This week has been a dreadful week my friend. Piper fell ill and we had him at numerous vets including a speialist in Rhode Island. It appears our little fella had FIP and needed fluid removed from his chest twice and sub q fluids etc, we did this twice but his chest, lungs and liver filled again and there is no cure for FIP =( Not to mention the fear that went through us concerning the rest of our feline family and what this could mean for them. Sadly we said our good byes as I type you in tears Piper was put to rest last night buried in a wooden coffin my friend Brian made with his toys and blanket placed in the ground with his other toys and blanket and heart crystal and flowers and buried under a cedar tree in our meadow with a beautiful wooden cross Brian also made for us. I just held him and cried before he was laid to rest and I miss him so!! Webleached and cleaned and will monitor our guys and gals closely it is a low chance that they could contract it and we will believe in ALL healthy cats no negative thoughts of anythign different. I wanted so much for Piper to have a better life away from that feral colony and school and I guess for a short time he did. Take care.

Ella

Ella is being as sweet and brave as ever. She had another EKG and Ultrasound on 6-19-08 and is going in for another procedure called a Nasal Flush on 7-10-2008. This will allow the vets to analyze the discharge coming out of her nose and the nasal drip that is causing her so much discomfort. We are going to attempt this first and see how it goes. ANY donation of any kind will help us a great deal in contnuing the life long care of this super sweet kitty who had the unfortunate luck of being previously in the hands of a horrible hoarder. Now she is loved SOOO much, we raised 3,000 last year for her major surgery I know we can make $350. Thanks for your help as always.

Much Love,

Kim, Liz and all the kitties ESPECIALLY...Ella!

Dear Animal Loving Friends, Many people have been horrified by the recent cruelty case in  Plainville,  CT in which Saverino Cruz took a power drill and brutally drilled several holes  into  a dog's head. http://plainville.ctcitizens.com/story/police-charge-two-men-animal-cruelty Our Companions has received many calls and emails from heart-sick animal lovers asking what they can do to help pursue justice for this unthinkable crime.  We have been in touch with the Plainville Animal Control Department and have been advised that there are ways that you can make a difference.  1) Attend the Hearing that is  scheduled  for Thursday, February 14th at 9AM at Bristol Superior Court. (131 North   Main Street, Bristol, CT  06010 ). A large show of public support to prosecute Mr. Cruz  to  the fullest extent of the law would help make an important statement about the serious nature of this crime. 2) Write to the Prosecutor Steven Preleski (same address as the Superior Court) and encourage him to seek the maximum punishment for this crime. 3) Consider adopting a pitbull. The Plainville Shelter has several loving pitbulls that are in desperate need of a home. You can help this very misunderstood and needy breed by opening your heart and home to a homeless dog.  Check out Lucky, just one of the many sweet and loving  pitbulls that desperately needs a good home. http://search.pet finder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=9935606  4) Please forward this email to your animal loving friends and encourage them to also take action! Thank you for caring and I hope you can attend the hearing on 2-14-08

I am writing you to see if you can spread the world to others and even maybe help contribute yourselves. One of our kittys Ella is in need of a VERY serious operation and we are raising the funds through Salem Animal Rescue League in NH. She was fostered by us through SARL-NH and now lives with us in CT. We have already paid for her intial tests, medications, heart meds that she will be on for the rest of her life and her ultrasounds. She now is stabilized while we find a way to raise the funds for her surgery. It could run up to $3,000 with the after care and medications. As you know we lost our cat Chase (Ella's old roomate from SARL-Nh) in December to cancer and our other kitty Yum-Yum had major surgery for BArtonella and Stomactisis. We are VERY low on funds and are reaching out to the community, family and friends for help. If you cut and paste the following link into your browser http://sarl-nh.org/ and then go to DONATE on the webpage and scrool down to the title Tulip Medical Care Fund it will take you to Ella's page and a brief story about her. ANYTHING helps, a dollar from all of you would go a LONG way. Then forward this to anyone you know that might help too. This donation page wiill only be up about another 2 weeks. We thank you but most of all Ella thanks you! She deserves to live out the rest of her life happy and as healthy as she can be with us. If you do contribute please drop us a quick note at this email so we can try to track the amount raised. Again please remember ANY amount matters and we appreciate everything. Thank you.
Love,
Kim, Liz, Ella & all our kittys
