Blog: Vote for First Coast No More Homeless Pets-one simple click!

Please take a minute to vote(just once)for First Coast No More Homeless Pets! They are making a HUGE difference on the First Coast(the NE of Florida)in the lives of animals via aggressive spay/neuter programs-and they need your help! Here's the email I received:

A simple click of your mouse can get us a chunk of $80,000. Here's how it works: Squidoo (a fundraising lense site) has been saving 5% of their total income since they got started. It's part of their mission to do so, and now they are asking for your help in giving some of it away. All you need to do is go to http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo-charity-giveaway and click on FIRST COAST NO MORE HOMELESS PETS. For each vote we get, they will donate $2 up to $80,000 or through October 15th. No joke, no gimmick. VOTE FOR FIRST COAST NO MORE HOMELESS PETS!!! 1. Feel free to invite as many people as you can to vote. 2. It's entirely possible that one non-profit could get the lion's share of the donations. It's all up to you. 3. Yes, it's ok to blog about this. In fact, tell everyone. Think website announcement, email list, etc. The more word you get out, the more potential donations we will receive. 4. Of course, you can also sign up with Squidoo and make a few lenses. After all, 5% of what they earn will continue to go towards First Coast No More Homeless Pets, and we will receive a passive stream of donations month in and month out. (And just for the record, everyone gets one vote only. We'll delete votes from duplicate accounts, and block the accounts.) Don't delay! Remember, this only runs through the first 40,000 votes or October 15th. http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo-charity-giveaway

Blog: Palin's 17-year-old daughter pregnant
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

ST. PAUL (CNN) - Bristol Palin, the 17 year old daughter of Sarah Palin, is pregnant and will keep the baby and marry the father, a senior McCain aide confirmed to CNN Monday.

McCain was aware of Bristol Palin’s pregnancy before he chose her mother for his running mate, the aide said.

“Senator McCain knew this and felt in no way did it disqualify her from being vice president,” said the aide. “Families have difficulties sometimes and lucky for her she has a supportive family.”

Bristol Palin, a senior in high school, is about 5 months along, in her second trimester, according to the aide.

The aide said they decided to reveal this information now because of rampant Internet rumors that Sarah Palin’s four month old baby, who has Down’s Syndrome, was actually Bristol’s.

“In the course of correcting that, we needed to get the truth out,” said the McCain aide.

In a statement from Sarah and Todd Palin, they said they were &ldquoroud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents.”

They also asked the media to respect their daughter’s privacy.

The McCain aide insisted a key point to keep in mind is that Bristol decided to keep the baby, a decision “supported by her parents.”

An added UPDATE:

(CNN) — Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin and husband Todd are talking directly about their 17-year-old daughter's pregnancy.

In a joint statement released by the McCain campaign, the Palins say their daughter will keep the baby and marry the father.

Full statement:

We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.

Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.

A personal note:

I really don't care if the girl is pregnant. I just find it ironic, given Palin's beliefs.

What I DO care about is this woman ( and I use that term loosely ) authorizing the point-blank range killing of 14 baby wolf cubs, who were sleeping in their dens and encouraging trophy hunting under the guise of arial "predator control". She cares not for the polar bears who are floating on what's left of the ice; she has stated they are in the way of drilling. HUH?????? Does she not comprehend that once a species is gone, it is GONE?? Oh wait....no, she realizes-she just doesn't CARE. That is not a female trait.

Blog: YOU can help make history
Have you ever wanted to help a great cause, but just didn’t know how?

If you’re like most people; you don’t have much time to volunteer, and you certainly are feeling the money-crunch. Yet; you still might be looking to donate to a cause that speaks to your heart-even just a small amount-oh say, maybe somewhere in between $10.00-$25.00 would be just enough to not hurt you financially, yet you know it’s going to be used wisely.
Well, for me-I found the perfect mission. I can help to keep Luke and the boys walking from Austin to Boston to fight cancer, by sponsoring them for a day; for anywhere between $10.00-$25.00. Check it out:

http://www.2dogs2000miles.org/Individual.html

To learn about this mission, before deciding if you want to sponsor the boys for a day:
www.2dogs2000miles.org

http://www.2dogs2000miles.org/Home_Page.html

Isn't it something we all believe in? Most of us have been hit by cancer in some form or another-let's help them end it.
Let's help make cancer a thing of the past by finding it's cause.

