Please take some minutes to read this appeal. It is very important
and it won’t cost you anything. Your vote may help us to spay stray
and feral cats and avoid their babies’ death through drowning in hot
water. And all you will have to do is to vote in this stamp by writing your e-mail
But let me introduce myself first

My name is Lígia Baptista Rodrigues and I am from Portugal. My
sister and I have created a project to help feral cats. It is what
you call Trap-Neuter-Return. A Trap was offered to us by an
association that does the same. And this year we have spayed 6 cats.
We have created this project because where we live people drown and
burry the kittens alive. They refuse to contribute financially for
cats spaying. Therefore we created thye www.as-patinhas-da-
padina.blogspot.com. You can visit our blog and if you seek for a
translator in Yahoo.com you will have an idea of what we do.

Right now The Portuguese national Postal Service is holding a
contest for a postal stamp that according to the regulation of the
contest “is susceptible of being emitted in 2008”. It says that
the “CTT (Portuguese National Postal Service) may change totally or
partially the works created”. Therefore the only certainty is that a
prize of 1 500 will be delivered to the winner and that money would
be a real blessing for the animals we are helping. Money is like a
magic wand for animals.Everyone agrees that money is very important
for the animals, to spay them, to save their lives when they are in
danger.

I have sent a proposal of a stamp that I drew myself and I applied
under the category "Animals and Nature".

 Help me to win this contest for the animals. Slowly we will paint
their world with other colours, changing one here and there by
touching things, by touching them, by interfering, by acting. I
believe that I have changed a little the area where I live. I did
not change minds or hearts. They are as they always have been. I
have conquered many enemies but I changed their lives and futures
and that is all that matter. And I believe that they are grateful
and happy. They are not angry at us even though we have trapped
them. They still trust in us. They see love. They remember the good
that was done to them.

Therefore till May 31 do not forget us. If you are interested in
helping us please vote in my stamp. Vote and spread the stamp so
that we may convert the money into a safe and kind future for these
beings that we love so much that are so worthy of everything we do
for them.

Many people think that is important that this theme is the winner
theme but I must be honest with you I don’t believe that a stamp
will change the minds and the hearts of those who are cruel to
animals and those who are indifferent to their suffering. I have
learned that we cannot teach others to love, to care, to respect. We
have to learn to live in this dirtiness and do whatever is in our
reach and pray for those that our hands won’t reach.

In our street we have passed a lot information about the importance
of spaying the cats in humane way and they still insist that to
drown cats and to burry cats alive is better than to spay them
because it doesn’t give them any trouble. To capture and to spay is
confuse for them. It requires patience and they want to be quick.
They cannot understand that to drown animals is a crime. They see it
an act of mercy because it will impede them from experience hunger
and other dangers. The only way allowed us to deal with that is to
be what they cannot be and accept what they are. Sometimes there are
no reasons for evil acts. It is a choice that people make and not
the cause of lack of information, or of bad background, or of
education. For me every evil act is caused by lack of sensibility
and I still don't know how to arouse it in others. People have to
know love to want to banish suffering. Suffering is intolerable to
those who love with ears, mind, heart not with that superficial
sensibility, with that love that has no name, no words, no nothing
that is LOVE.

I don’t know how we can build a paradise on earth for the animals. I
know we all who help animals will lose so many and save some.
Suffering seems to be unstoppable. Human beings inflict pain on
their own kind and they seem not to know to stop it.
We must be aware of this because everyday thousands and thousands of
animals are wounded and those who really love them are so few and we
have to keep healthy in many ways.

We may not believe that a stamp will change or make people more
sensible to animals suffering. But we believe that with the money of
the prize we can diminish some pain and conquer some peace, because
it hurts us so much to know that someone drowned the kitten before
we have gathered the exact amount of money we need to spay a
pregnant cat.

We are not here to deceive ourselves because what animals go through
everyday is too real and so many times what is left us to do is to
suffer with them and take comfort in the fact that for an animal
there is only one hell, a hell that he has not created that is the
very same world that despises him, but after death there are no
barriers to them. They are not like us. They are better than us.
They are above us. Even though we share a soul, the animal’s soul is
purer, truer and more innocent than ours. I believe that it is
closer to the Being that created his life.
If there is a heaven the path to that heaven is the light of the
eyes of each animal. Therefore we will never give up. We will never
ignore their suffering as well. Relatively to the stamp we won’t
give up, we will continue FOR THEM.

Help me to win this contest for the animals. Slowly we will paint
