If the consequence of individualism lacked theoretical and empirical basis, a new discovery by scientists at the University of Sydney, Australia, isolated the selfish gene in female bees, for the first time. The concept that was just accepted, is now confirmed. This means that the selfish gene exists not only in theory but in reality and it can be housed in the core of my and your cells.
There are traces of selfishness in every process of our evolution. Personal Interests were never extinguished, they are not even camouflaged. All societies have evolved and the ties that bind people together no longer exist. As members of the same society we should share common feelings and live harmoniously. But civilization has its imperfections and its dangers.
Selfishness separates the individual of the others, the person confines in himself and all horizons are closed. Any observer would confirm that we are becoming more selfish; bad manners and rudeness are evident. People work only for themselves, put their own needs before those of others, and try to distort the natural order of events in his favor almost every day. Everyone wants to be a unique individual in this world. That would not be a problem in itself, but we are 7 billion people on the planet, if everyone decides to go it alone, what will it be like?
In a study of the selfish behavior of social classes, researchers delivered a devastating verdict on the upper class of society. They found that the privileged people often behave worse than others in a variety of situations, with a greater tendency to lie, cheat, do not stop for pedestrians at intersections.
Interesting to see how the effect varies according to cultures. In rare moments of research, both classes behaved the same.
We were always told not to be selfish because selfishness is a bad feature, however, contrasting the study presented above, the Stanford Graduate School of Business (GS, presented selfishness as a vital component of personal recovery and stated that individuals that act in their own interest, are more likely to gain prestige and recognition of leadership within their social groups than those with altruistic characteristics.
These results should not discourage people to demonstrate love and giving. This theory only explain how some individuals work in a competitive environment. In politics is well-founded the presumption that the public man who lets himself be corrupt, has selfish spirit since he acts to satisfy his self-interest instead of the collective ones.

Over time, the inequalities have increased and changes are not perceived in our everyday life.
The improvement in quality of life are affected by the unequal distribution of wealth and the negligent treatment by the government…

But what about tomorrow? Thinking about tomorrow, let´s change our votes for a decent future, with the possibility to work, to study, to be treated with humanity when we fall sick. This world is possible if we do not lose our moral compass.
On us depends the future and not the political system.
Because the system failed to prevent that political and economic crises were installed, failed to resolve the crisis, it failed to ameliorate inequalities, failed to protect those who are weaker and failed to prevent excessive growth of corporations.
Politicians hear us through our votes, since it determines the direction we choose, it can amplify our voice or just let the rich get richer at the expense of the rest of society.
In an excerpt from the inaugural address in 1994, Nelson Mandela addressed the people of South Africa, asking those who were not afraid to express their power.
He said: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

Brazil is the sixth economy in the world, behind the United States, China, Japan, Germany, France. Brazil is the fifth largest country in area and according to data from Census 2010, conducted by the Brazilian Geography and Statistics (IBGE) has 190,755,799 inhabitants, which makes the country's fifth most populous nation on the planet, behind China, India, USA and Indonesia, respectively.

Well, Brazil is Brazil - a great and unique country, populated mostly by whites, then blacks and browns and 817 000 people declared themselves indigenous.
Brazil, a country of many contrasts and various shades… the only country that speaks Portuguese in one hemisphere of the Spanish-speaking neighbors, which is not easy to explain but Brasil is a country that is easy to appreciate and love.

Our territory was already inhabited by a large population of Indians who lived by their own organizations and traditions, when the Portuguese landed here on April 22, 1500. But until now Brazil has not been fully discovered, there is a vast and mysterious territory to be discovered. Brasil has a distorted image abroad, being said Just as a beautiful country, which is a heaven for football, corruption, violence, samba, carnival and freedom.

The stabel political situation in Brazil attracts investors and its hard-won democracy also provides foreign investors the assurance that there will be no revolution here.
The development came somehow fast. The country already has a car for every five Brazilians, although in many cities now have less than two people per vehicle, just like in Germany and the United States.
Brazil reached the mark of 210.5 million mobile phone subscribers in March this year, according to the National Telecommunications Agency..
Brazil has 137,000 millionaires and 30 billionaires, according to Forbes Magazine, that assures that this trend should continue for at least another three years.

