On August 5, as part of a plea deal, a judge suspended a 270 day jail sentence after Rodney Smith pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges. Sixteen dogs, 2 cats, 3 hamsters and 2 parrots were removed from the home. The judge ordered that he could not own animals for five years.
Then just weeks later, on August 26, police were back at the home, and removed four dogs, two cats and one ferret.
No charges have been filed against him (yet).
