since it was just earth day i thought i would take a look and see how im doing green wise..

-14 months and never bought a disposable diaper or wipe - cloth all the way baby!

-have not bought a pad or tampon in three years! - diva cup / cloth pads

-have drasticly cut my use of paper products down to almost nothing - use my own coffee cup (almost always) , no paper plates/cups, very limited use of paper towels.

-live in a dry cabin so no wasted water. all water is used and what goes into the slop buckets goes into the compost pile.

-also heat mostly with scavanged/found wood so only 200 gallans of heating fuel burned per year!

-compost! Woot Woot!

-eat almost exsclusivly organic - including in the summer farmers market and the veggie farm coop.

-carry my own bags to the store or use no bags - or i reuse the plastic bags as trash bags.

-bath / shower 3 times per week so i've cut down water consumption there - and of course at home i have an outhouse so no water is used.

-unplug everything if not in use! and of course fancy energy saving bulbs in everything.

I knew she was a bad idea.
from todays news miner talking about the preposed plan to mark polar bears as threatened on the endangered species list.
<b><I>"The offical Palin administration response says polar bears are thriving, that global warming science is inconclusive and that bears are not threatened by human activity."
What? makes me a bit ashamed of my state.

I’m having some serious wonder lust. To go someplace new, some new country or state and do some new thing. Or even just to get out of my job and do something more meaningful everyday, to get a different place that’s cheaper so I can pay off my bills faster… of course that would mean a cabin basically which would suck at -40. None of these things I can do right now – soon.... But not nearly soon enough and it’s driving me crazy.
I feel unproductive in life and feeling unproductive makes my head feel hazy and goo like.

I also got an email from Raytheon asking me if I was still interested for the position I applied for back in February. I am but somehow I bet they don’t have childcare center in Antarctica… otherwise I’d totally go. I wonder… would the birth certificate say place of birth: Antarctica? Wouldn’t that be about the most awesome-ness thing ever?

- Thoughts about life / work/ future / stuff -

I want to continue my journey to a social work degree even if I do it sort of lazily because in the long run that is what I want to do. I am not terrible motivated right now and not rich so I don’t mind it taking awhile.
In the mean time though I’ve been thinking about other things which can be done to get my foot in the social work door without the degree and also ways to get into the Peace Corps. Since even if I DID have my SW degree likely I would just be stuck teaching English which I really don’t have any interest in.
One program is RADACT which in about 6 weeks could get me certified as a Counselor Technician. I’ve emailed them for more info so we shall see what I can come up with.
Other plans also involved doing all sorts of nurse like classes and certifications here in Fairbanks so that I have an easy in to the Peace Corps / Red Cross as nurses or nurse aids are of course needed everywhere all the time.

I’m also still working on my doula certificate. I’ve been doing the required reading which I’m almost done with so once I finish that up I’ll really apply to the program and then can just do the classes and few papers and poof… I’m a doula.

Off line right now until -someday- because of lack of internet. Email is still the best way though in general seeing as how sometimes my phone works.....sometimes it doesn't.... and I don't get messages until the day after they are left.

I will give a bit of a real post though....

Life is better, still hectic and busy but not as panic -y as it was before.
I'm healing some personal wounds faster then I thought I would and starting to see the experiences and lessons I've learned from those wounds.

I’m leaving things in the gods hands right now, with only some slight guidance from myself. Life seems to be flowing in a nice natural and calm way for me at the moment.
