START A PETITION 27,000,000 members: the world's largest community for good
Jan 6, 2007

I'm Sarah from the Philippines and  I am raising funds for a trip to Kenya this January for the Global Young Greens and the World Social Forum. I still have a few hundred dollars to raise, actually $1,000 to be exact. Maybe you can help me.

The Global Young Greens Conference ( ) in Nairobi will be the second of a series of conferences to be held annually to bring together young environmental advocates all over the world in an exchange of best practices and ideas on environmental solutions. Rallying around the clarion call of Another World Is Possible, the World Social Forum ( is an annual gathering of development workers and has placed social justice, international solidarity, gender equality, peace and defense of the environment on the agenda of the world's peoples. GYG is WSF's side program so an extension to attend the WSF is an option

I want to go to Nairboi in January because I want to do more than what I am currently doing as an environmental educator at the Center for Environmental Awareness and Education, a non-profit organization that promotes environmental education in our country and as a volunteer for Greenpeace, and various environmental efforts.I would like to learn more about best practices and initiatives from development workers around the world.

I am requesting for cash donations of a minimum of $150 from various individuals and groups who would like to extend their assistance to a young environmental advocate like me. If you can help me raise more that would help a lot since I have a few days to go until January 9 to confirm.

All throughout the trip, I will be doing an up to date travelogue on my website, , which you may visit now too to know more about my fundraiser and the trip.

I will also be making a post-trip travelogue, which will be submitted to magazines and newspapers, to BK TV, a local environmental TV show,  with an acknowledgement of support and donation. Plans for a visual journal  or a photo exhibit are still up in the air but I will update you on developments.

I do hope for your support! I can be reached at
