Does a click actually provide money?

Is money actually provided because of a click to feed kids, cats, dogs, penguins, etc? Where does the money come from? Personally, I have provided homes, and, of course, actually fed and maintained rescue dogs and cats. Cat and dog food is more filling than clicks on a computer. Prove me wrong. PLEASE!