However amid the population and economic growth, some of the data revealed by the IBGE refers us to a bleak reality. There are still 14.1 million illiterates in the country, most young men who live in the Northeast, more than 7 million children work in Brazil while they should be in classrooms.
Violence numbers were released by the National Penitentiary Department – DEPEN; 513,802 Brazilians are in jail. And why are they in prison? Well in Brazil, 137 people are killed per day.
Brazil has incredible 16.2 million people living in extreme poverty. For a person to be framed within the concept of extreme poverty, she must have monthly income up to $ 70 per month or slightly more than $ 2 per day. Unbelievable, isn´t?

Brazil still has a long way to go if the country really wants to improve its standards of social life. I do not know if the placement as the sixth largest economy in the world helps beyond the question of pride.Still affected by basic problems such as poor income distribution and social injustices, most Brazilians seem to overlook the millions of hungry people, which are hidden on the outskirts of large cities.

Sometimes the pressure is so much ... hours don´t pass ... Things seem are not going forward ...
It seems that the whole world conspires against you!
want a solution?
whistle...
Play you are a fool!
So what? Do not listen to those who just want to see you behind!
Disguise!
Pretend you're a pumpkin! And don´t listen to them
Try to do something that gives pleasure to you!
You should look for things that move you.
Things that make you feel alive, that looks like your dreams ...
Abuse!
Who cares?
But to be more affectionate
Give more attention to things that are trivial ... Have fun with them!
Laugh of the inconveniences.
Let go the fear to be ridiculous ...
And most important:
Life does not stop, every minute wasted time is stressed.
So I wish you:
A little crazy and a bit of purity.
So you can see life differently and much better than it really is sometimes.

And do not forget:
Smile, because in life everything is better with a little joy.

Do not judge others. This is obviously easier said than done. Many people fed by insecurity disdain the work of others, see errors, faults and bad faith in everything. This makes them think they would do the work better, they would produce better results but will this strategy of putting others down to build ones own self-esteem goes right? Hardly.
I do not think anyone will completely eliminate the habit of judging others on their minds, but you can change the old formula to express judgments through verbal attacks and sarcasm, maybe being yourself more useful. Instead of unconditionally accepting people for who they are, we judge them. There are many reasons that lead us to fall into this trap. We judge people who don´t share the same thought of ours, because we expect the worst and most often, because we want to harm someone.

Almost all the points mentioned express a negative, pessimistic or fatalistic view, because the judge does not wait things to flow to evaluate them. Hastily he sees chaos because deep down inside he really wants all go wrong. There is always someone to blame. We are quick to find fault with others and pronounce our judgment on them, without regarding to our own faults.
The ideal thing would be not judge anyone, nor ourselves. We should be encouraged to improve our own performance and spend less time judging.
Whenever you catch yourself judging, criticizing, try a different approach: accepts, understands and cooperates. This can lead you to some positive results.
This can be applied to anything we do: be with other people at work, in politics and media. When people have a forum for discussion and does not use tools properly, leaving for peremptory or hasty judgment, he does not contribute at all. What makes anyone believes that he alone has the power to see what is wrong? A visionary?

Sometimes we are quick to judge or form an opinion on others, especially when we do not know their motivations. There is a quote from Booker T. Washington, that says: "I do not allow any man put me down and degrade my soul by making me hate him." That's what we sometimes do when we judge others, we  degrade our own souls. We should not pay too much attention to judgment of others. Men are as diverse as contradictory and it is impossible to please their demands and satisfy them.

Keep in mind just being authentic and true. Forget the crowd, do not discuss mistakes of others just to feel you are the best person in the world. The tendency to judge a person as someone who has no positive qualities is a strategy of the ego to avoid uncomfortable feelings, is just speech to provoke emotional reactions.

If you judge people, you have no time to love them, have said Mother Teresa.

A poet who lived in the seventies in rural area of Chapada dos Guimarães (Brasil), having lost his wife, who disappeared mysteriously in August l975, spent more than twenty years, going every day to a dirt road, which passes in front of his home with a bouquet of flowers, waiting for the bus could bring back his love. While waiting, he wrote poems in a notebook. As the bus always passed straight, he pulled the poem from the notebook and pasted on the wall of his house ... The bouquet of fresh flowers he dug in the yard ...
Over the years, the bus line was cancelled, the house was falling apart, but the poet, tired and old, kept going to the roadside, at the same time each day, week, year after year .... The house collapsed, gone ...many of his poems have fallen off the wall, flew across the yard, by savannah ... They say that the wind sometimes reads his poems and on moonlit nights we can hear his desperate verses to the edge of the cliff!

