Hi Hi Hi everyone! There's a lot to bring you up to date on, so let's just get started.

The Daily Action page has been revamped and updated. You can check it out here (link will open a new window).

The "Members 'Most Wanted' List" has been reviewed by the Care2 staff, and several of the requests you've made have been answered. Here's the last MMW list, including what's been done:

Members are requesting that

(1) the Support and engineering teams to fix existing bugs and glitches.

(2) we have an option to customize the My Connect page (choose themes - like we can do with our groups, profile pages, and blogs - and select which modules to display)

(3) we have the option to send e-cards, messages, and green stars directly from the "My Friends" list.

(4) we have choices to check off when sending green stars, so the recipient knows why they're getting the star. (e.g. "Thinking of you," "Great post in _____ group," "Thanks for the star," etc.)

(5) we have an optional questionnaire that can be filled out when people leave a group, for the purpose of providing feedback to the Group Hosts, so that they (Group Hosts) can gauge how well their group is working for their members.

(6) we have a "BCC" (Blind Carbon Copy) option in personal messaging (for privacy, and to help reduce and prevent spam)

(7) we have a direct e-card link to profiles

(8) we have the option to send more than one green star per week

(9) we have the option to send green stars to all friends at once, without having to click on each profile

(10) we have the ability to email friends directly from the Address Book in our email.

Fulfilled Requests:

1. Increase default font size: Done! (Default is now 12pt [size 3])

2. Delete or edit own posts in groups: Done! (1-min. window to edit posts)

3. Group owners delete/transfer ownership of their groups: Done!

4. Hide sensitive groups from profiles: Done! (option to choose "private" in Visibility settings)

5. Group owners message/email group members only: Done! (Host Announcements and Group Email choices available)

6. Time/date stamps for Personal Messaging: Done!

7. Member Suggestion Box for "Click to Donate" site: Done!

8. Include name of Host in delete notices: Done!

9. Delete more than one post at a time in a thread: Done!

May 30/07: Members 'Most Wanted' List

The last updated Most Wanted List was posted May 5/07.  It seems like it's time to provide another update, just so that Care2 doesn't think we've forgotten what we're asking for. 

Care2, for some time, now, members have been asking for:


(1) the Support and engineering teams to fix existing bugs and glitches, such as:

* Not receiving group emails

* RSS Feeds Intermittent or not updating at all

* Default Font Size Not Working

There are more bugs and glitches that have been ongoing for several months - and for some members, more than a year.

(2) option to customize the My Connect page (choose themes - like we can do with our groups, profile pages, and blogs - and select which modules to display)

(3) the option to send e-cards, messages, and green stars directly from the "My Friends" list.

(4) choices to check off when sending green stars, so the recipient knows why they're getting the star. (e.g. "Thinking of you," "Great post in _____ group," "Thanks for the star," etc.)

(5) an optional questionaire that can be filled out when people leave a group, for the purpose of providing feedback to the Group Hosts, so that they (Group Hosts) can gauge how well their group is working for their members.

(6) a "BCC" option in personal messaging (for privacy, and to help reduce and prevent spam)

(7) a direct e-card link to profiles

(8) the option to send more than one green star per week

(9) the option to send green stars to all friends at once, without having to click on each profile

(10) the ability to email friends directly from the Address Book in our email.

(11) groups which members host and/or co-host to be separated from the groups they don't host/co-host. (perhaps splitting the My Groups page would help?)

The Care2 Support and Engineering teams have been working very hard to resolve existing glitches and bugs. Some of these glitches have been resolved, but there are still some bugs being worked out, so please try to be patient while the engineers continue working to get everything up and running properly.

Should you find that features and tools aren't working, please fill out a Help Form and describe the problem in detail so the engineers can investigate. Make sure you include what you've done to correct things, too.

Care2 launches new features

Wow! Get stuck with computer problems and go offline for a few days, and come back to a whole realm of new and interesting (and hopefully fun) features! There's a lot to catch up on, I see, so let's just get right to it, shall we?

Care2 has launched several new features and tools in the past few days:

* Care2 IM (Care2 Instant Messenger):

To disable this tool, simply go to your profile page, click "Edit Profile" and select the Notifications tab. The first thing on the page is the IM settings. Make your choice, and then click the "save changes" button. Give the system at least 30 minutes to "set" the changes, and you should be good to go.

* Increased default font (now size 3 [12pt])

* Embed videos into discussion posts:

To do this, Hosts must go into the Group Management Console, click on "Discussion Forum Settings" and check the box in the Web Forum settings. Click the "submit" button to save your changes, and you should be good to go.

