Whilst on holiday to see my son and daughter-in-law in London my husband and I went to visit the Natural History Museum, in London. We allowed about two and a half hours for the visit, but could have spent the entire day there.

The building itself is absolutely stunning and better than any cathedral or castle we have ever seen. I took numerous pictures of the details on stonework and ceilings. There is a central Hall which is absolutely massive and contains a large skeleton of a T. Rex. I show a few pictures of this in the accompanying album. Seated at the far end the the great hall at the bottom of the stairs, leading to the galleries and other rooms of exhibits is a large statue of Charles Darwin.

The gallery above the great hall shows many exhibits relating to Hominids, showing how their behaviours resemble that of modern man. The progression or evolution is shown with important stages being enlarged upon. One fascinating exhibit discusses how Neanderthal people had ceremonial aspects to their lives.

Unfortunately due to times constraints we were only able to view one other major room of exhibits.  This was the Geological specimens, which contains literally thousands of Rocks and Minerals. This room is also pictured in the accompanying album. At the extreme end is the Vault where all the most precious exhibits and jewellry is shown.

All in all a most fabulous experience which I would strongly recommend to anyone on a visit to London. A word of warning - Give yourself a lot more than two and a half hours to appreciate the wonders.

I hope anyone who views this share enjoy the pictures. I would be happy to receive any questions, providing I am able to answer correctly!