(Sinopse of the film "South of September" , from the film Director Amauri Tangará,from Cuiabá, Brasil).

The most precious gift you can give someone is your attention. Not always people want to hear advices. Sometimes we need someone who can only listen to us. I am tired of people saying what we should do, we hear voices from all directions.
Active listening is when you listen to learn more about something or someone, which is different from defensive listening, when you are just waiting for your turn to answer back what you heard. Learning to listen to yourself is equally revealing.
Our communication is slipping into a defensive listening, full of fear and uneasy silence. No one feels heard.
In fact, the most powerful way in which we can witness our love is when we stop doing anything to focus all our attention to the person who is speaking. Listen is also for the person to feel that behind the words there is wisdom, heart, mind and knowledge. Listen is also an act of curiosity because it is evident that the words can not describe everything we express. Give full attention to people you love also gives you the chance to connect with them in a way you can´t  only talking.
People need more time with people. Everyone should slow down and make communication easier and more efficient. Not always we need to put our own oppinion in a conversation, people like to be heard without interruption. Andbe sure, a good listener also steals the show...
And you, you let others speak?
There are lots of people who only talk about themselves, about what they do and what they don´t do in their lives. People who talk too much about themselves forget that conversation is a two-way activity. If we are willing and able to listen to others we gain a lot more appreciation, new perspectives, have our relationships improved. Listening develops tolerance and patience.
You can not accept nor like ones ideas, you may not like some criticism but be patient. Listening is a good way of influence people as to talk.
Do not interrupt someome who is speaking. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to communicating with someone who answers the telephone at the same time.
On Jane Pettit studies, "Improving our listening skills" she noted that as we speak to a rate of about 125 words per minute and we think and listen to four times that rate. So, what does it take to become a good listener?  Pettit explains that being a good listener is not easy, we have to constantly being focused and she also emphasized that we must decide if we want to hear, because we not always have to hear just because someone wants to speak. Sometimes is enough to be only the silence that shows respect.

The world population reached the figure of 7 billion people last week. The growth has been 1.5% per year. On July 22, 1999, the U.S. Census Bureau announced that it had reached the 6 billion people inhabiting Earth Planet. The annual growth rate peaked in the late 60's, when verging 2.20%. Currently the growth rate is declining and is expected to fall further in coming years, but the world population will continue growing but at a slower pace compared to the recent past. You can see that the world population doubled in 40 years and now there is anticipation that it will take 42 years to grow 50%.
There is an interesting estimate point  that since the emergence of the human race, about 106 billion people have been through the planet earth.
In the global village are about 6,000 languages spoken, but more than half speak dialects of Chinese, English, Indian, Spanish, Arabic, Bengali and Portuguese.Beliefs are divided mainly between Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and Jews.
On the planet lack drinking water, adequate sanitation, people breathe polluted air, not all families have electricity at home, not all children attend school, not all who attend learn how to read, in an educational system still sexist, where more boys are taught reading than girls.
So we have 7 billion reasons to pay more attention on the planet, to be more careful with each other, to be focused on the devastating effects caused by increasing population in our communities, to respect the environment, observe the availability of natural resources, and more importantly, take care of your health and well-being especially of women and their children ..
Overpopulation is the biggest danger to the planet, so that changes and global warming are insignificant when compared with the explosion of population growth. The more we extend our cities and communities, the more we contribute to the extinction of other life forms.
The phenomena of the population is well explained here: When the population of a species grows beyond its ability to sustain its population, disease and famine reduced the population to a smaller size so as to make it sustainable. In the case of humanity, we are facing hunger, environmental imbalance and should face significant losses because of conflicts for accessing resources that are increasingly scarce.
We have reason to be distressed and with some fear, said a researcher at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. The 21st century has barely begun and already there's a billion people more than in October 1999 - with the bleak prospects for the future of energy and food supply.
It is precisely because our population is so large and still growing, that we should care more for the next generations, young people who like many of us are out of sync with sustainability in their diets, in their ways of moving, and their desires to maintain comfortable temperature, no matter what is happening outside. - This does not make us terrible people. But the fact is that, collectively, these behaviors are moving us into danger zones.
We all have the responsibility and opportunity to make the world a better place in the coming years, inspire people to donate, promote dialogue between different faiths and cultures and  get ready for the transition. It´s not easy to live in a world with 7 billion different faces.
