START A PETITION 25,136,189 members: the world's largest community for good
Feb 14, 2011

Hi!, I need advice on how to handle a meeting that I have to go to in 3 days, which will be February 17, 2011.  It seems that some of the people living in the same community as I are unhappy about my feeding the feral cats. I have lived in this community for 11 years.  The cats that I am feeding are probably 5 or 6 generation.  There are about 6 cats that I feed 2 times a day.  An strange cat has come around for in the last couple of weeks. I am assuming this cat is very old because it walks around howling day and night.  Because of this the people I live close to have been complaining about me feeding them.  They have already called the pound trying to have them picked up and euthinized.  I talked to a lady that has only lived here a couple of nights ago.  She has a fear of cats and actually believes that these cats may try and run into her garage when she comes home at night.  I have been feeding these cats for 4 or 5 months and I still cannot get within 15ft of them. Most of the family of cats are males and there is one female. I believe the visitor cat is male because I saw it spray and therefore being in heat is not the reason while it is howling all the time.  It would not be so bad, except for this cat has a very loud voice. I know about the TNR program.  This is not good enough for these people.  They would like to see the cats destroyed.  Please give me idea of things I can say on Thursday night to defend their lives.  I am almost certain I will be the only one there that will be standing up for the cats.

About a week ago I got snagged by my spider friend that you see in this picture. You see his web was too close to my normal path between my garage and my patio. I didn't really want to take a stick to him and tear up his web so, I sprayed him out of the web with my water hose. I didn't kill him I just wanted him out of my path. I saw where he landed and I saw him crawl off. For the next day or two I was careful to watch out for him in order to avoid him.

Next thing I know he is outside my bedroom window upstairs.  This is where I got this picture. He is fine out there as long as he stays on the other side of that screen. When it got dark, I started to feel sorry for him because he had no catch in his web.

I took the lamp on the nightstand and elevated it to the level of the window and left the light on long enough for some unsuspecting moth to get tangled in his web. Is this crazy or what? He works so for what he eats!

His name is Spidee!
