I know this is overdue - heck, it seems as if the faster I go, the behinder I get...
I know many of you have been waiting to hear about what's going on with my newest grandchild, so here's the update:
Nikkita was released from the hospital yesterday, after spending all day and all night Sunday under a special UV lamp. Her color has improved a thousand per cent, and she's eating like a horse, now. Malika, the attending nurse, explained that there is still some jaundice left in Nikkita's system, but if she eats every two to three hours, her body will flush out what's left in no time.
I want to thank everyone who left comments for your prayers and your positive healing energies. I apologize for not updating you all sooner. I've also passed your comments along to my daughter, who also thanks you. Your caring and compassion has made a huge difference in the lives of our family...
As most everyone knows by now, my daughter gave birth to a beautiful little girl this past Thursday (May 24). Yesterday, I learned that the Health Nurse stopped by to check on my daughter and her new baby, and she found that the baby has a touch of jaundice.
The nurse is going to be visiting again today, and she will be letting my daughter know if the baby needs to go back to the hospital for treatment. Because she was born three weeks early, this can be a very bad thing, and we're all quite concerned.
There is a potential legal issue about this situation that we may need to pursue, as well, although we're hoping that won't be necessary. The discharge nurse failed to provide my daughter with information about what to watch for either with herself or her baby; she also failed to wait the standard 24 hours before discharging her. My daughter was discharged a mere 19 hours after giving birth, and without her doctor's approval.
So, I am asking for prayers for my daughter and her new baby. If you could please send positive vibes and healing energies their way, in whatever way that means to you, it would be greatly appreciated. I have never asked this of anyone, but I'm asking it now; my daughter and grandchildren mean everything to me, and I don't want anything bad to happen to them.
The picture below is my new granddaughter just two minutes after she arrived in the world. Thankyou for taking the time to read this, and thankyou in advance for caring.
The painting has begun (it's being done as I type), and it's a good thing, too, because my daughter is officially in labor! My newest granddaughter is on her way into the world!
For more information, please see my personal journal. I'll be posting updates there as often as possible (oh, what I would give to have a laptop or something to take with me!). I'm very excited right now, so please forgive me for not providing much in the way of actual information.
