URGENT!!! MASSACRE IN CALARASI ROMANIA, PLEASE HELP 7:17 AM The killings of the dogs started in the Romanian city Calarasi with the pretext of a sick fox, who was declared infected with rabies. However there is nor an official warning neither any quarantine measure applied, which would be mandatory in any case of rabies infection. More information about this issue at http://www.savethedogs.it/ Please send urgently the letter below by fax and email addressed to both the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor of Calarasi. Also, please forward this message to your friends and familly. In the name of the dogs, thank you very much! We invite you to stop the killing immediately, to hire only skilled and equipped workers and to start urgently a vaccination plan, together with a neuter and release program like other Romanian cities are doing. It is believed a fox suffering of rabies has infected all the dogs in the area. It is not known at this point if this is true or not, but it is likely to be another way of trying to control the ever-growing population of stray dogs in this town and elsewhere in Romania. UPDATE 17/9/2007 The first 18 dogs have now been killed, thousands more are awaiting their fate in quarantene. The fox tested negative in an independant lab.