If you donate between $10-25 to sponsor the boys for a day-please be sure to NOT check the “Memorial Donation” of 25.00. That selection is for those who wish to memorialize a loved one on Luke’s shirt. This is how they can keep the donations separate. In other words, any individual donation given through that website which is not specified for Memorial Donation, will go to support the walk itself; such as shipping food to the guys, buying water if needed, etc.

There are other ways you can help as well!

If you don’t want to sponsor the guys for a day-you can help by purchasing some of their treats through the Registry:

http://tinyurl.com/2rtck5

While their food is lovingly sponsored, those dogs still LOVE their treats!

I’m going to help in memory of Maggie, whom I dearly loved and lost to cancer. How about you?

Blog: Online volunteers needed to help a great cause
Those of us behind the scenes helping Luke, Hudson and Murphy along on their journey from Austin to Boston are seeking online volunteers.

A Walk For A Cure:
Website http://2dogs2000miles.org

We anticipate some heavy online traffic soon as this walk progresses and gains both "people" attention and media attention. Therefore, we need volunteers to do some online work such as helping us respond to emails, and organize with other volunteers: who offered water/when, who offered lodging/when, who wants to walk or have an event/when, etc. Some questions are routed specifically to a few of us as per the website, but we're in need of all-around general online help.

If you would like to get involved, please go to the forum (link below) and there will be a section marked "volunteer signup". Please place your name, city/state ( please do not place your email addy-this is a public forum ) in there and what your strong points are-maybe you're good with talking to people or answering email, or maybe you're good with organizing volunteers, and so on.

We will then contact you through the forum messaging system.

If you know of anyone who would like to get involved and help this wonderful mission-please pass this message on. Actually, please pass it on anyway-maybe someone else may see it and be able to.

Blog: Walking With 2 Dogs For 2000 Miles

Raising Awareness Born From Grief

It's always devastating when we lose a loved one-we get angry and shake our fists yelling "why", we cry and mourn the piece of our heart that was taken with them when they passed. But eventually there comes a time when we choose to create something positive from that heartbreaking loss.

Many people donate to their local shelter or Humane Society in memory of the one they lost; while others plant gardens, write books, music or create art to share their experience.
Learning to focus on the positive is one of the best ways to promote inner healing, while at the same time it raises awareness for the animal-human bond.

Raising awareness is the reason behind 2 Dogs 2000 Miles.

On March 16, 2008 Hudson, Murphy and Luke will be taking off on their 2000 mile hike from Austin, Tx to Boston, Mass to raise awareness about cancer and to find it's cause.
What many people don't realize is that the majority of cancers that humans get are the very same cancers found in dogs.
This hike is a win-win situation to benefit both animals and humans.

If you go to the website, you can click on each tab at the top to learn more, as well as follow the hike on the blog or the interactive map that will be put up soon.
As they hit major cities, they're hoping to do some educational events to benefit local animal agencies as well as animal cancer.

And, if you think this is an awesome cause-you can always click that "volunteer" tab and help out!

Website http://2dogs2000miles.org

The vid says they're leaving Jan 08, but they are leaving March 16,08.

SAFE TRAVELS GUYS!!

Message: How YOU can help
http://www.smilingdogfarms.org/
We provide permanent homes for dogs who have no where else to go.

We never say "no".  We take the "unadoptable" dogs...
the dogs who would be euthanised if they could not come here

We are at a Crossroads...

Ricky and I can no longer cover the costs ourselves.
For Smiling Dog Farms to survive,
we must establish a solid base of small donors.
We call them Smiling Dog Partners.

We Need 1000 Partners...

Here is how we do the math:
At least 200 people know us and want us to remain open for the dogs who need us.
If each of these 200 people become Partners,
AND each finds just 5 friends or relatives to also become Partners,
we will meet our goal of 1000 Partners!

Just $10/month -- more if you can -- will save dogs' lives!

1000 Partners making regular, monthly donations will make it possible for us to continue
to take in the dogs who have no other options ...

If you have already become a Partner, we are not trying to hit you up again!

But if you have not yet found 5 more people to Partner with us,
we need your help!
We critically need each Partner to find 5 more partners.
That is essential for us to reach our goal.

Your tax-deductible donations will make it possible for dogs to live
who would otherwise be condemned to death!

Here's how to become a Partner...  Just click on the tab below

http://www.smilingdogfarms.org/Donations_Page.html

Please feel free to cross-post this message far and wide!
