hatred of women, is in poor taste. If the writer hates the Vatican and all that it stands for- stay away from it. Faith is in the hearts of millions of Catholics, amid the scandal and now this broadcast about Vatican's hatred of women.

The Catholic church is solid as a rock- against all attacks and negative propaganda, there are many believers- not like the fanatics who believe in killing as the ultimate in salvation.  Other religious sects make tithing an obligation- surprisingly, Catholics are not under any obligation to tithe. I certainly accept the pomp- around the Vatican- after all, it stands on revered ground. Don't you spruce up your surroundings when you expect visitors?

On whose truth is this story based on? Ever heard of Mother Teresa- her passionate plea against abortion? Not all abortions are right- anyone who does not want to have kids should take all necessary steps not to have kids before engaging in sex. No one asks to be born. It is the person's responsibility to get pregnant or not. Of course there other extenuating circumstances like rape and other forms of sexual abuse and youth promiscuity.
Bringing in laws -pro or against abortion, add the input of religious sects completely takes away the responsibility of those who chose to get pregnant with the intention of getting rid of the life they created. Laws or religious dogmas can not take the place of society's moral standards, which sadly is almost non-existent with sex as easily available like soda or junk food.

Truly, the world is full of unsung heroes- give credit where credit is due. Get used to politics and pop culture- these are people with the means and clout to really do whatever they do, many celebs have done a lot of good- using this clout and power. Welcome to lifestyle of the 21st century. The delivery of values have taken a different route- with globalization.
We can honor in our own simple and quiet way the women who have done their best  to stand up against all odds- women who are charged at an early age to be the caretaker of a family, who are at the forefront of equality, especially those who are considered " minority" . I didn't know there was a " majority. Women have taken great stride- in politics, the corporate world and other areas. Many names are unheard of- we honor them just the same without the hoopla of the media.

Four ways to overcome despair-

Thank you- a positive spin on a negative situation many of us experience at one point or another in life. It is easy to get caught in the moment- so let it be, acknowledge the despair ;but be aware of alarm signals that you are getting deep...er in your pain/ sorrow/ despair and all these negative potholes. I know- seen enough illness and death of loved ones, including my late husband, been subjected to enough ugly drama from people who are supposed to share love, respect and care; been incapacitated for three months due to injury, live in isolation and a lot of pain.

Believe me, it is not easy. I also live with medical issues. All the points in this article are indeed helpful -I meditate, I write. For a few weeks I can't take a walk outside afraid of slipping in the snow.I love to play the piano but with my injury- out of the question. I have a great view of the lake and Nature.

The internet is a great resource- being housebound - I spend a lot of time studying, reading. Life goes on- I have been hobbling along, with few personal human contact almost all winter long. I am battling depression and sun-downing. At past 70 years , believe me, anyone can get past despair, if one is willing to. No one can do this for you.Surely, someone out there cares.

At one point and time in life, we all need to look at stuff we have.  For heirlooms- like antiques, jewelry, dishes and collectibles, I started to give them away to relatives. Friends are now added to the list. I already downsized a decade ago- but still have a lot of stuff.
My problem is- I have a big website, and a reasonable volume of essays. I do agonize what to do with these- need to plan while I can. I am copying my website to a flashdrive- but would any relative or friend care? They are not even remotely interested in my writing.

It is easy to say get rid of your  clutter- what others consider clutter can real treasure for the owner.  I have books- some collectibles- I have a massive library of metaphysical books and piano sheet music.   What about photo albums?  Photos in your pc collected over time, travel photos with your loved one- in the end- who really can be bothered with these? Do the younger generation care?

There is so much written about the law of attraction. I like this article- qualifying the energy system at work in the human body. Focused intention really works for me. I call it my goal for the day. Some apply this principle but in the deep recesses of their mind, there is doubt. This negates the power of manifesting. One has to have faith too, and what they wish for is actually reasonable. A very broad topic- thank you for this angle and the info on the energy systems. Believe and go for "it".

We are all born from a woman. Tragic that the burning times and misogyny is not over. Hunt down and burn witches. Aren't there enough heinous crimes in this world- human trafficking, white slavery, graft and corruption everywhere in the world, sweat shops- these is just a small list of man's cruelty to man.
Why is witchcraft, sorcery or any "supernatural" gifts so frightful to some? Yet- it lives on with greast following. Don't tell me you've never met any such person in your life. We are supposed to be living in a knowledge-based society. I suppose depends on how knowledge is defined.

It helps to trust in one's spirit. At one point and time, we all suffer from wounded hearts from those who are supposed to love us and care for us. Yes, trusting in the spirit helps one to move on. No one needs to remain in a toxic relationship- no matter what ties bind you. They hurt you once, they will do it again. Solitude is nothing to fear- it opens the portal to peace, calm and serenity. One needs to learn how to be comfortable with oneself- then you can connect to your higher self/intuition. There is more to this world than be suffocated and thrust in a painful situation. No one needs to put up with other's drama. Life is too short. There is only so much drama one's spirit will bear.

Spirit is always near and ready to illuminate all limitations...

If you learn to listen and respect your intuition, it will not lead you astray. It helps to get you through some difficult times, urging you to believe , shows you a way to divert your wounded heart to a place of peace, calm and creativity. Sometimes I amaze myself when words just flow smoothly faster that I can type. It is a gift from the One above.