* Edit posts (you have five minutes from the point of submission to edit your post)

* Friends list alphabetized by first name

For Group Hosts, Care2 has introduced a new tool allowing group hosts to:

* Option to make groups completely private

* View post history of any member in the group

* Add or view notes about a member (written and viewable by hosts only)

* Block or unblock members

* "new member" notification (allows hosts to see new members to the group by looking at the "view newest members" on the group home page, underneath the member list)

Now, all these new features means that some of the requests listed on the Members' "Most Wanted" List can now be removed. And with that in mind, here's the new Members' "Most Wanted" list:

This is the first Members "Most Wanted" List of 2007. Below are the tools and features the community is requesting.

Members would really like:

New Group Mailing Lists

From Care2 Feedback and Suggestions: Host Announcements:

We recently did a soft-launch of an important new feature for Care2 Groups: Every group now has the opportunity to have its own mailing list (often called a "listserv"). We'll soon be doing the "full launch" of the service, so we wanted to give you a little more insight into where we're going with all of this.



Why Mailing Lists?

We surveyed Care2 Group Hosts and leaders of small nonprofit organizations and identified this feature as one of the most important tools we could add to our site. Most members of groups, whether here at Care2 or elsewhere, frequently check their email but only occasionally visit the group's homepage. Thus, the best way to help keep the most group members informed and connected is via email.



Listservs also traditionally come with associated hosting fees/hassles, so by bundling this with our free group tools we hope to provide a simple, effective solution.



Mailing lists vs Discussion Forums

Our new mailing list service is an extension of our popular discussion forums. If you like the way the discussion forums work today, nothing needs to change - you can choose to interact with them exactly as you have been. But now, in addition, you can also receive the discussion posts directly in your inbox, or post to a discussion from your email. The mailing lists functionality is simply more convenient for some people.

This is the Members' 'Most Wanted' List. The requests listed below have been longstanding for more than a year, now, and it is hoped that some of these requests will be included in the next big upgrade.

 (3) Group owners to have the ability to delete or transfer their groups, themselves

 (6) Group Hosts to be able to include a reason for deleting a post, so the poster knows why their post was deleted.

 (7) To have a few choices to check off when we send someone a green star, so the recipient knows why they're getting the star. (e.g. "Thinking of you," "Great post in _____ group," "Thanks for the star," etc.)

 (8) To change the default font size from 2(10pt) to 3(12pt). This has been a long-time request from Care2 members, as there are many with impaired vision who have a great deal of trouble reading small fonts.

(9) An optional questionaire that can be filled out when people leave a group, for the purpose of providing feedback to the Group Hosts, so that they (Group Hosts) can guage how well their group is working for their members.

Care2 Connect: Updates, Requests

We have quite a lot to catch you up on, now that the Blogline is up and running again, so let's get to it.

 (4) An option to hide groups that are sensitive from their profile. (Perhaps a button that says "Show" and "Hide" on our profile page?)

 (5) Group owners and/or Co-Hosts to have the option to email or netmessage group members only. This option would make it much easier for owners and Co-Hosts of large groups to stay in touch with their members, rather than having to discuss group business with the entire network. It would also save time: Group Hosts wouldn't have to search out email addresses or send Introductions to people who aren't on their Friends list. (*IN THE WORKS!)

(6) To have the option to send e-cards, messages, and green stars directly from the "My Friends" list.

 (7) Group Hosts to be able to include a reason for deleting a post, so the poster knows why their post was deleted.

 (8) To have a few choices to check off when we send someone a green star, so the recipient knows why they're getting the star. (e.g. "Thinking of you," "Great post in _____ group," "Thanks for the star," etc.)

 (9) To change the default font size from 2(10pt) to 3(12pt). This has been a long-time request from Care2 members, as there are many with impaired vision who have a great deal of trouble reading small fonts.

In case you didn't catch it (although you probably have by now ), there have been some changes to your profile page, one of which is the addition of a "Comments" section on the right sidebar. Groups you host are more streamlined now, and include the group picture, and the groups you're a member of are now (finally!) listed alphabetically.

Other changes to the site include:

* email verification - to prove you're you when you log onto the site

* a new, more efficient Help Request form

* more staff in the Care2 offices - which will help tremendously in the management of such forums as Care2 Feedback and Suggestions , to name but one group

* a permanent fix to the problem of group hosts blocking themselves from their groups ( click this link for more info)


There are more upgrades on the table, and the Care2 Support and engineering teams are taking many of the community's suggestions to the discussion table, so be sure to stay tuned for updates.
