I am a victim of crime while on vacation in the Bahamas. I had just arrived with my husband for a week, first time there. While in the hotel we were staying at on Paradise Island I was drugged, a knife held to my throat and raped all night long. Thousands and thousands of foreign construction workers are living in the Bahamas and are being placed inside hotels with tourists, this will continue for ten years. I am a crime victim, it happened within 32 hours of arrriving in the Bahamas inside our hotel. I reported the crimes committted on me yet these men were left to live inside the hotel with a never ending amount of tourists, women and children. Thousands and thousands of foreign construction workers are being brought in to build resorts and are living at the tourist hotels. I was told that the Bahamian govt did not do immigration procedures on these men, nor gave them work permits, and the hotel never registered them as we all had to. There were other crime victims, women murdered nearby on the beach yet they still did this, risking our safety in order to build. The United Nations has come out and stated that the Bahamas has the highest recorded rape counts in the world, ten times higher, the most violent deaths and a high assault rate. The Caribbean (including the Bahamas) has the second highest HIV-AIDS rates in the world. We must speak up, please help.

I am a crime victim now, it happened inside a hotel on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, a small island with thousands and thousands of foreign workers brought in to build a resort. These men were brought into the country without any immigration procedures nor personal work permits issued by the Bahamian govt. They placed these men into hotels with a never ending amount of tourists coming and going. The hotel did not make them register and says they do not know them even though they lived there for years.
