The Care2 PetitionSite and the Care2 News Network are powerful tools for change.  A visit to Care2 Frogloop (all links open new windows) proved this:

Blogger Uses Petition Site to Create Better Transportation for NY

Post authored by Ethan Oringel of Green Brooklyn

When I started Green Brooklyn in December 2006, I knew that I wouldn't be doing much promotion for the site, never mind advertising, and that I wouldn't even really have enough time to create content and links as much as I would like. I was busy starting my green communications consulting company...

Recently, one Green Brooklyn cause has made some waves... Heather McCown of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn kicked off the idea of restoring ferry service from Brooklyn to Manhattan... (more here)

If you ever wonder whether or not one person can make a difference, hopefully, the above article will help ease your mind.

We have powerful tools for change at our disposal here on Care2 Connect, thanks to the hard work of the Support and engineering teams, so if one person can make the kind of changes written about above, so can we.

Have a great day and a great week, everyone.

The last updated Most Wanted List was posted May 5/07.  It seems like it's time to provide another update, just so that Care2 doesn't think we've forgotten what we're asking for.

Care2, for some time, now, members have been asking for:

(1) the Support and engineering teams to fix existing bugs and glitches, such as:

* Not receiving group emails

* RSS Feeds Intermittent or not updating at all

* Default Font Size Not Working

There are more bugs and glitches that have been ongoing for several months - and for some members, more than a year.

(2) option to customize the My Connect page (choose themes - like we can do with our groups, profile pages, and blogs - and select which modules to display)

(3) the option to send e-cards, messages, and green stars directly from the "My Friends" list.

(4) choices to check off when sending green stars, so the recipient knows why they're getting the star. (e.g. "Thinking of you," "Great post in _____ group," "Thanks for the star," etc.)

(5) an optional questionaire that can be filled out when people leave a group, for the purpose of providing feedback to the Group Hosts, so that they (Group Hosts) can gauge how well their group is working for their members.

(6) a "BCC" option in personal messaging (for privacy, and to help reduce and prevent spam)

(7) a direct e-card link to profiles

(8) the option to send more than one green star per week

(9) the option to send green stars to all friends at once, without having to click on each profile

(10) the ability to email friends directly from the Address Book in our email.

(11) groups which members host and/or co-host to be separated from the groups they don't host/co-host. (perhaps splitting the My Groups page would help?)

The Care2 Support and Engineering teams have been working very hard to resolve existing glitches and bugs. Some of these glitches have been resolved, but there are still some bugs being worked out, so please try to be patient while the engineers continue working to get everything up and running properly.

Should you find that features and tools aren't working, please fill out a Help Form and describe the problem in detail so the engineers can investigate. Make sure you include what you've done to correct things, too.

Thanks for taking the time to note this Most Wanted list, Care2, and thanks for working so hard to make things work properly for all of us.

Hi everyone!

I know this is overdue - heck, it seems as if the faster I go, the behinder I get...

I know many of you have been waiting to hear about what's going on with my newest grandchild, so here's the update:

Nikkita was released from the hospital yesterday, after spending all day and all night Sunday under a special UV lamp. Her color has improved a thousand per cent, and she's eating like a horse, now. Malika, the attending nurse, explained that there is still some jaundice left in Nikkita's system, but if she eats every two to three hours, her body will flush out what's left in no time.

I want to thank everyone who left comments for your prayers and your positive healing energies. I apologize for not updating you all sooner. I've also passed your comments along to my daughter, who also thanks you. Your caring and compassion has made a huge difference in the lives of our family...

As most everyone knows by now, my daughter gave birth to a beautiful little girl this past Thursday (May 24). Yesterday, I learned that the Health Nurse stopped by to check on my daughter and her new baby, and she found that the baby has a touch of jaundice.

The nurse is going to be visiting again today, and she will be letting my daughter know if the baby needs to go back to the hospital for treatment. Because she was born three weeks early, this can be a very bad thing, and we're all quite concerned.

There is a potential legal issue about this situation that we may need to pursue, as well, although we're hoping that won't be necessary. The discharge nurse failed to provide my daughter with information about what to watch for either with herself or her baby; she also failed to wait the standard 24 hours before discharging her. My daughter was discharged a mere 19 hours after giving birth, and without her doctor's approval.

So, I am asking for prayers for my daughter and her new baby. If you could please send positive vibes and healing energies their way, in whatever way that means to you, it would be greatly appreciated. I have never asked this of anyone, but I'm asking it now; my daughter and grandchildren mean everything to me, and I don't want anything bad to happen to them.

The picture below is my new granddaughter just two minutes after she arrived in the world.  Thankyou for taking the time to read this, and thankyou in advance for caring.

Hi everyone!

The painting has begun (it's being done as I type), and it's a good thing, too, because my daughter is officially in labor!  My newest granddaughter is on her way into the world!

For more information, please see my personal journal.  I'll be posting updates there as often as possible (oh, what I would give to have a laptop or something to take with me!).  I'm very excited right now, so please forgive me for not providing much in the way of actual information.

Many of you know I've been renovating my home, and that we were due to start painting the interior of our house today. Well, the boys (my boarders, who were supposed to start the work today) are nowhere to be found, and I have the feeling that if I wait for them, the work just won't get done.

So, for the next couple of weeks (and maybe even into the next couple of months), I'm not going to be around the site too much. I have a lot of work ahead of me, and I don't have a lot of time to get it done before our vows-renewal ceremony and summer holidays.

I will be checking in to see how things are going, and I do get my messages forwarded to my email so that I can keep up with things, but I won't be posting too much. Which, of course, means that I'm going to be relying very heavily on my awesome Co-Hosts to keep things going.

I will try to keep everyone updated on how things are going via my personal journal; please feel free to visit me there. I will also be updating my Home Renos album as film gets developed (ohhh, yes; I'm taking pictures!), so you can see how things are progressing.

Thanks for reading this, and have a great day!

Care2 is an active community, and polls are an important part of the pulse of this community.

Care2 has changed the face of polls by creating The Pulse, a polling station carrying current polls and offering members a chance to vote on them and leave comments.

This screenshot shows you what The Pulse page looks like. Click on it, and you'll be taken to Care2's new polling station.

Happy polling, everyone!

The poll for site improvements and changes here on Care2 has been set up, and as a community, you can make your voice heard. Please take a moment to visit the May Poll (link has been corrected; it will take you to the main page, where you will find the link that says "Take this poll!") created by Eccentric K., Host of the Care2 Cafe.

Thanks!
